My shopping experience with Royal Basic…

My shopping experience with Royal Basic has been excellent. My parcel arrived on time, and the quality of the product exceeded my expectations. What you see online is exactly what you receive, which I really appreciate. Their customer service is also exceptional, friendly, responsive, and professional throughout. I’m genuinely impressed with the overall experience and will definitely be shopping with them again. Highly recommended!

Poor experience

Complete scam of a company.
Shipping took almost 2 weeks, then when I wanted to return an item it took several emails and an attempt to charge £19.95, which was 1/4 of the price of the item. It's clearly set up to be prohibitive.

Exceptionally poor customer services

Error with ordering item. Slow customer services response. Phone line went no where. Eventually given option to return original item but pay the postage or keep it and pay postage on a second item. Opted for the latter... over a week later and still nothing. Arrange callback of charge and received multiple nasty emails. Should have taken more notice of their poor reviews. Stay away from this company!!

We are sorry to hear that you remain dissatisfied, but we would like to provide some important context for anyone reading this review.

After reviewing your order, our records show that the variant selected at checkout was the multi-color option, not the solid brown variant. Your order was placed on May 16 and delivered on May 29, which is 10 business days and within our stated delivery timeframe of 8–14 business days.

Although the delivered item matched the variant selected during checkout, we still offered a goodwill resolution. We gave you the option to keep the item received and pay only £15 shipping for us to send the All Dark Brown version, or return the item using a return label and pay the same £15 shipping fee.

We always try our best to assist every customer respectfully and professionally. However, during this communication, our support team received repeated demands, abusive language, and insults directed toward our staff. We understand that order issues can be frustrating, but respectful communication helps us resolve matters much more effectively.

Despite this, we went beyond our normal policy and agreed to let you keep the original product free of charge while sending the All Dark Brown version if you covered only the shipping cost, which was approximately one-quarter of the product value. You agreed to this arrangement, removed your original review, requested the replacement, and paid the £15 shipping fee.

However, only a few days later, before the replacement shipment could be completed, you initiated a chargeback with your bank. At that point, we had to suspend the shipment and handle the matter through the formal dispute process.

Our question remains the same: if a refund was ultimately what you wanted, why agree to the replacement arrangement, remove the review, and pay for the replacement shipping in the first place?

The product was top notch quality

The product was top notch quality, especially for the price point. It was better than pictured and described. Likhon in customer service went above and beyond to guide me through the ordering process, since I had a few questions. I am a designer, and will use them again and again for my various projects. Highly recommend!!!

Master Class in Customer Service

I purchased some lights that were damaged in transit - which was gutting. But Royale Basic were amazing and offered to replace (Amarty in customer service was super speedy - which was so refreshing) I decided that I did not want the lights after all , and wanted totally different ones instead. I asked an expert and I got partnered with Likhon who was fabulous - I am that person who challenges even the most patient - wanting to know about customisation, wattage, whether the original discount will apply - you know the type. But they were amazing - patient, offering really good advice, and product advice, basically I was given a master class in good customer service and even better delivered with a sense of humour. So Likhon wherever you are - you keep being you. :)

THEY CANCELLED TO INCREASE THE PRICE

I ordered on May 20th and they said in 3 days my item will be shipped. No movement on their website, after 12 days they cancelled my item mentioning that it was damaged by courier but it didnt even left their store, and they cant send replacement cause its the last one. When i asked their CS, they mentioned having it and they can even add note to ship it quickly, The bad part - - their price increased from £75 (2pcs) to £104.40 (2pcs). This shows that they cancelled my item due to wanting to sell it in more expensive price. and they wasted too much of my time as my project needs it.

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience and frustration caused. However, we would like to clarify that your order was not cancelled to increase the price.

Your original order was shipped within 2 days. Unfortunately, before it reached the last-mile shipping carrier, the shipment was destroyed due to a carrier truck accident. At that time, the 2 units you ordered were the last available units for the specific variant selected, so we contacted you and issued a full refund upfront.

When you later reached out to us via chat, our team mistakenly checked the stock status of another variant, which showed incoming inventory within 3 days. Based on that, we offered to help you place a second order and also offered free express shipping once the new inventory arrived.

Because the newer incoming inventory had a different supplier cost, the price was no longer the same as the older inventory. This was explained before the second order was placed. However, after the order was reviewed by our warehouse team, we found that the exact variant you selected was not available and would not be restocked. For that reason, we contacted you again and issued another full refund.

