Mixed Feelings…
It was easy and convenient to book our transportation arrangements. The owner of the company was very nice and respectful. Overall, the front-end staff that assisted with my accommodations were great. But we did have an issue on the return trip from the cruise and transportation from the Port of Bayonne.
Somewhere along the line, I think it was forgotten that we were traveling with people who had mobility issues. We did have two scooters to accommodate in terms of the van’s luggage/storage capacity. The vehicle that was selected out of the fleet of vans, didn’t adequately have the room to accommodate the luggage plus the scooters for the people who are coming back from the vacation cruise. I also was also disappointed that the second driver offered very little assistance in helping us to load or arrange the luggage to get back home.
I don’t think that we were sent the right vehicle nor the right driver for the task. Coming back and being a bit fatigued from travel… highlighted some inadequacies.
In general, I would say it’s good to know the itinerary & needs of the group that you’re transporting. You need to know if they’re have luggage, scooters, if they might need assistance, and to make sure that the vehicle being used for their transportation is adequate. The van had very limited storage and it turned out to be problematic when combined with having little help.
I guess because the service was so good on the front end, I expected the same level of service for the return trip and I was disappointed. But the first driver who took us to the cruise port was excellent!
***I also found it distasteful that the second driver tried to correct or castigate us for not hiring the appropriate size vehicle for our needs. (We were a group of eight people traveling in a van that had a seating capacity of 14. Plus, I had mentioned in my early booking that we had 2 passengers bringing mobility scooters). I felt the 2nd driver‘s comments to be unnecessary, insensitive, as well as distasteful. Talking down to the customer is never a good thing.
