Had prices online so no messing about with call backs and quotes - much prefer the transparency on price.
Very friendly, helpful staff who showed us what the different lockups looked like instead of just guessing off of the stated square footage. Explained the process of hiring the lock up, signing in/out very well.
Very nicely protected.

Very easy and straightforward to rent a unit and the staff are really helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Martyn who helped us pick the right size unit for our needs and answered all of our questions. The storage is very clean and tidy and we wouldn’t hesitate to use them again if needed.

Whatever you do, go elsewhere. DO NOT USE SHURGUARD.

We went into Shurgard to move out my belongings as we no longer needed the unit and encountered the rudest member of staff who created an unpleasant experience from start to finish. We should’ve known we were going to be dealt in an embarrassingly unprofessional manner from the moment we received a voicemail from the store manager breaking multiple GDPR regulations, such as other customers full names & dates they were going to be moving in/out, alongside swearing and complaining about jobs she needed to complete to her colleague. Upon entering the store, and after trying to justify herself for the voicemail she had left, the manager proceeded to point out the change of company and new terms & conditions, to which we could find no evidence of having received an email detailing, and so refused to agree to pay the extortionate difference in price she was claiming we owed. After a long back and forth, including being accused of lying, the manager threw her arms in the air and exclaimed in a sarcastic manner “fine, I’ll leave it at the original price you’re expecting to pay… congrats you saved yourselves £20” (for context she was actually trying to charge an extra £120 on top of what we were expecting to pay upon entering the store, so this was entirely sarcastic and unnecessary). Left speechless at how she had reacted my partner and I waited for her to sort paperwork and load up the card machine to take payment. While waiting we started doing some maths quietly between us to work out how much we had indeed saved by not giving in to T&C’s we had never seen nor agreed to. We ballparked our figure which wasn’t perfectly accurate to the exact penny, so overhearing us the manager felt the need to correct us by saying “um actually it’s £…”. Again, we were speechless at why we were being treated in such a hostile manner over something that ultimately did not even affect her (it’s not like the difference in payment was coming out of her wage!) and so remained silent, paid, and left with our stored items. This was absolutely disgusting treatment by someone who should know better being in a managerial position, and sadly we have heard of other customers being treated in the same hostile way following us. Ultimately, things do go wrong and mistakes happen, whether than be from the company side or the customer, but how staff members deal with this and treat customers makes the world of difference. There was no need for a manager to behave with such hostility, on top of having already left such an unprofessional voicemail. Will absolutely never return to Shurgard, and have been making my best efforts to discourage anyone from ever using them, because the one thing they seem committed to is providing a dissatisfying service.

Clean and tidy with good facilities to make transfer of loads and storage as easy as possible. Check in was quick. Good value too.
