Ravi Abuvala (creator of Scaling with Systems) sent an email out that they were "hiring" for video thumbnail designers. The email said if you think you've got what it takes, send in a sample of work to see if you get to the second round. OK, did that. Made it to the second phase (unpaid). They wanted a specific thumbnail using their photos and following their criteria. Got it.

At the bottom of that email it says that future work is $50/video (but requires 2 distinctively different thumbnails for them to choose from).
Honestly, for the quality of work that they want, that's insanely undervaluing good design work. Good thumbnails require skill. Carefully listening to the video/transcript, pulling out key details and using some psychology to encourage the view to click and watch. Even with AI, they can take 2hrs to make (photoshopping the person, color-grading, best text placement, layout, etc). Even with solid systems. Even getting both done in 30min would still be undervalued. I must have missed that since it was at the bottom so I spent a lot of time on the project and did a damn good job on it. But the worst part is that they have multiple designers and ONLY PAY for the thumbnails they choose -- not the work the designers do. You want quality but it's a competition and we wouldn't even know if we'd get paid. Seriously?

And they don't even have the courtesy to reply. Even if they didn't choose mine, would be nice to get a response after dedicating my free time as a "test". I assume they didn't "pick me" at this point, but I wouldn't be able to afford to do that work anyways.

The guy makes millions but pays people crap and demands the finest work. Even the tone of the email had ego written all over it. I should have seen the red flags. Just a warning. His courses might be OK but just know that how they are behind the scenes matters when dealing with businesses.

If I could give less than one star, I would.

From day one, Scaling With Systems was a mess. I made it clear during the sales process that the worst possible outcome would be joining a program I wasn’t even qualified for. I had no business, no audience, no assets. They told me I was a perfect fit. That was completely false.

They promised a Self Sustaining Funnel. What I got was a funnel that didn’t convert, a VSL we had to rewrite almost immediately, and follow up systems inside GoHighLevel that looked like they were thrown together in an hour. Nothing was custom. I could have hired someone on Fiverr for a few hundred bucks and gotten better results.

They promised a YouTube strategy roadmap. That was never delivered. I asked multiple times. Eventually someone sent over a generic ChatGPT writeup like it was supposed to check that box. Total joke.

They said I’d have lifetime access to their course. That access was cut off right at the 120 day mark even though I was still paying 97 dollars a month the entire time and for months after I lost access. For a company that’s all about systems, they clearly don’t have one for handling subscriptions or member access.

They also said they’d help me with five YouTube videos. They sent me some generic scripts and disappeared. No edits. No thumbnails. No research. No hooks. No follow up.

Their media system install was just a Google Sheet. No explanation. No guidance.

Even the founder calls were a disaster. I was told I’d get five 60-minute calls with Ravi. One happened. It ended early. That was it.

And on top of everything, they charged me thousands of dollars extra. Twice. No warning. Just billed me.

This company loves to talk about scaling, systems, and world class delivery. What they actually deliver is a half baked program, broken promises, and a complete lack of accountability.
