Homeless please be warned about stockport if you havent passed through dont just because of wellsprings and food its just for loczls and council estate people

Libraries are the same as much use.some areas do let you in and offer tea coffee in winter and to recharge phones others just a waste of time been through 9 libraries none or that helpful

As a homeless person i have moved around one just to find somewhere to sleep and rest in nearly 5 years have had to pass through stockport area and the teenage gangs who think they run the area apart from being attcked 3 times all of which by local police was put down to bored teenageres and whos going to repair all my equipment including loss of tents and tablets including the belting i got and latest from the present gang hanging was to throw ice and coke all over me in minus 2 tempertures while sat in the doorway
Some times wonder the town council isnt backing them to get rid of the number of rough sleepers having been seen to by out reach once while here and locals are in the same frame of mind about bored teenages just doing what they want

STOCKPORT should stop all that helpfulness they keep going on about like wellsprings olve banch the church and just not bother seeing as it really just for the council estate people and not anyone else

So homeless be warned about just how helpful they all are and pals and bothers in arms that also includes the local teen gangs the amount of drug dealing and just thugs
And as spoken to by a young woman over christmas period about how intimadting the gangs of them where while shopping

Stockport Council seems to actively work against the interest of its own residents. Please note this is a report of not one, but several examples, of what are laughingly referred to as their 'service levels'

When we moved home, they messed up transferral of their bloated council tax charges so much that they invoiced me for my new home AND my next door neighbour's, then sent me several threatening letters if I didn't start paying for the property. When we rang them to politely report the error, the rudest person I have ever spoken to accused us of lying and causing the mistake ourselves. They don't identify themselves by name, of course (except for the AI 'assistant' on their web site), and it's obvious why.

Last month, I was given a parking ticket while parked outside our own house for a couple of minutes whilst trying to get my infirm 88 year old mother in law to a medical appointment. The warden who booked me clearly enjoyed the encounter and declared that 'that wasn't the full nature of the offence.' Note, "OFFENCE".

Most recently Stockport had the wheeze to start charging people extra for their green bins. We applied for a permit, which took endless weeks to arrive. Their web site claimed that the remaining refuse service 'would remain free of charge.' FREE OF CHARGE? We pay hundreds of pounds every month for them to do so.

The local roads are littered with pot holes, cycle lanes have made some streets impossible to navigate safely, and and it's obvious that the Council is more concerned with its signature projects rather than basic maintenance. "The New Berlin" is the rather amusing claim they make for the town centre redevelopment. Berlin, 1945, maybe.

PS, come on Trustpilot, give us a 'zero rating' option.

Stockport introduced an extra charge for collecting green bins but failed to collect my green bin on 12/5/25, they then failed to re-collect when I’d reported the missed collection.
I raised a complaint (Ref: 101007869938) and was informed this would be dealt with in 2-working days.
It’s now 12/6/25 & my complaint & follow up emails have just been completely ignored.
If I’m paying extra for this service I expect a partial refund for every week they miss a collection that I have paid for, as would be the case for any other service you have to pay for.

Stockport Homes and Stockport Council Tax service are both part of Stockport Borough Council. Both departments are incompetent and completely useless in providing help or resolution for its residents...
Katie Bryant from Housing, fails to return urgent calls and Council Tax office fails to return calls even after a lengthy phone call to explain the urgent situation and help required from their department for an 85 year old Lady. USELESS !!!

Renewing residents parking permit was an atrocious experience. The renewal ketter gives wrong information. I applied for 2 permits the day I received the letter. 2 weeks later I had no response. A phone call confirmed email had been received . Still no response. After another phone call, I was able to pay £ 47.50 for the permit on 14th October. The one for the car parks is free. The residents permit still has not been sent and mine is now out of date.I have just phoned the council and a recorded message asks you to phone back after 3.45pm. I phoned back 8 times and still got the same message. What a shambolic crew.

So got a pcn notice for a bus gate violation.
Paid last week as soon as the official letter arrived but couldn't do it via the site as it said the PCN number was invalid so ended up having to pay it over the phone.
Now getting SMS text messages about paying the same charge from a scam site.
Thing is it's all the correct details, so someone at the council is leaking details or is themselves running this scam!
Absolutely shocking and a total breach of gdpr!

Objected to planning permission for a digital sign opposite our house and the sign is now being fitted.
Missed Green bin collection today wed’s 8 May, tried online and apparently the crew reported that it wasn’t out side, funny that as I put it out at 10pm last night and also chased the bin man down the road. He said sorry they missed it and will return later.

What can I say about stockport homes. They don't like to help you out at all. I have been homeless since Christmas. My mental health is gone. Been suicidal for a long time. They have all my mental health records yet I'm not priority. I have a daughter where I have court order and yet they still won't help me out. They would want you to be hanging infront of there office to help you out. Stockport Homes you should be ashamed of yourselves. Not helping out there own people are you. Complete joke of a place.

