Quilva is a complete writing and creative workspace designed to take a project from the first idea through to the finished piece of work. It combines planning, outlining, mindmapping, notes, research, story and scene organisation, drafting, editing, document design and publishing into one application, giving writers a single place to develop and produce substantial written work. Whether you're writing a novel, screenplay, essay, book, research project or other long-form document, Quilva is designed to support the entire creative process rather than simply acting as a word processor. At the heart of Quilva is the ability to see and organise the thinking behind a piece of writing. Projects can be structured using outlines, story cards, scenes, notes, characters, timelines and other planning tools, allowing ideas to be developed and rearranged before and during the writing process. The writing environment then brings this material together into a focused workspace where the actual document is created, revised and developed. Quilva also includes tools for formatting, designing and publishing finished work, allowing the project to remain in one place from initial concept to final PDF or document. Quilva is also built around a fundamentally different approach to authorship and AI-generated writing. Rather than attempting to analyse a finished piece of text and guess whether it was produced by artificial intelligence, Quilva can record evidence of the writing process as the work is created. It can record activity such as typing, editing, deletions, pauses, writing time and the distinction between typed and pasted content, creating a record of how the document developed. This process evidence can be used to generate a Human Authorship Certificate containing a QR code, allowing the creation history of the work to be independently viewed and verified. Quilva is offline-first and designed to keep the work on the user's own computer. Writing and authorship information do not need to be uploaded to a cloud service for Quilva to function, making it particularly suitable for schools, institutions and anyone who wants greater control over their work and data. Quilva brings together the tools needed to plan, create, refine, publish and document the creation of written work in one application — putting the focus back where it belongs: on the work itself and the person who created it.

Quilva has been a breath of fresh air. I have been looking for something that is a one-stop-shop! I have multiple subscriptions across different platforms which I don't like and Quilva has solved this for me. I can plan (with many different tools), write, and design. Go into all the details to create the exact book I want without swapping and changing between platforms. Love it!
This is not like Mircosoft Word. It can do a lot. The more you use it, the more you realise how everything links together - all the tabs stay in sync and you can work on a project from any angle/perspective, and build it up in a very non-linear way. The card boxes and stack system is great, dragging them to and from timelines. It's a beast of a planning tool for anyone who's focused on structure.

Thank you! Glad you're enjoying Quilva!
Despite all the tabs and features, I like Quilva for its retreat mode and typewriter setting with auto tab. It's distraction free and feels like I'm using a typewriter that's always scrolling the page as I write. I haven't dug into the more advanced features yet but the writer is just really nice to use, and the auto tab keeps formatting consistent. You do have to go into settings and check the 'All tools' box for headings and lists, which was a bit confusing at first. Sue.

Thank you! Glad you're enjoying Quilva!
I've tried many writing applications in the past, and when I came across Quilva it was exactly what I was looking for. I absolutely love how it allows me to plan and view the structure of my book. It's so easy to see Chapters and Scenes, to move them around in the editing phase of writing and to see a visual representation. I also love the infinite page with limited formatting that allows me to just concentrate on writing without formatting changes distracting me all the time. That said, Quilva does have the ability to publish your book and gives you complete control over the formatting, but I have not yet used these features because I bought the Standard version, not the Pro version. I'm not worried about publishing at this time, I just want to be able to write the story first.
