I am extremely disappointed with my experience using Statista. Last year, I subscribed without knowing that the payment for the entire year would be charged upfront—instead of the expected $119, they withdrew $1,461.24 from my account. I decided not to dispute it, but a year later, when the subscription automatically renewed, I received an invoice for the same amount. In response to my requests for partial payment and account deactivation, Statista refused and demanded full payment, threatening legal action. The subscription terms on their website are not transparent, and they offered no flexible solutions. This has left me with a very negative impression.

Prior to purchase and throughout the Starter Account registration process it is made clear that the account is billed annually for a 12-month subscription period and that payment for the entire duration will take place at the beginning of the subscription.
It is also outlined in our T&Cs that the Starter Account subscription is valid for a period of 12 months and prior to expiration is automatically renewed at the regular monthly price for 12 months. The cancellation period is six weeks prior to the end of the subscription

Deceptive sign up
A Statista page linked to from Google search says, 'Register for a free account' to see the research 'Source' information, which I did. However they then asked me to upgrade to premium to actually see the source. This is a deceptive practice and their research statistics pages should not be ranked highly in Google. Research data without an easily available and clear source has no validity.

Totally worthless
Totally worthless, they charge way too much for data you can get for free other places. I went through the motions to get a free account but still hit paywalls to view the most basic data. Save your budget and seek alternatives elsewhere.

Und NEIN Statista, ich habe mich auch niemals bei euch registriert, also passt auch eine Standard-Antwort nicht.
Ihr betreibt unaufgeforderte Kontaktaufnahme und dies ist schlicht und ergreifend nicht zulässig in diesem Land.

Spannend aber nicht ganz billig
Statista ist eine schön gestaltete Seite mit spannenden und meiner Erfahrung nach auch seriösen Statistiken.
Viele Bewertungen kritisieren hier den Preis, und das zurecht. Für das niedrigste Angebot muss man schon 200 € im Jahr zahlen. Das ist nicht wenig, vor allem wenn man berücksichtigt, dass vor allem Schüler und Studenten häufig mit Statistiken arbeiten.Der Umfang der kostenlosen Version ist manchmal ausreichend. Es kommt hier stark auf die Themen an, welche behandelt werden. Meiner Erfahrung nach sind große Themen mit vielen Statistiken eher kostenlos verfügbar als kleinere Nischenthemen.
Mir gefällt auch die Handy-App von Statista. Man spürt dieselbe Liebe zur Gestaltung, die auch in die Website gesteckt wurde. Ich finde es nur schade, dass die App vom Umfang her weniger bietet als die Website, vor allem weil die Bedienung einer Website per Handy eher umständlich ist.
Insgesamt eine tolle Plattform mit spannenden Daten, jedoch kein Schnäppchen.

Tatsächlich haben unsere sorgfältig aufbereiteten Daten ihren Preis. Dies liegt sicherlich auch daran, dass es sich bei unserer Seite um ein Geschäftskundenportal handelt. Unser Angebot ist zunächst einmal nicht für den privaten Gebrauch gedacht.
Für Schüler:innen und Studierende gibt es aber gesonderte Lösungen. Diese können über unsere Campus Lizenzen komplett kostenfrei auf unsere Datenbanken zugreifen. Sämtliche Kosten übernimmt dann die jeweilige (Hoch)schule. Am besten einmal direkt bei der zuständigen Bibliothek nachfragen, ob eine solche Campus Lizenz existiert. Hier kann man sicher auch alle weiteren Fragen bezüglich des Zugangs beantworten.
Unsere App ist noch eines unserer neueren Produkte. Diese wird kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt. Insbesondere die Vergrößerung des Umfangs ist dabei ein wichtiges Thema bei uns.

Statista - auto-renewal sharks
I joined Statista for a year because the stats looked useful and the initial subscription was reasonable.
However I soon realised the stats were largely taken from public websites - but showed much less detail than the originals.
And they were usually well behind the official stats - suggesting Statista doesn't update very regularly.
I didn't want to pay for outdated data and so decided not to renew but Statista auto-renewed and significantly increased the subs without any prior warning. This is disrespectful and a terrible approach to customer retention!
I would strongly recommend staying well away from this company.

As per the terms you agreed to when purchasing the Starter Account (formerly the Single Account), unless contractually agreed otherwise, the Starter Account subscription is valid for a period of 12 months and prior to expiration is automatically renewed at the regular monthly price for 12 months. The cancellation period is six weeks prior to the end of the subscription. So if you ask for the account to be cancelled after the deadline, the account is renewed and cancelled for the following year. Statista makes my shitlist
As a statistician, I think this site is unserious and untrustworthy. Also, I find their business method offensive and unproductive. I spend more time dodging lame sales tricks on their homepage than getting access to valid statistics. Useless, definitely on my shitlist.

Unreliable and greedy
I found some weird data, inconsistent with data from a reliable analysts cabinet. So I was curious about the origin.
However, to view the origin, you need to "register for free".
So, I created a free account and I was bugged all the time with nagging "upgrade popups".
They don't create their own data. Just scavenge without checking.

Violent customers experience
I terminated my Statista account a while a go since did not see the additional value in paying (~1K€) for the usage of data that is freely available.
However, termination process was not as smooth as one could expect. Without going to details, I can confirm many of the other experiences mentioned in the Trustpilot reviews are accurate including cancellation form that does not actually work and using a law firm Anwaltskanzlei Conrad to intimidate.
I can just say that I have never encountered such a hostile company during my whole career.
