I signed up for a free trial, but it wasn’t made clear that it would automatically convert into a paid subscription. I received no notification, message, email, or receipt about the charge, yet £36 was taken from my account without my explicit consent. This kind of auto-renewal practice is misleading and deceptive, and it’s frustrating that companies are allowed to operate this way.

Liebe die App. Habe sie viel genutzt. Jetzt bin ich in Elternzeit und habe vergessen zu kündigen. Abo wurde problemlos widerrufen und Geld sofort zurück erstattet. Lieben wir 🫶

Couple of times the app worked out well. But equally there are places on there that you can't even use.

Witzig, aber eigentlich traurig dass viele auch Kontakt mit dieser tollen Jana hatten.
Mir wurden 47,88€ abgebucht. Ich war felsenfest der Meinung, dass ich das Abo schon ewig zuvor gekündigt habe. Als mir das Geld abgebucht wurde, hab ich mir die App runter geladen um dort den Support zu erreichen - nur blöd dass ich meine Handynummer gewechselt habe und man sich ausschließlich mit dieser + Zertifizierung anmelden konnte. Dann nahm das Drama seinen Lauf. Ich hab versucht den Support irgendwie zu erreichen, bei der Email welche bei Paypal hinterlegt war, war eine Zustellung der Mail nicht möglich. Nun ein anderer Weg - dann meldete sich die Jana bei mir.
Ich hab ihr die Sache erklärt, sie wollte eine Bestätigungsmail. Wie ich sehe, hat keiner jemals eine Mail erhalten wo die Kündigung bestätigt wird. Auf Nachfrage weshalb ich keine Info bekomme dass mein Abo verlängert wird war die Antwort dass man ja eine Push Benachrichtigung bekommt in der App. Nur witzig dass ich diese ja gar nicht erhalten kann wenn ich keinen Zugriff auf das Konto hatte.
Nach Ewiger Diskussion und überhaupt kein entgegen kommen habe ich gebeten mir sofort diese Bestätigungsmail bzgl. der Kündigung zukommen zu lassen - ich warte immer noch auf diese Mail!

Sehr schlechte Erfahrung mit NeoTaste. Durch einen technischen Fehler am Handy habe ich versehentlich etwas gebucht und direkt den Kundenservice kontaktiert. Statt Verständnis oder Hilfe kam nur eine allgemeine Standardantwort ohne wirklich auf mein Problem einzugehen.

Früher hieß es: Der Kunde ist König. Heute wird man behandelt, als wäre man völlig egal, fast schon wie Dreck. Keine Kulanz, keine echte Unterstützung, keine individuelle Lösung.

So ein Umgang mit Kunden ist einfach enttäuschend und absolut nicht empfehlenswert.

Habe dem Kudenservice auch mehrmals geschrieben höflich gefragt ob man irgendwie eine Lösung finden kann, stattdessen irgendwelche KI antworten und mir frecherweise die Schuld reingeschieben. Wir sind Menschen und machen Fehler, mein Fehler wir bereits genannt versehentlich gebucht obwohl ich kein NeoTaste haben möchte.

I subscribed to NeoTaste in April 2025 after a free trial. I used it occasionally until around August 2025 and stopped. On 14 April 2026, my Amex was charged £35.88 for a second year with no advance email, no in-app notification, and no reminder of any kind.

I contacted support immediately. The agent (Jana) refused a refund, citing automatic renewal under the Terms and Conditions. When I pushed back, she then switched to arguing that my "trial period" had converted to a paid subscription which makes no sense, as this was the second annual renewal, not a trial conversion. She appeared to be copying from a template without reading my case.

Three issues worth flagging for anyone considering NeoTaste:

1. No renewal reminder. NeoTaste's own Terms and Conditions contain no obligation to notify you before an annual renewal. Their Trustpilot responses mention push notifications before trials end but they say nothing about annual renewal reminders. If you forget, you pay.

2. Inconsistent refund policy. Other reviewers here describe being refunded by the same agent (Jana) in identical circumstances forgot to cancel, charged at renewal, refunded on request. I was refused. The stated reason ("fairness to the community") doesn't hold up when the policy is applied selectively.

3. The subscription is not managed through Apple or Google Play subscriptions, making it less visible in your normal subscription management and easier to miss.