We sincerely apologize for the confusion and the incorrect stock information provided by our team. This was an internal mistake, not an attempt to cancel your order to resell it at a higher price.

Stylish light but the wrong size

The light was beautiful and just what we wanted, but unfortunately the base was too small to fit the openning in the wall where it was supposed to be installed leaving an opening around the edges. I’m not sure if this is made for European application, but our hook up size is pretty standard for the U.S.

Absolutely amazing customer service…

Absolutely amazing customer service from start to finish. They have been so helpful with all my questions and very responsive throughout. The light itself looks stunning and has such a premium, luxury design. Highly recommend Royale Basic.

Would definitely order again

I honestly can’t relate to many of the negative reviews here. I ordered the Lumora Classic Cordless Lamp and my experience was completely smooth from start to finish.

Shipping to Germany naturally took a few extra days, but the package arrived safely and in perfect condition. The lamp itself is beautiful - timeless, elegant, and perfect for camping trips or cozy evenings on our balcony. It’s very easy to charge via Micro USB and can be turned on and off with a simple touch control.

Shipping was processed quickly and I received a tracking number immediately after ordering.

Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase.

I ordered the Lumora Cordless lamp for my work desk and I am very impressed, it is very lightweight gives off the light needed and overall is a good product. It has worked well when needed light in another place as very easy to move and again does the job. Charged very fast and even my wife has used it for reading at night and we will be ordering more. Order process was easy and we also received the product in a timely manner.

I ordered some lights which looked the same as a much more expensive brand and when they arrived they were great - can’t fault them at all.

My electrician broke a shade and the company replaced the shade immediately and I didn’t have to buy a whole new light and they even responded to my request out of hours!

Too many platitudes. Avoid. High Risk.

This company responds to issues. However, there is a reason why 88% of their reviews are negative. There is an overemphasis on customer service rather than the quality of products and reliable information. Conflicting shipping information which contravenes FTC. They tried to penalise me for a business negotiation for reverse charges they were making with my bank that did not go in their favor. Their telephone number is answered by a non-English speaking female, which flagged up a security concern. I have unsubscribed but keep getting sales emails.

I have had a reply from the company. I have written evidence that they stated they are penalising me for charges my bank would not reverse. If they cannot deal with charges they should stop trading. Charges are nothing to do with the customer, it is part of a normal business procedure so don't involve customers with them. I emailed and told Royal Basic that I telephoned them - using the number on their website that they advise to call - and the issue that caused when I spoke to someone who did not speak English at all and was very strange. I called them because I was not getting answers to my emails. Suddenly, after that call, I got several email responses. Wanting to have good relations with people, I contacted my bank and continued with orders and re ordering after a discussion with my bank about the status of Royal Basic. I cancelled an order because the item was to small. I tried to make sure that was done before the process of the order changed to shipped. The process screen was not up to date and did not change. I said in my review that Royal Basic responded to issues. I was giving a fair review without moaning. This is not supposed to be a fight. I do not expect a private transaction to be discussed in detail. Therefore stating that they dealt with issues, was sufficient for the reader of a review who was purchasing or thinking about purchasing from them. The reviews are for the potential customer not Royal Basic. It was the professional approach. However, they appear to be unable to secure good customer service when they are responding to reviews. Like their emails, they give the right thing to say - that is called platitudes - but do not deal with thing properly. I have read the reviews. So I will elucidate: In addition to the strange response on their telephone number, Royal Basic also did not like the fact that I continued to be concerned about the authenticity of my order after they advised next day shipping and then changed the delivery details by sending me several emails. There are many reviews stating various delivery issues and often no goods ever arriving. That is a cause for concern. I can take this further if you wish Royal Basic. I think that your emails are over the top - hence my comment about platitudes - at the expense of providing correct information. Everything I have said is correct. My discussions with my bank are recorded if you wish to take this further. You had no concern that I was worried after trusting you with another order, when you were giving different information that your site stated, about shipping times that if an order was made within ten minutes of landing on the site it would be shipped the next work day. I have a screen shot of that. You told me that I was a fraud risk after you took two lots of money from me, which I had freely given, after I made a company check on your business. I still have an email stating your accusation. You gave me no reassurance. Your retort to my review says that you are not interested in the customer. I do not like that. Good business puts the customer first. Then they return to buy again. I advise anybody to take care as I was told by Royal Basic: First, I would be penalised and Second, I was a fraudster. I have email evidence to prove those things. You have told me that I threatened a charge back. I did no such thing. Show me evidence for that. That is a lie. This is your comment from your email reply that you posted on TrustPilot "We then received a notification that you had already contacted your bank to initiate a chargeback. At that point, we proactively issued a full refund and declined to proceed with the order." That is not true. I did not initiate a charge back. That is not the reasons you have given me for cancelling the order. Your reasons were fraud. You told me that it would take a longer to ship because of demand. You did not tell me they were out of stock. Nor did the site reflect that. You first emailed me about charge backs and that my bank had refused a charge back. I called my bank to check this and there is no evidence of any action from me. Also I have a full email correspondence trail between Royal Basic and me. Your work ethic is wanting. If you have any contact from me hereafter it will be through a third party to initiate proceedings for defamation.

