Hands on the Scale
I participated actively in SnapNames/Namejet auctions for several years, bidding daily and spending significantly. The inventory is genuinely strong — Network Solutions legacy names that you won't find elsewhere. For that reason alone I kept coming back.
But after years of participation I've come to believe the playing field is not level. Certain legacy participants appear to have access to pricing arrangements and automation tools that are no longer available to new bidders.
When I asked SnapNames management directly — on multiple occasions, in writing, over several months — whether all bidders compete on equal terms, I was ignored entirely.
When I escalated through the BBB, I received a carefully worded response that addressed auction mechanics but declined to answer the specific question I asked: does any participant pay a lower effective cost per acquisition than others?
That question remains unanswered. Draw your own conclusions.
Stole my businesses domain
Stole my businesses domain. Stole my data. Took money from my bank without consent. I had to cancel my card. Don't give them any details they have bots bidding on your domain it will be £1500 plus and from the reviews here you still wont get it.
SCAM!
THE SCAM:
Stealing domains
A generic domain name with no reasonable market value went through the roof due to bot (over $2.5k). After the bot won, the domain is immediately for sale for over
$4k on the same site
So the complete chain:
Domain expires at Network Solutions (Newfold Digital)
Routed to auction at NameJet/SnapNames (Newfold Digital)
"Won" by a bot over a genuine buyer
Immediately appears on BuyDomains (Newfold Digital) at $4,188
Registered through Annulet LLC (Newfold Digital)
Sitting at Newfold Digital's own Jacksonville address
The domain never left the building. This isn't a speculator who won an auction and relisted it. The domain went from one Newfold Digital subsidiary to another. Bot bid it up past the budget and the domain landed right back in the parent company's resale inventory at a 61% markup.
I'm no longer sure of the intent of NameJet or SnapNames but it's isn't "good". It's better labelled as "Evil" and "Scam".
Impossible to work with
Impossible to work with. They keep suspending accounts, require creating new accounts and require extensive personal information and government ID, before even engaging in any business with the company. Further, their prices are way above the market standard, and I can't really verify if it's worth the up to 500% increase in price before they've proved their business to me, which they are apparently struggling hard to avoid. They use several domains to push their service, but never answer if they are the same entity, although the domains they sell under have the exact same signup process and interface with just a little colour variance. Seems like a scam.
Refused to delete my personal…
Refused to delete my personal information without explanation after a very frustrating process including the Newfold Digital. Complaint raised to my local authority under the GDPR.
Company to be avoided.
Shady business
Shady business. Scoops up lapsed domains, parks them. If you register with them, they automatically push you to a 3rd party (network solutions) with your personal details set to public. You can pay to have privacy, but it's too late. Every bot and spam caller has the info already.
Just a scam
Just a scam. I can't even connect to my account, even though everything is correct and even after doing "forgot password". Non-existent support and they charged my bank card. Frankly, a disgrace! I don't understand how this can still exist. Run away if you value your money.
Network Solutions created this site for their own benefits and take away from their own customers
Network Solutions created this site to snap their own customers' domain names and take it to auction and make profit for themselves. I had a domain name and just expired 44 days. With Name.com, they keep it for 3 months with no charge if you still want to renew it. Network Solutions also charge what call Reinstate Fee for $35.00 if late renewal.
Snapnames place orders for domains you…
Snapnames place orders for domains you have REMOVED from your pending order list.
They simply say that the domain auction is active on their end after charging for the domain.
Once this happened a few times I took a screenshot and downloaded my pending orders.
A couple of weeks later, surprise surprise, I received a domain order for a domain that wasn't on my list. It was previously, but I had removed it months ago.
Plus my Credit Card on file is expired and still payments are taken.
Be wary of using their services.
i just scan my domain expire time
i just scan my domain expire time.
they notedown and buy my domain and want to sell more then expensive price stay away these scammer even dont try to scan any domain on thier portal.
Keep away from these scammers
Keep away from these scammers! I tried getting verified but they're extremely privacy invasive. You have to give up credit card, facial data, ID card, phone number.
Lastly they kept threatening to charge my creditcard.
I've decided to switch creditcards as I don't trust them
Very poor company scammers - Stay away
Very poor company scammers - Have not used them in 5 years cant even log into my account and they say the below - They purposeley suspend account so you forget about it and cant even login and steal card info. Lucky I no longer have that card, these scammers will not be getting one penny.