I have sent NeoTaste a formal Letter Before Action citing the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, and the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024. I have also reported this practice to the Competition and Markets Authority as evidence of a subscription-trap pattern.

If you are in a similar position: under UK law, a silent annual auto-renewal without prior notice is a potentially unfair commercial practice. You are not obliged to accept a blanket "no refunds" response.

Ich bin wirklich begeistert von NeoTaste! Besonders gefällt mir, dass man viele coole Deals bekommt und dabei immer wieder neue Spots ausprobieren kann, die man sonst vielleicht gar nicht gefunden hätte und dabei echt viel Geld spart. Auch der Kundenservice ist top: immer freundlich, sehr tolerant und unglaublich hilfsbereit. Egal bei welchem Anliegen, man bekommt schnell Unterstützung. Besonders Jana hat mir super schnell und unkompliziert weitergeholfen. Insgesamt kann ich NeoTaste absolut weiterempfehlen!

Trial period- Awful experience. Like many other people writing reviews, their trial period is a trap. I did not receive any notifications reminding me my trial period was ending, nor did it show up on my Apple subscriptions. Despite emailing them personally, I have received no refund despite never using the apps benefits. Personally, I wouldn’t sign up for the free trial as I feel the benefits are not worth it.

Wenn etwas nicht funktioniert, wird einem Pech gesagt stand schon mehrmals in einem Restaurant wo es nicht geklappt hat und ich dann dumm da stand.

Like many other reviewers here, I also fell into this trap.

I signed up for what was presented as a trial period in the app. It was stated that I would receive a reminder a few days before the paid subscription started, but I never received any reminder. Then my card was charged for a full annual subscription.

I contacted support immediately, explained the situation, cancelled the subscription right away, and asked for a refund because I did not intend to continue using the service. The response was a flat refusal. They claimed that the trial period already counted as the start of the contract and that there was no entitlement to a refund.

For me, this is exactly the problem: if you promise users a reminder before charging them and then do not send it, this feels misleading and unfair. A trial should not feel like a trap designed to catch people who miss a hidden deadline.

Maybe their lawyers believe this setup is acceptable. As a customer, I consider it a very poor and dishonest experience. I am leaving this review so that other people are aware of how this subscription works and do not get caught the same way.

They made me annualy charged and then when i asked them to cancel my subscription and refund they say no as i know This is completely unfair and a violation of customer rights.. Many other websites that work good and fairly do this but neotaste doesn’t as it is not good and fair unfortunately and thats why the rate is around 3

scam company. charged me for a whole year without my permission and are refusing same day cancellation.

Neotaste ist eine super Möglichkeit, neue Restaurants zu entdecken. Die App ist übersichtlich gestaltet und sehr einfach zu bedienen. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der Kundenservice, der äußerst zuvorkommend, schnell und kundenorientiert reagiert.
Auch in Heidelberg gibt es bereits eine schöne Auswahl an Restaurants. Ich hoffe, dass das Angebot dort in Zukunft noch weiter wächst.

Customer Service super. App funktioniert wie sie soll. Nie Probleme mit der Bedienung beim Bezahlen gehabt.

Diese Abo-Struktur ist wirklich inakzeptabel.
Das Abonnement wird automatisch verlängert, ohne dass eine klare oder rechtzeitige Benachrichtigung erfolgt.
Besonders problematisch ist, dass die Verlängerung direkt in ein Jahresabo erfolgt, ohne dass man dem ausdrücklich zustimmt. Das wirkt sehr intransparent und unfair gegenüber den Nutzer:innen.
Ich kann diesen Service unter solchen Bedingungen leider nicht weiterempfehlen.

Leider hat sich mein Abo automatisch verlängert obwohl ich es in der App gekündigt hatte. Das habe ich jetzt beim Support gemeldet in der Hoffnung auf Rückzahlung.

Ansonsten ist die Idee sehr gut, nur leider an meinem Wohnort kein einziges NeoTaste Restaurant seit meinem Umzug. Und auch in der Umgebung sind Restaurants weg gefallen statt neue hinzu gekommen, sodass ich letztes Jahr weniger Geld gespart habe als fürs Abo gezahlt..

Avoid them and go elsewhere, they reply on here to negative comments but do nothing behind the scenes, you get no reply from them over email and they'll continue to take your money.
Not all restaurants listed on the app will actually accept the offer so you'll pay full. Very poor app and experience, completely useless
