This has been an extremely disappointing experience from the day of purchase. I attempted to engage with customer service to cancel my purchase within a couple of hours from lodging the purchase request because my mother did not need the watch as she already has one, and found it to be an extremely challenging and uncooperative experience. Even though the watch was not dispatched until more than one week later, they refused to cancel my order and issue my refund. The delivery was extremely tardy, and arrived more than two weeks later, and well after my mother's birthday. Although they advertise a return/refund policy, they do not honour it. I have since found out that Choice Magazine rates this company very poorly. Based upon my personal experience, I would avoid purchasing from this company at all costs and look elsewhere.

I have purchased a personal alarm from Personal Alarms Australia for my elderly father, who is living alone, since the loss of our mother.
We all thought that our Dad would be very reluctant to wear this device. Due to his own personal alarm situation, he wears this device everyday. Any queries we have had with personalalarms, have been dealt with so promptly, by their customer service section. Telstra were great with the initial set up, which includes 3 phone numbers being family and the third is 000. This also shows the location of Dad. It is a very good investment and gives the family assurance that Dad would be located if family didn’t respond!

I have a number of clients in aged contexts who live independently and need fall alarms for their safety. Personal Alarms Australia has provided them really quick for us in the past and so far we have had no complaints. Really appreciate their quick service.

Purchased personal alarm after minor fall, activated through Telstra, needed help with programming but now working well. Needed clarification on couple of issues, very prompt response to my email. Great service thank you.

I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT/ COMPANY
We purchased a personal falls alarm for my partner who has Parkinson’s disease and is having frequent falls, we bought this product as it was advertised as an Australian company. Since purchase the alarm has NOT worked at all, either when my partner falls or if you drop it onto the ground (carpet) despite altering the setting to its most sensitive level. There followed a multitude of emails eventuating in a replacement alarm being sent to us. There were issues with the replacement alarm as soon as it was out of the box, the SIM cradle did not want to open and we were advised to use “a bit of pressure”, we managed to fit the SIM card but this new alarm still did not work as advertised, but we agreed that we would persevere with it for the time being. I asked on more than one occasion what the guarantee period was for this device and did not receive an answer. This second alarm then stopped charging altogether and I advised the company on the 25th July and then resent this email again on 6 August and I have not heard another word from them. I had previously posted a negative review on Trustpilot for this company and was asked to remove it while the issues were sorted out. The issues were NEVER resolved and now there is a TOTAL lack of communication with this company.
This company is very unreliable and a SHAM, their product does not work and the support that you receive is appalling, apart from the money spent it leaves vulnerable people at risk.

I bought the Personal Alarm pendant after a fall. It provides all the features necessary: three nominated numbers, GPS, and easy to follow instructions. The yearly SIM rate to run the phone is economical by comparison with other products. Customer service was good and delivery swift. All good.

Great service from personal alarms, the alarm works great and was really easy to set up

Since Mum passed away, my dad has been living on his own in Townsville, so we got this to give everyone a bit more peace of mind. It’s reassuring knowing he has an easy way to contact us if something goes wrong. The large SOS button is particularly useful as his eyesight isn’t as good these days. The battery life has been excellent so far, and overall, it’s a really good device for the price.

Bought the mobile phone for senior and very happy being that it has big buttons, easy to use, the ringtone is super loud and perfect even when the sound is turned down as it is still loud enough to hear. Icons are big enough as well on the phone, great feature it also has a torch and you can also listen to FM/AM radio stations. Thankyou so much!! well suited for senior.

While still under warranty, my wife's personal alarm stopped working. Can't get a clear answer from company regarding a replacement and they do not have a phone number.
Update: 12 days in and the company is refusing to respond, so I have made a formal complaint to Consumer and Business Services and launched a civil action.
Further update: 2 August.
I can now advise that, after much badgering, the company has now provided a replacement alarm. However, given that this is an item that could save lives, there needs to be further investigation of companies in this space. But I've update the star rating to 3 because it does actually work (until it doesn't).

If you buy the Medical Alert Watch for the Elderly from Personal Alarms Australia, be ready for a world of frustration and malfunction. Prepare for the likelihood that the watch will end up sitting unused in a drawer.

The problems begin with inadequate instructions for setting it up the watch. Even if you can read the tiny, tiny print, many details that you will need are not included.
The next problem we experienced was that the watch is hyper-sensitive. For example, it mistakes sitting in a chair for a fall. The watch has a range of sensitivity settings, but we had many false alarms even on the least sensitive setting.
Another problem is battery life. The watch needs to be constantly charged. It could not last more than 24 hours – possibly because of all the false alarms, which are likely to drive your support people crazy. They will need to constantly call you to check if you have had a fall and need help, or if it was just another false alarm.

