Shurgard Self Storage - Bloomsbury Arvostelua 

Excellent website, staff and facilities. Storage all finalised within a couple of hours and access since setting up has been fine. I was called to check on progress after a couple of days which was nice - I had by then noticed mouse catchers around the site but was assured that there have been no problems within storage units. Overall it’s been a great experience so far.

Amazing - clean, organized - Get the job done!

I was with a company called City Space who were excellent with storing my items during covid. About a year in they sold their business to Shurgard. A few months later Shurgard increased their fees which I paid in full and started making plans to move my items out.

In July 2022 I moved my items out of their Bloomsbury storage facility and confirmed with their agent all was concluded. I also received an email from Shurgard on the same day confirming the closure of my account and any outstanding balance will be refunded to me.

Today I received an invoice from Shurgard for more payment. I called their agent who first told me it was a late payment and when I disputed that he sent an email where I got a call back saying I owed them for 5 days of storage.

I categorically disagree with that and an the agent I spoke to smugly told me I would have to deal with head office then. I spent over £2000 making full payment to this company for them to create a £29 bill months after closing my account and confirming there was no more outstanding bills.

I am writing this for others to be cautious with this company as they are not upfront with their mystery charges even when you ask them in person and in writing to verify that your payment is complete. Please get them to clarify any charges in writing at the point you are closing your account to avoid confusion.

28/09/2022: After leaving this review I have been contacted by the branch who have instituted £0 on the account due to the confusion.

Very good and prompt service. Very efficient and hassle free

1. I was given incorrect information about the size of the storage unit. I was assured it was 9 ft high and it is less than 6 ft high.
2. There were pools of water in the corridor my storage unit is on, and a pool of water outside my storage unit. Although I immediately reported this, the water is still there several days later.
3. I initially booked a smaller unit, cancelled the booking before the start date and booked a larger unit. I was assured the money I paid for the original booking would be refunded to my bank account within 10 days. It wasn't and Shurgard have told me they will keep the money and not give it back to me until my contract ends!
Unfortunately overall, my experience so far is not positive and I am unlikely to use Shurgard again or recommend it to anyone unless things improve significantly.
