Nestled in a valley with glorious colours in the hills and mountains is the assembly of houses and cottages that are at Rostrevor Holidays. My cottage looked out on to wild hills and nearby is the river which flows along the edges of the demesne and its sounds of water and rock as well as bird song and bleating sheep make the soundtrack for this magical place not far from the lovely village of Rostrevor. CS Lewis imagined Narnia as that place above Rostrevor where the hills touch Carlingford Lough. The place restores the mind and you are left alone to enjoy the natural beauty of this beautiful place. The demesne is well laid out and feels open and private at the same time. The unobtrusive management style of the staff and owners is also very responsive and helpful when you need assistance. I felt like I was at home even though the demesne is new to me. I liked it so much I booked a few extra days and am reluctant to leave. The cottage is very cosy and spacious. The kitchen is well appointed. The bed is excellent. The bathroom also has a huge bath which was so good to enjoy. There are shops and restaurants in Rostrevor and some also at Hilltown. You’ll not want to leave the demesne so bring your food and supplies and make the most of this gem of a place