Personal Alarms Australia responds to concerns, but is ultimately unhelpful. We were told that it is normal to expect a couple of false alarms every day, and that to extend battery life we should turn down the brightness (which means that we could not properly see the screen).
Personal Alarms Australia says that it will entertain returns, but will only make a refund if the product is returned and found to be faulty in their opinion. Our experience is that they suggest that you accept a different alarm instead. When we said we want a watch that actually works as it is meant to, we got an endless list of suggestions and requests for information and screen shots to avoid having the watch returned for testing, and that eventually wore us down. We have lost all confidence in this watch, which fails to accurately detect falls and provide appropriate notifications. We have also lost all confidence in Personal Alarms Australia and recommend that you avoid this company and its products.

Easy to set up and use. Highly recommended.

Its’s a great Watch
I bought this watch around 18 months ago for my 85- year- old wife.
I found that the setup was simple using the app which you download from the Google app store (SeTracker2).
After purchasing the sim card from Telstra on their 6 month casual plan @ $39, for this you get 110 mins of calls and 114 text messages, these amounts are ample, I have never used the quota on the 6-month plan.
After studying the app, I could see great potential for using the watch as a means of communication with my wife and I, if we leave our mobiles behind, which we often do.
So I bought another for myself, now we can call each other to check on each of us, I have them set so that they answer automatically after they ring 3 times.
Having our extra phone number is handy for my daughters, if they cant reach us on our mobiles they will call to our watch number.
You can receive any amount of calls on the Telstra plan.
We can also keep a check on each other's wareabouts using a very accurate GPS and take a photo of where the other person is, this is then loaded to the app with the watch position.
The watch has only around 2 days of battery usage, but this is not a problem as we charge our phones every night next to our bed, We feel that this is the thing to do as the watch is there for emergencies if help is needed during the night.
This watch is perfect for our situation.
If I had young children, it would be one of the first things I would buy them.
This watch is by far the best value on the market, I know I have looked at them all.
I have a Samsung Galaxy $500 Smart watch which is nowhere as usefull as this one, you can't put a sim into it.

My mother-in-law recently received her Medical Alert Watch. Unfortunately, it was not quite the right fit for her needs, as viewing the time requires pressing the mode button first, which is difficult as she only has the use of one arm.

However, the follow-up service from Brooke was excellent, and we were very grateful for the understanding and support shown by Personal Alarms. They kindly arranged a full refund, and the matter was handled promptly and professionally. Although the product was not suitable in this instance, the customer service was greatly appreciated.

With holding a REFUND for a FAULTY item on the basis of----REFUND could be expedited----if REVIEW REMOVED.
Alarm watch purchased 1/01/2025. MAJOR FAULT of GPS--NOT WORKING. Sent back to company ( at their request ) Assessment done, watch obviously could not be fixed.
AUTOMATICALLY SENT A REPLACEMENT.
According to Consumer Affairs= THIS==is when I was entitled to a REFUND or REPLACEMENT.
I asked for a refund == 2 DAYS---after recieving replacement. THIS WAS MARCH 5th,
After SEVERAL emails were exchanged, it bacame clear that Personal Alarms were NOT going to give me a refund.
End of MARCH, 2025, I posted a review on another web site. THE VERY NEXT DAY= P.A. owner emailed me---waiting on assessment, could expedite my refund IF I REMOVED MY REVIEW.
Another similar email followed ==MID APRIL== then APRIL 22 nd 2025===assessment done, MINOR FAULT.
I have approached Fair Trading. Their response, "" he did the right thing by sending a replacement "" I DID NOT WANT A REPLACEMENT. How was I to know that a replacement watch was not faulty also??
A Current Affair ( SEVERAL EMAILS )==NO RESPONSE.
Started a Q.C.A.T. CASE 27th MAY 2025.
Was on a bus to my local Court House to lodge==what I hoped was the last of the paper work for Q.C.A.T. ==SEPTEMBER 8th 2025== when the bus was in a accident. I sustained SEVERAL INJURIES, and due to my age ( 87 ) my life was in doubt for a day or so.
I spent almost 3 weeks in hospital, and decided to let my Q.C.A.T. case go. IT WAS NOT WORTH ALMOST LOSING MY LIFE.
STILL hoping to get a refund===but MORE IMPORTANTLY===TO STOP THIS COMPANY DOING WHAT THEY DO TO ANYONE WHO GETS A FAULTY PRODUCT. The reviews on the other review site are currently at 29% NEGATIVE. With more cases since my experience.

I contacted customer service with a few questions during setup. They were patient and explained everything clearly, including the SIM requirements. The alarm sends alerts quickly and works as expected. Good experience overall.

I highly recommend Personal Alarms Australia for anyone looking for a personal alarm. I recently purchased the personal alarm for my elderly father who has dementia and is falling over more frequently. This product has given us so much more peace of mind knowing that we are in constant contact with him should he need us whether in an emergency or just to stay in contact.
So easy to set up. We are notified immediately with a text to all notified numbers programmed then a call in sequence and a google map of his precise location when activated. Love that we can speak directly through the device to each other. Even recieve a text if the device is low on battery and needs recharging. I cannot recommend this product or company highly enough.

Purchased a simple mobile for my elderly Nan. Very easy to use, basically no set up required. Rings very loud and the charging dock is great.
Screen size and buttons are fabulous.
