Absolute scam … claim to work for your supplier to get a better deal. Misleading you into believing your are talking to somebody legitimate. They Want you to sign forms to work on your behalf… avoid at all costs.
When you challenge Alex he gets offensive and puts the phone down on you.
Do not trust and always check your documents and contact your suppliers directly before escalating things further with these awful people.
I am updating my review as my complaint with On Utility remains unresolved.
On Utility acted as the broker that placed my business into an energy contract with Yorkshire Gas and Power. After reviewing the call recordings provided during the complaint process, I formally disputed how this contract was obtained.
The recordings show that the sales agent’s first words to my receptionist were:
“This is Alex from British Gas Lite.”
The call was transferred to me on that basis. I therefore began the conversation believing I was speaking to someone connected to my existing energy supplier.
During the conversation the agent also referenced British Gas Lite and changes to rates, while simultaneously quoting prices for Yorkshire Gas and Power. This created obvious confusion about who the caller represented.
Despite this, On Utility have concluded that the contract was obtained correctly.
Their position is essentially that because the company names were mentioned later in the conversation, the contract is valid. However, this completely ignores the fact that the call began by presenting the agent as being from British Gas Lite, which is what led to the conversation taking place in the first place.
The recordings also show the pressure placed on both myself and my wife to complete the agreement quickly while I was with a customer, which is when I authorised her to speak on my behalf.
Rather than acknowledging the confusion created by the way the call was introduced, On Utility have simply relied on the existence of a signed contract.
As a small business owner, this experience has been extremely stressful and has caused significant anxiety. I believe the sales process was misleading and not conducted in a transparent manner.
As On Utility have now confirmed their position, I will be escalating this matter for independent review through the Energy Ombudsman.
I’m updating my previous review of ON Utility as the matter has now been resolved.
After several cold calls (with no messages left), I made contact and was incorrectly informed about my current energy contract and prices. I was pressured into signing a DocuSign agreement so they could “look into this” for me. I even asked if it was a scam and was reassured it wasn’t.
After doing my own checks, I discovered my existing contract was actually valid for another 15 months. I immediately sent a letter to revoke this to ON Utility and contacted EDF Energy, who were extremely helpful and reassuring.
This situation was very stressful as a small business owner and highlights how important it is not to rush into signing anything under pressure. Always take time to verify independently.
Yesterday I was contacted by the Compliance Officer, Mandy, who was professional, apologetic and acknowledged I had been misled. She confirmed the agreement would be revoked and explained there had been training issues.
While the initial experience caused considerable distress, I appreciate the way it has now been handled and hope lessons are learned going forward.

I am being rung every single day by these people. I have no account with them and every day they leave a voicemail for me to delete. I have left a complaint weeks ago with no response - I really don't know what they're trying to achieve. Please leave me alone
Was abit wary when I received the call, as have had negative experiences ith brokers in the past, however Alex made the process very simple and managed to actually beat the rate from my current supplier, would definitely recommend!
I’m a microbusiness and was cold-called by On Utility about a three-year energy contract with Yorkshire Gas & Power. I believed I was speaking with a broker I knew (Bionic) and was busy with clients at the time, so my wife signed on my behalf.
The broker focused on the unit price and made it seem the deal would save money, while downplaying the standing charge, which actually makes the contract significantly more expensive than my current supplier. I only realised the contract had been signed when I answered a confirmation call previous attempts to contact me were ignored because I assumed they were cold calls.
This experience has been stressful and confusing. I want to warn other small businesses: read all terms carefully, confirm the broker and supplier, and never feel pressured to sign immediately.
I will be taking this further to ensure this matter is properly addressed.

Alex is a scammer. Lying about the current contract to make you sign up to goodness knows what. Usual time pressure technique to make you sign quickly.
Similar experience to other comments. Dishonest. Alex uses lies and harassment. Don't entertain these charlatans.
Very dishonest sales techniques - just lying through the whole call. They hung up when I asked them to confirm the details by email while I was on the phone.
exactly the same experience as the previous review. I was given prices which were completly wrong and over inflated. I was told I wouldnt have been given prices which I deffinately was by Nicky. I was told by Alex prices rise daily and I should sign the document to allow them to act on my behalf. I am lucky I realised before I did!
Alex telephoned me to arrange my new bill and promised all types of wonderful prices which he said were so much cheaper than what I’m paying now. He went through all my prices and told me I should take this new offer right away as prices rise daily. It turns out Alex was lying through his teeth and my current figures were less than half what he told me and my contract wasn’t about to expire in a few days but has almost two years left. When I mentioned that I’d caught him in his lie he hung up. Goodbye Alex. I hope others don’t rush into anything and check the figures this company tells them over the phone against their actual figures and see what a scam this approach is.
