Seven Living Arvostelua 

I had a difficult time getting my deposit back after I checked out of my flat. In fact, I had to reach out to Seven living to ask about my deposit, otherwise it would have been forgotten about.

It is a legal requirement that the deposit paid before moving into the rented apartment is protected under one of the three deposit schemes (TDS, TPS and MyDeposits). Unfortunately, Seven Living did not do this. How do I know this? I know this because on the front of my contract it gives the TDS deposit ID, which when you go to the Tenancy Deposit Scheme website and enter that, it says that it is not protected. On the front of the contract it clearly states that the deposit would be protected under the TDS scheme. . . which was not the case.

So when it came to getting back my deposits, they had to search all the way back in their accounts manually to try to find it. So when I asked about when I would get my deposit back, I got a response asking if they could have a screenshot of this deposit payment I had made back in May 2021. I asked them why they needed a screenshot of it, and they replied by saying that they were unable to locate this payment on their side.

Maybe they believed that I had never made the payment (would seven living really let anyone rent one of their places without paying a deposit?) If it was the amount they were looking for, I had sent them a screenshot of their original email which asked the payment for the deposit, the amount, along with their own bank account details which it needed to be paid into.

So I had to go to my local branch and ask them to look as I was unable to look at transactions as far back as I needed to in online banking. Once this was obtained, I took a photo and sent that over to them along with a reminder that it is illegal to have not protected my deposit. The next message I got was a “we have located your payment”.

So much hassle for something that did not need to happen if they had protected my deposit from the start (again, a legal requirement).

Am a new tenant with Seven Living. Sharon kindly organised Kev (the Handyman!) to sort out a legacy issue from a previous tenant and he did a brilliant job. I really appreciate that Sharon/the team are just a phone call or email away. Much prefer this to having to log via a portal! So far so good.