Your review leaves out key parts of what actually happened, so here is the full timeline for clarity:

April 18: You placed your first order, then requested cancellation multiple times within 24 hours. We cancelled it immediately as requested.

You then placed a second order, followed by repeated emails within hours regarding address concerns and early chargeback threats. We responded promptly and confirmed everything correctly.

Shortly after, we informed you the item was temporarily out of stock with 2–4 business days handling time, and offered a full refund if you didn’t wish to wait. You agreed to wait.
The very next day, despite that agreement, you began threatening a chargeback if the order did not ship immediately—before the stated handling window had passed.

We then received a notification that you had already contacted your bank to initiate a chargeback. At that point, we proactively issued a full refund and declined to proceed with the order.

At no point were you “penalized.” The order was refunded in full, promptly, and without dispute. When a customer initiates or signals a chargeback before the agreed processing window, it is standard practice for any business to halt fulfillment and refund.

A few other points in your review are simply incorrect:

We do not have non-English-speaking support answering our phones.

We do not send emails after a confirmed unsubscribe—if you are still receiving messages, it is likely due to multiple subscriptions or a delay in propagation, and we are happy to fix that directly.

We stand by clear communication and fair handling. In your case, we honored every request—cancellation, confirmation, and ultimately a full refund—despite repeated escalation within less than 48 hours.

Product (coat rack) was really poor…

Product (coat rack) was really poor quality, I'd have struggled to pay 1/4 of what I did and feel it was worth it.
Found the refund process annoying. Asked for pictures when submitting the request, then an email asking for a video so had to unwrap it, then many back and forth emails offering patrial refund, new replacement etc etc when I was clear in each one I was requesting to return it and had to start quoting the website. Finally sent a label but told I if didn't use it in 7 days would no longer be eligible for a return/refund which I thought was cheeky given I'd spent 2 weeks prior going back and forth via email. Overall the customer service was helpful (polite and responded to emails reasonably quickly) but I have having to negotiate for a return that I'm entitled to. Refund now arrived.

You’re right about one thing: the process took longer than it should have. That’s on us.

To clarify, we request images/videos at the start to verify product issues and improve quality control with suppliers — not to delay returns. The partial refund and replacement options are standard alternatives we offer, but they should never feel like pressure when a customer has clearly chosen a return. In your case, we didn’t handle that cleanly.

Regarding the 7-day return label window — that exists because return labels are time-bound by carriers, but given the back-and-forth beforehand, we agree it came across poorly.

The key point: your return was accepted and fully refunded, as per our policy — but the experience getting there wasn’t smooth, and that’s what we’re addressing internally.

Appreciate you acknowledging the responsiveness of our team — and equally, we take the friction you experienced seriously.

Royal basic stand by their word

On the 4th of April I purchased two car seat covers I wanted to make an enquiry about the product before it was processed customer service had a communication breakdown
And by passed my inquiry and shipped the order to my address in
New Zealand when I received it about 3 weeks latter
It wasn't what I expected and wasn't suitable I requested a full refund and return shipping label back to Canada they try to generate retutn shipping label but it didn't go through
Got an email from the
Royal Basic customer manager saying I could keep the sheepskin covers and they will refund me in full within 2 days got confirmation that my refund it's been processed back onto my credit card
Royal Basic are an
Honorable company I would recommend them to friends and family or anyone that would like to purchase from them
