Our amazing time in Bulgaria
On the flight to Sofia there was a tiny voice in my head asking "what if this is all some complicated scam?" .. that voice was extinguished the moment we met our guide Evgeny!
We were so impressed with him, 'from airport to airport' nothing was an effort or a problem, he wasn't stressed about anything that we noticed, the tour went at the 'right pace' and he was happy to be flexible to suit our needs.
He is so passionate about Bulgaria and the things he showed us. The fact that he grew up under Communism - I think he said to age 7 - added to our experience as he told us stories about singing songs to Lenin in kindergarten.
Highlights: Buzludzha (of course!), the hot springs and our walk in the forest on the last morning before heading back to Sofia. And the urbex.
Hotels: I liked them all, although Sarah said if we go back to Plovdiv that she'd prefer something in the middle of the city. My only complaint is the trams start very early in Sofia and the windows at that hotel don't keep much noise out.
The food was fantastic everywhere, all so fresh, and the best meal - more about location than anything else - was at the little place next to the waterfront (sorry, I hardly remember any place names).
This trip has certainly whetted my appetite to see more former Communist countries and I will be in touch when I'm ready to book the next adventure!

I’ve travelled a couple of times with…
I’ve travelled a couple of times with company so far. I would rate them as excellent. Firstly, the communications are prompt and informative with all questions answered fully. Secondly, I went to countries ‘less well travelled’ so visa issues were not straightforward but they were quickly and efficiently dealt with. Looking forwards now to another trip next year. 10/10!

Fatto un viaggio di gruppo in Moldova e Transnistria nel settembre 2024. Probabilmente nel complesso il miglior viaggio di gruppo fatto finora, per originalità delle mete, organizzazione, competenza della guida, compagni di gruppo e abbondanza di contenuti (sia durante che pre e post viaggio). Mi rivolgerò sicuramente a Soviet Tours in futuro per nuovi viaggi.

Perfect adventures in Moldova
Needed help planning a last minute tour of Moldova and Soviet Tours came though with a brilliant program at a very competitive price. Guides were fantastic, good-humoured, well-informed, and gifted story tellers. They were also good listeners, adapting itinerary and experiences to ensure our bespoke interests were met. Vehicles clean and drivers too-notch. A 5* experience all around.
