I would strongly recommend doing your homework before booking with Optimum Van Lines. I am sharing this because the pattern of complaints I found raises serious concerns about pricing, delivery, communication and the role of third-party carriers.

Optimum Van Lines is registered with FMCSA as a household-goods BROKER, not the company that physically transports the shipment. That distinction matters. FMCSA specifically says a broker arranges the move with an actual carrier and requires brokers to disclose that status, provide the carriers they use, and use properly registered movers.

The biggest warning sign for me is the repeated pattern in customer complaints. Recent Trustpilot reviews describe prices increasing substantially from the original quote, delivery delays, third-party movers, difficulty reaching representatives, missed pickup dates, disputed deposits, damaged or missing belongings, and situations where customers say the information they received from the broker did not match what happened when the actual movers arrived.

One recent reviewer said the expected price increased from $1,390 to $2,600 and reported a missing box and damaged furniture. Another reported that their belongings were still waiting to be delivered. Another said a move that was only about six hours away took two weeks after a third-party mover became involved. These are individual customer allegations, but the fact that similar issues appear across multiple reviews is something I would not ignore.

The BBB record adds another reason for caution. BBB currently lists Optimum Van Lines LLC with an F rating, four complaints in the relevant period, and no BBB accreditation. One published complaint alleges that a $6,300 quote ultimately became an $11,500 demand, including disputed additional charges and a $2,700 deposit. Again, that is the customer's account, not a court finding, but it is serious enough that prospective customers should investigate before paying anything.

There is also a major distinction between a broker's quote and the actual mover's written estimate. FMCSA says a broker's estimate may not necessarily be accepted by the carrier unless the applicable requirements are met, and consumers should obtain the actual mover's written estimate. FMCSA also says that under a non-binding estimate, the mover generally cannot require more than 110% of the estimate at delivery, subject to the applicable rules.

My advice is simple: don't rely only on a salesperson's phone quote. Get the complete inventory and every charge in writing. Ask exactly which company will physically pick up and transport your belongings. Verify that carrier independently through FMCSA. Confirm the deposit, cancellation and refund terms before paying. Make sure the pickup and delivery terms are written into your documents.

I'm not saying every Optimum customer will have a bad experience. There are clearly positive reviews as well. I'm saying that the negative reports are specific enough and similar enough that I would personally treat this company with caution and perform independent verification before handing over a deposit.

For anyone considering them, read the contract carefully and verify the actual carrier—not just the broker you spoke with on the phone. A low initial quote is not a bargain if the price, carrier or delivery terms change later.

I'd give no stars if Google allowed. I don't know if Anthony May or Thomas or Scott or any of the guys I spoke with are legit - they each lied - apparently telling me what I wanted to hear - everything changed from what I was told during initial call and what was written on bill of lading (and differed from what the actual movers had on their bill of lading) including: pricing, timeline and the fact that my life (aka all of my possessions) would be loaded onto a truck then sent to warehouse until there was enough on the truck to drive the distance to my new home---this was After Thomas told me I owed an additional $360 for the additional items and space needed on the truck. These guys are liars. Plain and simple. I am currently still awaiting my possessions.

I paid my deposit for my items to be picked up on June 29th or June 30th. My items were never picked up. I was not called to be informed that my items were not going to be picked up, I had to reach out to them. The only communications I received from Optimum Van Lines LLC was that a manger would contact me in the morning. I have requested a full refund but have been ignored. I couldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy quite honestly. I believe this business is a scam. They pretend to care about their customers but once they receive your deposit, they ghost you.

First and foremost is the spike in prices from the first quote to the final payment amount. Second is the delivery date which they came a day later than the promised date. The owner also doesn't return calls, text or emails. Third, they hired a third party mover who took two weeks for them to move our furniture only six hours away. The invoice was not even in the proper name and they waited the day of to tell the furniture was on the move. Fourth, they sent a truck with two movers who came late in the night and were also told they did not have orders to assemble the furniture.

Scott and his team were so professional and helpful. Making our relocation to Georgia a possibility. And a dream come true. We will use your company. If hevan forbid we move again.

Optimum Van Lines made my relocation simple and stress-free. Their team stayed organized, communicated clearly, and ensured every step was handled professionally. My belongings arrived safely and on time without any issues.

My experience with Optimum Van Lines has been smooth and reliable from the start to the end of the move. They provided a quote that is easy to understand, good communication throughout the process, and the moving crew arrived on time. Everything went well with the move.

…. In response to this negative (originally 1 star) review, Optimum did reach out to fully hear my case and did what they could as far as a partial refund of my deposit. More importantly they investigated the claims of the third party carrier and acknowledged the bad practice of ABC Moving and copied me on a formal termination of their contract with that third party carrier. I feel heard and Optimum itself did what they could and gave me resources to do any further follow up I might want to pursue against that carrier. Customer service after the fact indeed improved my opinion of Optimum.

Original Review: communication to over a week delay in delivery, they were just awful. Do not depend on their estimate - the individual driving companies they hire can charge whatever they want above that and Optimum did nothing to review the charges or argue on my behalf that the charges were in excess. They also did nothing to compensate for the dragged out delay of getting my things and many times told me it was because they could not get a hold of the carrier (so they had no clue where my belongings were). Do yourself a favor and skip this company. Total scam!