I tried to get through on the general phone number for stockport poll tax, but had to wait and hour and ten minutes for a call back, my phone was beside me it shuddered and didn't even ring before the call was aborted, what a joke, please please tell me why this sort of conduct is allowed, are People still working from home, dreadful.

Anti social behaviour team what a joke , got threatened by my neighbour who branded a big knife on my door step, to be told that their nothing they can do about it. SHG have failed to protect me and my family against a potential threat of knife crime caused by a neighbour they protect a man who racist , aggressive pulls out big 🔪 to his neighbours. It's disgusting that this anti social team are protecting a man who causing alarm and distress to other people and now my children.
Since your protecting him I will never call I have zero confidence to that anything will get done. I'm supposed to live with fear of this man who know SHG will protect him. Another number raised issues the moved an innocent man after the same neighbour placed the race card and had white man moved again because they protected a violent and aggressive neighbour ..the same man who was arrested for trying burn his girl friend in the house why are you protecting this man. So Stockport homes when are you going to act when me or my partner are in a pool of blood. Am disappointed with them and will not stop writing reviews because you have treated me unfairly to man you full know is dangerous and weird the same neighbour who beats his meat and say I can you hear you and misses making out don't you see their a problem with this individual.

If you can't protect us ..I will protect my family I will never ring you or the police you have shown us it's okay for this man to cause alarm and distress thank you for nothing Stockport homes how many complaints have I put in about the same neighbour..how many tenants have to go thru this how many lives have to suffer absolutely ridiculous. A town that seems to have peaked in the 1930s and 1940s, but beyond that it is an inward looking monoculture of northern racism and low educational attainment and social aspiration. A few areas of note and worth for living in, but beyond that it is genuinely has a Royston Vasey vibe to it. I don't even interact with the locals as the scary racism vibe is beyond tolerable. I don't believe the council has any remit beyond the local mason's lodge, and it just genuinely is a very weird place to find yourself living in.

Stockport councils shambolic process for allocation of school places creates trauma and mental health issues for families!
My personal story starts with my son being placed out of area at meadow bank school Cheadle Hulme when we live in Cheadle Heath.Our local school Alexandra park edgeley,which my son attended as a pre school student was my 1st choice as were other local primary schools!
So off my son goes to a school we’re non of his friends we’re going at 5yrs old.Which meant someone having to take him as no direct transport and not a walkable distance! We made the best of it and he developed true friendships and did very well!
Now to secondary school and the trauma and anxiety really starts.
He has been allocated another school way out of catchment,to our home,not 1 of the chosen 3 or close to his primary school! None of his friends are going and at 11 yrs old this is causing major stress,emotional upheaval and trauma,which has resulted in CAMS,MASH and his current primary school Intervention to no avail !
Is it Stockport councils policy to put higher achieving students,in an under achieving school regardless of the impact to that student,to make the school stats spear more favourable as this is the 2nd time this has happened to my son!
The cost to the family to go through the appeals process so far has cost £560(which has not been easy to find)for help with representation,never mind the effects on our relationship,and the amount of trauma my son is going through.We have now taken his case to the ombudsman!
This whole process is flawed and need reviewing as it’s clearly discriminatory and detrimental to the wellbeing of our children!
Parents Be AWARE and be prepared to fight as that is the only way this policy,process will change for the good of our children,who deserve the best educational and emotional support in their school environment!

I approached Stockport Council (a few months back) as a process of many applications to apply for housing. I explained my current situation (having been a victim of several acts of racial hatred over the course of four years) and provided some of the evidence to support my desire to leave the area in which I currently reside.

I was met with vile, horrid staff who have clearly been raised in a barn and lack any form of professional etiquette or human decency. They had the nerve not only to respond in a savage fashion, but to request that I approach my fascist racist landlord, Salix Homes, to obtain a referral. It amazes me how housing associations  such as For Housing are quick to refute any claims of being racist, when their actions clearly state otherwise. If a housing association clearly demonstrates their commitment to condoning racial hatred as (Salix Homes, St Vincents Moss Care, Bolton at Home, For Housing), it should be the responsibility of the ones that claim they are otherwise more humane of all associations to step in and take the bull by the horns and rebuke it by taking away the responsibility from these miltant KKK camps and ensuring the victims are placed in decent homes in an area that has proven that racial hatred is not tolerated and has records to show that

I have been complaining to Stockport council about a damaged road surface outside our house for over 12 months.We live on a busy main road and every van, hgv,and bus that hits the potholes that are 3 meters from my property make the house shake. This damaged surface happens to be a pedestrian crossing that is frequently used
by elderly people and people with vision problems and I think it is only a matter of time before someone has a bad fall on the crossing. I am certain this situation wouldn't be tolerated outside the home of a council official
