Sasha is an amazing lady, she has guided me through the dark period since my unsuccessful operation carried out by Jan Venter at the Bristol Clinic with optical express .As with all the other posts I have read on her site we all have identical problems after the operation. Great site to share your experiences and seek advice. Only wish I had found it before letting Dr Alex George at the Bristol clinic remove my perfectly healthy lens, and replace with inferior multifocal ones. Since having the procedure I have been left short sighted with blurred vision, poor vision in low light, and unable to drive my car at night because of the really bad glare and halos, and I am unable to see the lines in the road. Once they had my money, they didn’t want to know. Unfortunately this seems to be a reoccurring theme for thousands of patients, but it is kept quiet!

I came upon this site after I’d had Lasik surgery with Optimax (aka Ultralase) in 2016. I was desperately worried and in terrible pain after Lasik surgery. I didn’t know where to turn as Optimax/Ultralase were not helping me. You can’t phone or email their head office as they hide this information and force you to write letters for which you rarely receive a reply. My eyes have been ruined and my sight is worse than before I had it done. Sasha Rodoy works tirelessly to help injured patients and is a campaigner for the regulation of this terrible industry. She has helped me a great deal.

The OREML web site is a mine of useful information with lots of people sharing their experiences with their procedures and is a source of comfort.

I'd wanted laser treatment for a while, had a consultation on 4th Dec with OE.
They quoted me £5700, which was too much. They called almost daily since but I ignored the calls until 28th Dec when they offered 24 months interest free and reduced price of £3995.
I was about to pay my £400 deposit when I found your website, after spending the several hours researching your work -i'm so grateful to you! I had no idea!!

My mum had also planned to have lens replacement treatment with Optical express within the next few weeks, at a cost of £6,600. Thankfully she has now also decided to cancel due your work. Although she had paid a deposit, she's requested a refund- i'll keep you updated with how this goes.

I had corrective eye surgery and suffered a detached retina. They were incredibly helpful up to this point but the moment my issues started, they dropped me like a hot potato. Sasha has done more (and shown more compassion and understanding) in 3 months than what they eye clinic Advanced Vision Care, 77 Harley St, London, W1 have done or shown in 3 years. To compound matters, when I rated Advanced Vision Care on their website - poor review, it mysteriously vanished.

Amazing work, amazing lady.

I was at an all time low after my eye procedure and treatment by OE. In desperation I started to research OE (something I should have done before being coerced into having the procedure and a decision I will regret for the rest of my life). I came across this website and was shocked to hear of how many people have been affected by OE and undergone unnecessary eye procedures leaving a life time of misery for so many individuals. The site has helped me enormously to support me through this awful life changing procedure.

Good advice regarding my refund issue with Optical Express - got my money back at long last!!

I have already posted on the OE Trustpilot about the nightmare I have had getting my refund. I spotted Sasha's email on the OERML website and In between emailing and Sasha calling me back OE have finally phoned to process my refund!. It has taken numerous calls to the so called Customer Service department who must be very thick skinned or need counselling to deal with the few customers who manage to get through the call centre. I don't lose my temper often but their lack of empathy has made me furious.
While this has been going on I have sent reports in to BBC Watchdog and the Citizens Advice reporting line within Trading Standards. I will also write to my MP (though he is about as useful as a chocolate teapot!) I hope that anything we can do to put this company in the spotlight can only help and avoid more people being sucked in to their clutches.

I had lens replacement surgery in January 2016 at the Bristol clinic under the surgeon Alex George. I then entered the most horrifying year of my life!!!! It is like living a horror film. I have double vision, blurriness, dizziness, tremendous eye aches which develop in to pounding headaches. I now suffer palpitations and anxiety attacks and suffer from sleep deprivation as obtaining a good and full night's sleep is practically impossible. Basic family duties and events such as driving at night or visiting shops with bright lights have become almost impossible. It is just too difficult and painful for me - as well as dangerous!! I no longer ride my motorbike or take my son out on bicycle rides. I sometimes feel that I am on a different planet as now there are three moons in the sky at night!! These problems began almost immediately after the lens replacement surgery but Optical Express kept dismissing me and telling me that things would suddenly fall into place in six months time. This never happened and they insisted I underwent Yag Laser treatment.

