Built for Real People, Not Just Bookkeepers
I had the chance to thoroughly explore thebooks.tax app and intentionally tried to push it beyond what most users would probably ever do in day-to-day use. I connected accounts, imported transactions, categorized and recategorized items, ran reports, created additional workspaces, and even invited another user to see how collaboration worked. I was also pleased to see some customization features, like the ability to add your own tracking categories. From my experience using software, "simple" often means locked down, but this didn't feel that way.
I’ll admit I went into it expecting another tool that claimed to be “simple” but still required a lot of setup and explanation. Instead, I found myself thinking, "Okay, this app delivers, and it really is easy to use."
The app was fast, easy to navigate, and felt approachable in a way that many software and bookkeeping tools don't. I could see a business owner sitting down and making real progress without feeling overwhelmed.
From a professional standpoint, I pay close attention to whether I’d feel comfortable putting a client in front of something. I would have no hesitation recommending this to the right client, especially for small businesses that need practical bookkeeping support without the weight and complexity of larger systems.
I’m excited to see thebooks.tax succeed and grow!