What stood out most to me was how straightforward everything was. Optimum Van Lines provided a fair quote with no hidden fees, and they kept me updated throughout the process. The movers arrived on time, packed everything securely, and delivered as promised. It felt organized and stress-free from beginning to end.

They are cheaters. They are middle man and initially they will ask very very less price to attract you and give you good discounts. Never fall in the trap. They will ask advance of $360 which is completely their money and the quote they provide as per your moving item is completely fake. Actual charge will be decided on the last moment and final day of moving. When the truck driver will come he will tell you double the price what was discussed even though you have less item what ever discussed. He will start to negotiate. The worst part is you have paid $370 dollar just to get the truck driver details. The actual price decider is the person who comes with truck. If you call this company they will simply say the price is as per the moving items and if you ask them what about my quote and all my items are within the quote then they will say that was approximate. Even the person will be there they will say no is mot in office today. Just imagine the way these people are cheating. The truck driver will start convincing you that you paid $360 to get my number which is a good price. In my case my total prices was decided $1390 but I paid $2600 with missing of one box which was worth of $250 and broken furniture. All these happened due to last moment negotiation with the driver. This what is their business model they will talk very nicely till last 1hr of your move the real game starts when the driver will come. They new in last moment customer wont have options they have give money whatever is asked. This is the business model what they follows. I had very very bad experience. The person who I negotiated with he picked my call when I mention that truck driver is asking kore money he disconnected the call and next time he wont pick your call and the other person from the same company will he is not in office today. Just imagine if you have lease and you are moving on the last day and someone will asked you double the price then what are the options left. Be cautious before taking their service.

Everything Arrived Intact I have a lot of glass and electronics, so safety was my top priority. The team Optimum coordinated with was careful and respectful of my property. Not a single item was scratched or broken during the long haul.

Honest Pricing, No Surprises The most refreshing part of working with Optimum Van Lines was their honesty. The quote I was given at the start was exactly what I paid at the end. Their transparency regarding fees and timelines made me feel secure throughout the entire move.

Optimum Van Lines runs a very organized operation. My move was planned perfectly, with no delays or issues. The movers handled all my belongings with care, and the pricing remained exactly as quoted.

I was nervous about relocating, but Optimum Van Lines handled everything perfectly. Their quote was accurate, their service was friendly, and my items arrived in perfect condition. Truly a company you can trust.

DO NOT use Optimum Van lines for moving(especially) state to state moving, I had a horrible experience (especially as a senior citizen) before I signed the contract Thomas Anderson was pleasant, returned your calls& very attentive to moving needs & concerns. I signed the contract paid the deposit on October 20th given a written contract agreement of which I signed advised to send pictures of all of my items that were to be used of which I did several times twice to Thomas & twice to other individuals employed with optimum price agreed contract signed. Needless to say the date to pickup delivery November 29th price exploded as well as given to another moving (Ocean moving )charge their own price that had to be paid before pickup. I had to borrow additional money to have the truck loaded due to my last day allowable to stay in my apartment. Well I proceeded to my destination of which was 600 miles by car hoping the truck would deliver upon my arrival. Truck never left pick up state I had to rent a hotel for two days in freezing rain no changeable clothes, caught the flu had to call my doctor immediately for medication. In the midst of this horror I repeatley call Thomas Anderson as well as numerous texts & emails he Never respond once sent a quick text saying "working on it'of which he wasnt. Literally did have additional money for hotel so I had to stay with my father 80 miles away from destination. Hungry cold senior citizens left to the mercy of Ocean moving again they were contracted by optimum. To shorten this review my original contract price climbed 200 percent on total cost which destroyed my savings account. Again optimum contracted with me & brokered with Ocean moving. This was one of the worst experiences of my life emotional distress as well as monetary depletion of my menial savings account as a senior citizen living on social security. Thomas Anderson hands down has been the worse person in my life to communicate with he acted like we did not exist which is to say the least senior abuse. Do not use Optimum moving company especially state to state. Ocean moving (the brokered company) was not much better. Barbie at Ocean was the only person to seem even to care. Did I say HORRIBLE? Yes I said Horrible,this journey could have been a horrific movie story maybe I'll see if it news worthy especially absolutely senior mental abuse 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢not false claims picture were sent several times optimum reviewed pictures of all items before pick up. The company hires horrible packers and movers. Late, understaffed and careless. Third party brokered company that shows up are inexperienced and careless. They literally hire help off the street or even worse like the parolee that had to leave early because of his parole requirements that that they brought to my house. Sent a semi and trailer after being repeatedly told it would not fit. Demanded more money after claiming we had been underquoted by Optimum. Optimum was little to no help once they had been payed. Once they receive payment you are totally at their mercy. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Optimum Van Lines exceeded my expectations. Their staff was friendly, patient, and made sure I understood every detail of the process. The movers they partnered with were fast, careful, and professional. Everything arrived exactly as promised—on time and damage-free.

Optimun Van Lines is not a moving company, they just collect fees to send you Santana Moving who are just as bad. Do not go with these people. They will hire a moving company and both will charge you a lot of money. My stuff was broken and ruined and nobody is resposnsible for it. They are a big scam. They appear to be nice until they collect your money.
