QuantConnect has a great platform for developing trading strategies. My development environment is VSCode and Claude Code. I am a long time quant, short time QC user but I learn something meaningful every day and get more productive every day. Peer user support and QC sponsored support is great. 100%

Quantconnect offers a seamless environment to test your code, backtest for results, and deploy to production. They also have an active community with a lot of great ideas and a willingness to share.

Some downsides are that it takes some commitment to learn the platform. It's also a little pricey compared to doing it yourself. But in the end you pay for convenience as the only comparable alternative is a do-it yourself alternative of writing code on your own, integrating with a broker, and deploying on AWS. This alternative still has costs - particularly your time spent.

I fully endorse Quantconnect, especially to those that want to spend more time earning money over managing a code base and deployment infrastructure.

Great platform, I have been using it for a while now and it really is spectacular, so thanks for the platform.

So why am I not giving it 5 stars? Well, as a EU citizen, I can't create algorithms that trades ETFs.
For regulatory reasons, I cannot trade ETFs like QQQ, because it doesn't have a KID (nothing to do with QuantConnect).

However, QuantConnect has no integrations with any EU exchanges! That means that all of the EU alternatives are blocked, and this is a QuantConnect decision. So even though I can trade the EU ETFs through my broker, and QuantConnect has an integration to the broker, QuantConnect isn't allowing the trade with the EU alternative. Furthermore, since there isn't a single integration with any EU exchanges, I'm blocked from trading ETFs altogether. Just an FYI for any Europeans considering this platform.

QuantConnect suggests exchanging the ETF with the corrosponding CFD. This, however, is only feasible for intraday strategies, not for rebalancing strategies that works on higher timeframes since CFDs come with overnight fees from the brokers, quickly adding up.

Again, great platform, but as a EU citizen, you're just not prioritized, and you won't be any time soon.

QuantConnect is a great platform for retail quants and quant firms, which do not want or do not have the resources to build the whole backtesting and live trading infrastructure and do all the data wrangling themselves.
It provides an easy-to-use backtesting platform for your strategies, and without modifications of the code, they could be deployed for live trading. Most importantly, it has all the data you could wish for cleaned up and ready to use.

I would like to add that you can really run a great variety of strategies, on single etf/futures/crypto, to universes of stocks and from technical analysis to calendar effects and using third party data (e.g., sentiment), etc. Also you can use usual Python Machine Learning packages, etc. So far, I haven't come across a strategy that I could not somehow implement within the QuantConnect ecosystem.

For me, this is as straightforward as it gets, so I can wholeheartedly recommend.

QuantConnect is a game-changing platform, leveling the playing field and democratizing access to sophisticated infrastructure. It is a great partner for your investing journey, whether you're a professional or aspiring fund manager or even a student! I highly recommend it!

I'm a big fan of QuantConnect.

Previous to this, I was writing a code (mostly using AI) that would talk to IBKR directly.

Suffice to say, my code was pretty buggy, and I'd run into really strange things with interactive.

Also, I had to write my code twice:
1. Once for backtests
2. And a second time for live execution

And so naturally bugs cropped up between them.

I also always had to write code that would deal with fees and I was also paying Polygon $100/month for just data.

Being able to unify the code and backtest and run with the same code was a huge win for me. I actually saved money because I could cancel Polygon and just use their data.

QuantConnect does have some sharp edges. And some of the documentation and AI features took me a while to find out or to figure out. But it's certainly been worth it.

Also Jared, who is I believe the founder of the CEO at least is involved in the day-to-day operations. The Discord chat is really useful and really active, so you can always pop in and ask questions there. Their new AI bot in Discord ("Mia") has been super duper helpful. I'll often produce code samples directly from it - and often it "just works" right out of the box, so they're much better than using ChatGPT or Claude to generate code. The custom AI bot has better training data, so the code that it spits out is really good.

If you're at all on the fence on this, I would definitely try it out. It's definitely worth using it and has saved me so much time, frustration, and money. I'm a big fan.

QuantConnect has been a real game changer for me. The platform is well-tailored to my needs as a quantitative trader.
It provides the kind of professional infrastructure that was once only accessible to large firms, but is now available to individual quants like myself.

Very easy tool to use for creating, backtesting, optimizing and going live with a trading strategy. I went from concept to live trading in less than a month. It probably helped that I have a programming background. But really Quantconnect made it so easy and simple.

QuantConnect has been an absolute game-changer for my algorithmic trading journey. I really like that QC is both beginner friendly (has instructive bootcamp classes, intuitive UI for coding and viewing plots/results, and extensive built-in functions) but also supports complex designs, i.e. no limiting assumptions or constraints on the user’s algorithms. The parameter optimization tool is really convenient and connecting to IB has been smooth and reliable. QC makes it possible for anyone (that can program) to explore algorithmic trading.

Everything a retail trader needs to start building algos right out of the box. Supportive community. What more could you ask for?

I have been an early user of QuantConnect since 2014 and the platform along with the team consistently managed to exceed my expectations. In particular, with the heavy lifting they did with handling Terabytes of minute-resolution options data (as well as tick data for equities and futures) all easily available in the cloud. A fairly extensive test coverage of the open-sourced Lean engine brings confidence in things working as expected. While there is no such thing as perfectly realistic backtesting, QuantConnect comes close enough with their reality modeling efforts. The Algorithm Framework also facilitates modular thinking about the building blocks of an investment/trading strategy. Overall - in my opinion, the best starting point available for serious and thoughtful diving into quantitative finance.

We’ve been using QuantConnect as our main and only quant platform for ca 5 years. We’ve ended up on QC after years of trying to find a platform with a comprehensive scope, supporting an algorithmic trading pipeline end to end. We’re particular fans of what QC calls the Algorithm Framework, which allows for a modular separations of concerns based setup.

A very powerful cloud-based platform to build, test, an run trading algos. It offers breadth and depth of features as well as the convenience of their cloud infrastructure (no need to source separate VPS for backtesting, optimization, or live runs) and datasets.

Best quant platform. Braught me to another level. I can now execute what was impossible with MT5.

would I trust quant connect to run a live algo with real money NO!!! The coding environment has lots of bugs, wont save files, this is a frequent occurance, projects fail to open for hours then magically fix themselves according to support. Their AI assistan is garbage. Their documention is poor they basically want you to buy their book for another 36 USD. First month in and lots of wasted time.

Could do backtest and live trade. Price could be cheaper.
