Seniors Learn Spanish Arvostelua 

Carolina is a wonderful and very patient teacher. I’m a Spanish student at an intermediate level. Carolina has a format that has helped me use “conectores” in order to create conversations and also reply with longer answers than my customary 4 to 6 word responses. Through her method of utilizing common connectors and sentence starters, she has helped me speak more confidently and fluidly. Her lessons have given me a map on how to move forward in speaking Spanish and having better conversations.

For the last 25 years, I have tried—and failed—to learn Spanish using a variety of techniques. I tried every "Learn Spanish in Two Weeks" book, video course, and adult education class. Nothing really worked for me, and I would inevitably give up.

Everything changed when I started working with Carolina a few years ago. In our first year alone, I learned more than in all my previous years combined! I could finally understand, pronounce, and write Spanish sentences, and today, I am able to have simple conversations.

Carolina has done a fantastic job developing a customized learning plan that has dramatically improved my speaking ability. She offers careful guidance and constantly mixes up her teaching techniques to help me progress while keeping things fresh.

To be clear, this isn't magic. You still have to do the work; no one can teach you if you aren't willing dedicate the time to study and practice every day. It’s easy to waste years on entertaining apps like Duolingo that only get you 10% of the way there, but if you want to make *real* progress, Carolina will help you get there.

Carolina has been my teacher, my "maestra", for several years. She is always good natured, always patient, and always attentive to my level of understanding. As an individual student, as opposed to a student in a class, she uses interesting videos to help me learn Spanish in "real life" situations, as opposed to vocabulary lists. The videos give context and the opportunity for me to stretch myself, to learn new vocabulary. We also talk to each other about the videos and about life, so I have an opportunity to develop my conversational abilities.

This was my first time to attempt to speak in Spanish with others and I’m so delighted I took this first step. Carolina made it very comfortable to go at my own pace and was super helpful in guiding me when necessary. I was in a small and friendly group and we not only learned a great amount but it was great fun all the way along. Do this and you won’t have a single regret!

The discussions were a lot of fun and I was able to learn a lot. Carolina was very helpful in guiding the discussions and encouraging us to participate. She corrected us at times but it was gentle. She continued to remind us that the discussions are open and we should speak Spanish as comfortably as we could.
