Appalling Service – 17 Months of Chasing with No Resolution

Regretfully, we feel compelled to write this review in the hope that our issue will finally be resolved. We were initially set up with payment terminals that did not work with their POS system, forcing us to install alternative card machines to keep our business running.

Despite this, we have continued to be charged for the original terminals, and after 17 months of repeated chasing for an amendment and refund, we have been left completely ignored and ghosted. It really doesn’t get much worse in terms of customer service.

We now have no choice but to share our experience publicly and will be forced to raise a small claim litigation if this is not resolved swiftly. We sincerely hope that this review prompts someone to finally take responsibility and put things right.

Order took weeks to arrive - then hit with massive charge

Order took weeks to arrive, then I was landed with a massive customs bill when it reached the border from China - turns out it's a Chinese factory called "Suzhou Beautiful Electronic" sending the order. The bill was more than the order value!

Smartap refused to refund and I'm still waiting for the goods to even reach me.

It’s not easy to set up

It’s not easy to set up , I tried a lot but it’s very difficult to setup and not much help from customer service. I don’t recommend to buy this product.

They're supposed to be the fastest…

They're supposed to be the fastest service so they can get great reviews but they turned out I ordered my card 10 days ago and hasn't arrived no answer nothing coming back to me I emailed them everything don't waste your money please guys

Hi Everyone

Hi Everyone, not sure if this will help anyone having issues getting their shower online but it helped me.

I've moved my shower to new networks a few times and each time it has been a bit of a fiddle.

When I got my shower, it wouldn't connect to the wifi with the android version of the app. It wasn't passing the credentials to the shower even though it said it did.

I used a borrowed iPhone to get it connected and just assumed the latest android app from Google play store v1.3.2 was slightly broken.

Once connected to the network I could sign into the android app and do everything I needed, like changing settings or controlling the shower.

Two days ago I changed my router and wanted a new network name (SSID) so I tried to use the android app and it still didn't work. I borrowed an iPhone and discovered the app has been removed from the apple app store. If you still have it on an iPhone, don't remove it!!!

So now I'm in a panic about having to rip it out as it won't connect to the old SSID either.

I downloaded Version 1.3.0 of the android app from apkpure instead of using the latest version in the app store and my shower connected to WiFi instantly.

Once you've connected the shower to your network switch back to the latest version of the app.

Sideloading apps from sites such as apkpure could put your phone at risk. If you decide to take the risk as i did, please remove the app as soon as you get what you need.

Complete rip-off

I installed five of these units in a brand-new house. Straightaway three of them stopped working as they would not connect to the Internet. There was no response to all my emails so we are left with a hugely expensive installed system that doesn’t work. I only have one outlet on each time that works. Complete rip-off!

All owners are ignored

Have had the Smartap system for approx 3 yrs now and it has been great. Never had an issue apart from when first installed and the tech support were great!
Fast forward 3yrs, the companies been sold to Masco and merged into hansgrohe and any existing customers are ignored. No help, no support, no spares and no options! Seems im gonna have to rip it out and start again which is a shame as it was such a good system originally.

Awful, avoid at all costs

I've owned a Smartap Shower System for over a year now and have been using it regularly (as you'd hope).

Where do I start? TL;DR - The app is awful, the product is unreliable, the support is non-existent and the website lies. The only thing that is actually positive is the product’s concept.

As far as smart shower systems go it appears to be the best on the (very small) market, it has the most outlet valves, wi-fi control, an Alexa skill for voice commands and even an API for deeper integration. All of these are great features but ALL of them are non-functioning for my system. The valve no longer connects to wi-fi meaning all the smart functions are totally dead. I have 3 different outlets hooked up but I can only use 1 now because it needs to connect to the Smartap servers in order to configure each of the outputs after resetting the device!

Now the Smartap app just tells me that the phone isn’t connected to the network that the valve creates for setup – even though it is. I don’t know if this is a hardware failure or if it’s down to the app its literally not responding after many, many attempts on various devices. The app is so poorly designed and extremely buggy that it makes me think this could be the issue, there is not even a button to turn the shower on and off. Also, it hasn’t been updated in 2 years! I mean, come on! Do customers that invest in this product just get disregarded forever? Looks like it. The UI is awful, it’s as if there was a handbook for User Experience design and they said “Let’s do the opposite of this!”.

The plastic buttons (yes, plastic) on the control have started to have their chrome finish peel away, so corners have been cut wherever possible.

All of these things could be addressed by the support team but, surprise, surprise, they simply ignore any form of communication! The phone number on their site is dead, I’ve sent about 7 emails over the course of last 2 months and no one responds! I’ve tried all the email addresses on their and even used the in-app support request and not a thing, utterly shocking and disappointing that a company can behave this way.

I had hoped that the API could be my saving grace, so that I could mitigate all the tech issues by building my own UI but as Smartap is a ghost company there is not chance of me getting hold of the documentation (if it ever actually existed).

Their website (much like their app) hasn’t been updated in years, Smartap was actually acquired by Masco Corp earlier this year, so it appears all original customers have been left by the wayside. But it’s OK as Asaf has made his millions.

I appreciate this is very much a first world problem, but having just shelled out over £10k on a bathroom renovation with the Smartap system tiled into the wall it’s a frustrating and a horrendously expensive mistake to rectify. Please don’t make the same mistake as me, Mira offer a viable alternative.
