Sainsbury's Travel money Arvostelua 

The process was very easy and quick. I collected my currency from my nearest store later the same day. The Travel Money staff at my local store were very polite and efficient.

I ordered the travel money (US dollars online to be picked up from the travel bureau at Sainsbury’s in Bicester Oxford. I received the email to say they were ready to be picked up. But I was taken into hospital with a serious condition that I was unaware of.MeNing that my husband had to pick up the US dollars otherwise we would need to pay money it they weren’t picked up. My husband had the card the money was paid for with, which is a joint account card. He even showed him his card(from the joint anccount) all of the identification for myself and for him my passport and my husbands driving license and the email that was sent to me also my email address. The advisor said that he couldn’t give them to my husband. So he had to eventually ask to speak to the manager. My husband explained the situation and finally was given the US dollars. I do believe that there should be something put in place for situations like this. None of us know what is around the corner anything could happen at anytime. We weren’t impressed at all with what has happened even though the advisor is always very helpful and polite. The advisor only lives two doors down from where we live.
I believe all of the evidence was produced to show that this is my husband.

Absolute joke that you can spend £1000 plus on travel money, but have to pay an additional 25p for an envelope to put it in now.

The Story:

I am a 70 year old ordinary member of the public. I am not a terrorist or criminal.
I had ordered some ‘Euros’ online, to be collected at Herne Bay Sainsbury’s. No problem with that.

I went to collect my Euros.

The man in front of me had EXACTLY the same problem as me. His ID was refused too.

I told the staff member my order reference number. I showed her the Payment card that I had used to purchase the Euros.
BUT for ‘Photographic Identification’ all I had with me was my ‘Elderly Persons Bus Pass, which has my photograph on it.

The staff member would not accept this.
She told me that the ‘Photographic Identification’ HAD TO BE either a passport or driving licence.

The staff member told me that if I cancelled the transaction, there would be a charge of £10.

I was unable to collect the travel money that I had paid for at that time and had to drive home ( 16 miles there and back) to get my Driving Licence and Passport.

I then collected my Euros.

The problem:

The E Mail sent out by Sainsbury’s Travel Money is badly worded.

Instead of:
‘Photographic identification ( a valid passport or drivers licence) that matches the payment card for the order.

The Solution:
==========

It should read:

‘Photographic identification ( a valid passport or drivers licence ONLY ) that matches the payment card for the order.

That would make it very clear to everyone that ONLY those two items would be sufficient. It would also help Sainsbury's travel staff.

I have made a complaint about this, with a suggestion to correct the problem. I am still waiting for a reply.
