Use any other company but Charter!
Before my trouble started with SPECTRUM aka CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS - I was a customer for almost 20 yrs. I liked the service very much before Spectrum was purchased by Charter Communications who ruined this company with terrible customer service. They handled my business & personal accounts.
Subsequently, I canceled and one year later, they started hounding me for an extra $100. To get them out of my hair, I paid them via phone. Two years later, they said I owed it again & turned me over to a collections agency. I called this agency & said to please provide me with an invoice for this $100 that keeps cropping up on my canceled account. They couldn’t provide this invoice or any information. Since I had paid this $100 - I didn’t want to pay it only for them to try to collect this again in another year or so.
If you can’t handle a company buyout & keep your books in order, maybe you are in the wrong business.
I tell every single person I encounter my story. Because it’s just extortion at this point. They try this on the elderly but I’m not that old yet.
I will be gathering other people who’ve had a similar experience & get a layer to class action Carter because charging someone money without an invoice or proof is against consumer protection laws.