We have researched the purchase flow for the domain thats was won on 07/14/2023 and do not find any system issue. The domain was added to your backorder on 04/24/2018.
I am sorry, to ensure the integrity of Snapnames auctions, all orders are final and non-refundable.
It is the customer’s responsibility to maintain the accuracy of the orders placed within the account. By placing a backorder on a domain name you are committing to your bid and the sale. Bids can be canceled at any time before the auction starts. This can be done from the “Pending Orders” section of the account.
Once an auction begins, any order made on a domain cannot be removed.
Don't tell them what domain you want. They will take it.
I signed up to register a name that was about to drop, it was a domain name not overly interesting to most people. It dropped and they caught it and tried to charge $250 US for it. For a few years they ,keep on begging me to update my credit card. Yesterday they asked me to update my credit card details so I can complete a transaction, and told me that the domain name is coming up for $16k US implying that they want to auto charge me for it. They didn't say that directly but that is what it looks like. This website feels like a scam. The end result, from then outside, is it looks like they just want you to tell them what domain name you want so they can steal it and over charge for it. I'd say don't tell them what domain name you want, and never give them your credit card ever.
KEEP AWAY!!!! from SnapNames
Staggeringly corrupt company is Snap Names.
* They attempt to take money unauthorized every month for years until your charge card expires and the bank issue new card. Then the payment auto, they have found this work around to get your money.
* They stopped access to your account and you cannot reset password therefore you cannot remove charge card
* They almost laugh at you when they grab your money and cause this hassle as a Bank dispute has to be open
KEEP AWAY!!!!
Avoid them
I bought via snapnames an expired domain name.. they made the debit the same day. 6 days after no news from them, I am forced to do verifications of indetite and bank cards that they do not initiate, they transferred the domain to a registrar without consulting me..to avoid.. moreover the support is totally ineffective
Awful support and another scam from…
Awful support and another scam from WEB.com
Don't do business with them
Don't do business with them. They took my money when I backordered an "io" domain (it cost $226) but they never managed to catch it. Ever since, I chase them and try to get my money back. They don't answer!!!
One time I managed to get someone over the phone, and they were useless. I had to open a dispute over the credit card company. So much of my time and efforts were wasted on snapnames. It sucks.
Useless backordering. Don't waste your time.
I've tried to use snapnames for quite a few backorder for various (16) TLD. They have had zero success. They are effectively a useless service. I wouldn't even waste your time signing up and filling out your details.
SnapNames, name of SCAM according my experince
First, sorry my English is not good.
**Note: All reviews according to my experience with them. And I'm using and I've used tons of different service providers, websites, tools, and systems. So like other's explorers, I know tons of different service providers, websites, tools, and systems.
----------------
**Review Part 2: I'm writing this review after opening a ticket on SnapNames regarding my issue and I asked them why they charge me?
And They didn't respond with the proper info, instead, they responded in ticket and inform me to verify the account by providing more details like a passport and other things. What kind of professionalism?
**And WOW, in the same response in the ticket, they inform me that my account is suspended, without proper notice and they want me to verify my account with more and more info like passport and other things. What? This how SnapNames treat me in the wrong way.
**Note: They didn't inform me for further verification via email or any other notification after created my account. What a shame system.
**Also, I ask them to delete my account, because I've no interest after all that. I'm worried about my MasterCard info which I've used on their site. OMG. In their system, there is no way to remove MasterCard info. Totally SCAM system.
---------------
Review Part 1: Normally I do not write bad reviews. But sometimes writing the review is necessary.
I can write some things about SnapNames which seem totally SCAM. According to my experience.
**I've created an account on SnapNames to try their features and all, and I noticed that they charge me via my MasterCard without any reason. What a shame.
**They are required to add MasterCard info while creating an account, which is totally unnecessary. When needed, I can use my payment method, there is no necessary to add a Payment method on account creation.
**After all these, I want to delete my account. But I noticed that, they don't have an account delete option. What is this? I feel very angry.
Their support is very poor, late response, and not helpful.
Their full of dashboard and information is totally misleading and unclear. Very unprofessional, limited, and more
I highly recommend avoiding their service. There is lots of good services which is much better than SnapNames.
