The procedure of a Full Vascular and Heart Ultrasound went very well, the consultants were very helpful in explaining the findings. Reports and images were provided with a summary. I think this type of examination is very useful to understand what is actually going on in your body now rather than waiting until something happens, puts you ahead of the curve. If you can afford it, I would recommend investing in this procedure; money well spent.

Swift, professional, reassuring

Following high levels of cholesterol over the last 10 years ranging from 5 to 5.9 I decided to get a CIMT test ultrasound to establish whether or not there was evidence of heart disease. High cholesterol levels are not the only source of evidence of heart disease therefore a CIMT test and Doppler test are imperative before you go down the route of statins. The booking was done over the phone and I managed to get a same-day appointment at The Central london clinic. It is literally a five minute walk from Chancery Lane. My sonographer Gwen was thorough and professional, calm and efficient. She reassured me and spoke throughout the scan, which is a great touch. I’m pleased to say the results were clear and so I won’t be going down the route of statins. I think these tests should be made available on the NHS as cholesterol testing in its own is not enough. I managed to get an offer for both the Doppler test which measures the arterial thickness as well as the CIMT ultrasound for £245. My results were delivered via encrypted email within less than 24 hours. The admin staff from booking were excellent and efficient and followed up with a courtesy call as I had queried whether or not there were any more cardiology tests available to establish the onset of heart disease. No complaints and definitely recommend.
