Seamless process from start to finish in-terms of accessing the storage & regular, clear correspondence regarding account & usage.

Got locked in at an unmanned venue because the app stopped working. No emergency exit options. Had to wait until someone became free to travel to the venue and open the gates - they we're openly annoyed at having to travel to help me.

Unnecessarily rude response when I asked why there wasnt a way out if the app or your phone stops working.

Staff either made a point of exerting minimal power to be rigid and petty, acting like helping is inconvent; or tried to help but just kept sending me round in loops trying to follow convoluted processes - seemingly poorly trained and unsupported staff.

The thought of having to deal with future potential issue or go to the venue alone is so stressful.

Would not use Shurgard again. Customer service is too difficult and stressful to navigate.

I tried so hard to remain calm but did eventually get frustrated after being sent in circles and told off for following instructions by another member that were apparently wrong!!

Thought twice about leaving this review in case someone tries to create problems because of it. Seemingly paranoid but a genuine feeling and concern.

There were elements of helpfulness in the beginning. But this was a response to an issue with the set up of my account.
Unfortunately, my experience was mostly negative, which happened on several occasions, and well outweighed any positives.

Simple and fast

Easy to deal with and extremely flexible as I changed the size of the unit and date a couple of times.

There are several problems with this company.

First, they have changed access to require the use of access control software on a mobile 'phone. My 'phone is not compatible, but they fail to answer queries as to how they will facilitate my access to my possessions which I am paying to have stored and have access to. Quite aside from the compatibilitiy issue, it should not be a requirement for me to supplement their authentication infrastructure to gain access to the service I am paying them to provide.

Secondly, when transferring between units, my existing contract was cancelled, and a new contract started. What I was not told, and only came to light 6 weeks later, was that card payment would be required going forward. This means either lodging credit card details with them for regular automated payments (which given the rate at which companies are being compromised and credit card details stolen is not a risk I wish to take) or pay manually every month (which still entails submitting card details, so not much better). They no longer support the far safer mechanism of payment by direct debit. This was an apalling deceit.

Thirdly, the electronic controls (specifically the encryption certificates) on their payment web site are not properly configured and flag up on a secure browser as bogus. They have been notified, and dismissed it out of hand. This is not an issue that should be taken lightly. The format of their emails, links, and the poor security are a potential gift to scammers.

Fourthly, the local office at the Epsom site was closed without warning, and the site is now unmanned. To speak to someone or pay a bill in person requires travelling 5 miles away to the Surbiton site.

And despite the deteriorating levels of service, they have no qualms about keep raising their prices periodically.

My account had been linked to another persons account as a dual account and not separate whilst going through checkout. You need to Improve and update your systems as this is a fault.

Booked a storage unit on line and everything was good but when I got to the unit to put my toolbox in I couldn’t get the movement to put it in ( the unit was a perfect size ) so called the surbiton branch and someone come down to help me find a unit that the toolbox would fit in I forgot the guys name but he went above and beyond to sort it out
