Rural Retreats Arvostelua 

Very poor customer service. Rural retreats took our booking and deposit. Actually took 2 deposits which I chased and they refunded one deposit. Months later they called us to cancel the booking as the owner wanted to cancel. Many reasons given for cancellation ( from double booked to they took the booking in error to the owner is moving back into the property from overseas) so don’t know which one is true. Still waiting for deposit to be refunded. Will revert to using smaller local agencies as they seem to care more about their reputation and customer service.

Dreadfully rude and ignorant customer service and tried to double invoice.

Booked a family break to then be called to told the owner had changed minds and was not taking bookings but they were happy to take my money, took ages get a refund, lost count the number of times i had to chase for the refund.

Only reason I got the refund in the end as i gave them a dead line before i took them to the small claims court

Booked a beautiful Barn conversion almost 13 months ago, for my wife & I (& our 2 dogs) to enjoy some luxury for a special birthday. We were told JUST 10 DAYS before we were due to leave, that it was still be refurbished, and they had to cancel. They offered Herefordshire as an alternative - err.....we booked Stratford on Avon for very special reasons! Did they even look at a map to see how far away that county is??
It was of-course, paid in full by then.
I simply couldn't find anything else that had a Mon to a Mon available (we were moving on to another cottage with a different company for our 2nd week, so couldn't change our dates) - so had to resort to searching hotels - ones that would take 2 dogs. Like others on here, I feel we are due compensation - I lost over 4 hours of my life on Friday, trying to get a replacement - & it has cost more (over £200), and I've had to drop a day off the start of our holiday due to the cost. What a shambles. I haven't even had a written apology - just an email explaining about the refurbishment! To add insult to injury, I still haven't received the bulk of my refund back yet.
Fingers crossed the hotel lives up to it's website.
Sadly, I think Rural Retreats doesn't even look at review pages.

Terrible customer service. When we arrived at our holiday cottage. one of the bedrooms smelt very strongly of cigarette smoke. This made the room very unpleasant to be in, let alone sleep in.

We opened all the windows and alerted Rural Retreats immediately. I was told that someone would contact me the following morning. No one did until I chased. I was told that it would not be possible to do anything during our stay. I indicated then that I would be seeking compensation - by the time we left, the smell still hadn't gone.

I followed up immediately after returning home. The company admitted that they knew the room smelt appallingly (but did not think to contact us or offer any compensation in advance). I was offered £100 towards another Rural Retreats holiday. I am not sure I would ever book with this company again, so I asked for £100 in cash. Given that we paid over £1800 for 3 nights and the smell really marred our experience, this is a proportionate request. My email and follow up emails have all been ignored.

I have contacted trading standards and consumer protection correspondents as this is a really poor standard of service.

Have tried 4 different numbers to contact Rural Retreats re a potential booking in September. Cannot even leave a message as their Mailbox is full...... emailed them but got a reply basically stating ‘You will hear from us’ do not contact us.....angry and frustrated

One of the many pursuing a refund for an April holiday when only a 12 month credit note was offered. Have also reported them to the CMA.

After weeks of "negotiation" Rural Retreats finally agreed to refund my money for a cancelled holiday. Its now 3 weeks since they agreed and I'm yet to receive my refund even though I have reminded them them that it took exactly 5 seconds for me to pay them when I booked the holiday. Radio silence is not acceptable and the service is appalling

Shabby company. Booked a light house cottage and was due to go in April. I have been refused a refund I am entitled to and reported them to CMA. They need to be prosecuted. The lighthouse is a part of Trinitas Sevices ( Trinity House) and they to are complicit in this poor business behaviour. Do not trust - avoid!