Since then, the problems spiralled out of control and became tenfold. Alex George told me to ask my GP to fast track an appointment for me with a neurologist. Before this I had already been to the GP twice before when she ran tests (bloods etc) and said my general health was good. At my third visit after seeing Alex George my GP told me that there was no reason to refer me to a neurosurgeon as any problems I was then suffering started after my surgery with Optical Express and it should be them addressing the problems. She said ‘who the hell do they think they are?’ and told me to go back to OE and tell them this.

Now, Optical Express try to avoid my calls and do not answer emails. When I call to the shop in Queen Street, Cardiff, the staff always say there is no-one available to see me. Nobody at Optical Express is really interested in the fact that they have ruined my life!!!

I recently posted on Trustpilot and other Optical Express review sites and was immediately called by Allan Mcewan at the Head Office. He said they’d arrange for me to see Dimitri Kazakos, who he told me he is the most senior surgeon OE have and if anyone can solve the problem he can. But he also said his bedside manner is not the best! Then I was called by Colin Berry who gave me an appointment to see Dimitris Kazakos at Westfield in White City on the 24 January.

I am a Craftsman (carpenter) and I use CNC routers run by computers as well as traditional carpentry work. I produce one off bespoke pieces and have even been commissioned to produce the Urdd Eisteddfod Chair of the Bard in 2015. I can no longer see well enough to produce such pieces and Optical Express have taken away my ability to work and support my family. THEY HAVE RUINED MY LIFE.

They don't care about people at all they just want to take as much money from you as they can and leave you in pieces and in despair. I intend to start legal proceedings in the hope that something can be salvaged.

Do not trust these people - they are criminals - nothing more!

E-mailed Sasha and got a near instant response. Had a very informative telephone conversation with Sasha regarding OE's treatment of my wife. Thank goodness there is a site to share our woes. Well done Sasha! Shame OE can't give such good service.

Thanking my lucky stars I found this website and the extremely helpful forums. I thankfully did not get as far as surgery with this company. However, found myself in the same position as thousands of others across the country with regard to refund of my deposit, or rather lack of and delaying tactics!
With fantastic advice from Sasha and persistence it paid off and I had my deposit refunded. Don't give up! Be as pushy and deceitful in your attempts to get your deposit back as they are in their attempts to get you to sign up for surgery!! PLEASE have a look at this website if you are even remotely considering laser eye surgery. It is, if you'll pardon the pun a MASSIVE EYE OPENER.

Thank goodness for Opticalexpressruinedmylife.co.uk as until I found this site I thought that we were alone with this dodgy practise company. Thought we had a lifetime guarantee but were told my wife will have to pay for eyetests and eyedrops and that the terms and conditions state one year not as we were told when signing up for and parting with over £3500.00 for laser treatment. Think they miss sold to thousands of people regarding this and it's great that we have a champion Sasha Rodoy to lead the fight against this poor company. Reckon we should start a Class Action!!

Having had experiences myself with laser eye surgery and digging into it deeper its incredible how some of these companies operate and gamble with something so precious as a persons eyesight, i went to one place that had fake addresses on their site to make it look like they were more reputable, they provided me with the wrong prescription, lied to me about what equipment they had, provided me with a review system that didn't exist etc etc and these people are playing around with peoples eyes and if it wasn't for Sasha and OERML then i'd have more than likely gone ahead for a top up procedure with these clowns and god knows what may have happened so for that I'm so thankful. What Sasha stands for in trying to regulate this industry is so important and incredibly much needed because as it stands you really can't trust anyone as its just a money driven industry, she provided me with some great information and really helped me, 5 stars all the way from me and i truly hope OERML achieves its targets of regulating this industry.

Four years ago I had Laser eye surgery with Optical Express, have since had corrective surgery three times on one eye and twice on my other eye but still four years on I do not have good vision. Found OERML website and Sasha's knowledge and encouragement has shown me the light and the way forward.
Sasha has been so helpful in everyway in showing me that these companies should be held accountable for their actions
