At the beginning I got a 90% on the test, systems check and I was congratulated for having gotten the job. I later found out I had a Demo Lesson awaiting me, I waited an hour and a couple of minutes before I gave up only to try again the following 2 days. On the 2nd day I waited 40 min then logged off. The 3rd day I was about to give up for good this time when after 55 min I got through only to be told I wasn't ready. I can't recall the given reason behind this. Needless to say, the whole thing lasted less than 2 minutes. Reading all these negative reviews made me want to share my experience about the company that supposedly pays $2 000 a month if not more.

Absolutely a waste of time, I did all the stuff and was accepted, I wanted to go into my account to setup my calendar and start teaching but it stayed on the application site, I mailed them, first they said it was technical issues mailed again after getting no feedback now I have to submit my passport all of a sudden it's a requirement but nowhere in the contract, online website or adverts does it say anything about a passport. The lady that applied with me has already starting teaching WITHOUT a passport and I am still struggling. The only email I get back is the one saying that a passport is compulsory. Terrible service!!!!

Native Camp is an absolute waste of time, their pay is also disgustingly low, good luck getting more than $8.80 an hour.

Do not work for this company, they exploit teachers for very very low wages, teachers are treated badly and you have to follow really stupid and strict rules that they seem to change all the time, and they can de-activate your account at any time for really really stupid and insane reasons. Not to mention you can end up waiting all day and never have anyone call, meaning you can waste your time for low compensation. Even if you are an extremely hard worker and good teacher, if somebody feels like not giving you 5 stars or gives you less than 5 stars your reputation on the site is damaged so badly and less people take your lesson. Don't work for Japanese companies, they do not take care of their staff and do not pay enough.

Please do not waste your time at this company, they don't deserve their teachers and I hope they get what's coming to them soon. Pay is disgusting. don't get exploited by this company.

I found Nativecamp on Seek.com which is a legitimate job search site.

Signed up thinking that they are a legitimate tutoring website.
In reality, all they are doing is data harvesting your personal information & further spamming your email in more attempts to steal your personal information & identity.

There isn’t an option to unsubscribe to their emails, nor there is an option to delete your information or account off their NativeCamp website.

Their customer service is nonexistent & when you do get responses, it’s generic, robotic & unhelpful responses.
Whilst they keep saying I no longer have an account upon my request of my account deletion, I’m still able to log in & see all of my details, without the ability to edit or delete my information on my end.

This complaint is from Australia & we will be looking into what rights we have & will be reporting them to the scam authorities here.

My only advice is STAY AWAY from them if you value your information, time & effort.
They are NOT a legitimate tutoring website.

You will never get any contact from a human, only an auto reply, first of all you think its from a real person, as I had not got anywhere still, I tried to go through issues time again, so I contacted customer service again, woo I get exactly the same response, and of 0 help' THE MAIN ISSUE IS...
DOING YOUR SPEED TEST' you will have to queue for at least 45 minutes minaman only if your lucky, the counter will go up and down, then BINGO FREEZES!
No chance to proceed any further, tried 4 times' they have got my data, and all the goodies' what are they going to do with it? Cause a crime in my name...?

I think that Native camp crime busters should be stepped up on the double!

Please beware!! this site is advertised everywhere, looks great, sounds great' but its not...Please be careful here' best to try other sites to enrol, sadly...this company is advertised on TEFL and many teachers organisations, based in Japan, please read other peoples reviews, they are frightening.

After a year and few months all I can say is for the beginners it's ok to gain some knowledge but other than that it's a waste of time. Everything revolves around the rating you have, and after a while it will be totally destroyed by students that on purpose give bad grades, because it's your fault that they don't know English. And what's worst the whole Native Camp staff is behind them and they're allowing such a behavior and they gave them all the rights to do basically whatever they want. Like telling lies that you're not trying, you're not motivated and based on just one complaint from a student they will deactivate your account. It doesn't matter that you have hundreds of classes from other students praising you, just one complaint and your account is gone. And the staff is non existant. Whatever help you think you'll get from them forget about it. Any kind of suggestion, not interested. Their answers are generic, makes me think if they even know English. Probably not, just using chatgpt. And on top of all if your not native, you practically work for misery. I mean 3 $ per hour, garbagemen are valued and paid more. All in all my advice is to stay away and go for other schools that at least pay 5 $ per hour, because here they're basically treating you as a slave.

Did the Demo Lesson on 09/01/2024 and was successful and was proceeded to the next step. I logged out. Next morning i log in to complete the sign up it is back on the demo lesson and now they want me to retry it again sent over 50 messages but the staff cannot read English. Their system done this now i must do a Demo lesson again, clever way of getting free lessons for students by doing this or failing future Tutors over and over again.

Within an hour of taking the demo class with an examiner, I decided that this company was not suited to me. NativeCamp gave me a chance to retake the demo class, citing reasons for failure in the previous demo: I did not smile or enlarge on grammatical corrections. The fact that I achieved 100% in its English test at the beginning seemed less important to it than my performance in the demo class. I do not think that I will retake it again.

When reading some of the negative comments on this platform it seems like I dodged a bullet and my rejection makes more sense now. I have written the following email to them explaining my experience:

Good day,
You have given me 3 attempts at the demo lesson. First Demo Feedback to me:
* Do a meet and greet - introduction
* Do an audio and video check
* Type your first name and ask the student to type their name
* Ask the student if they are comfortable with the speaking speed
* Confirm the chosen textbook
* Look into the camera This first demo lesson feedback was procedural feedback and the training videos provided do not cover this. After this feedback and 2-3 minutes into the lesson, the demo was stopped.

The second demo feedback:
* Time is limited
* Type the sentence even if it is wrong
* Then type the correct sentence
* Explain why the sentence is wrong Again, this is procedural feedback which is not covered in your training videos.

The third demo feedback: After doing everything learned from the feedback obtained in demos 1 and 2, I received the following feedback:
* I need to type that "opinion" is singular and "opinions" is plural
* That I needed to correct the term
"Me and my brother..." to "My brother and I ..."

It is unfortunate that your training videos and instructions do not cover procedural items and that I was unduly penalized with the limited 3 demo lessons. I am disappointed that I now need to wait another 6 months. This demo lesson process seems unfair and rushed and creates a perception that you are looking for reasons to not approve new teachers.

Avoid at all costs, luckily, despite being a native speaker I recieved the same copy & paste rejection email as some others did in this review section, but even the application process was a poop show. Waited in the systems check line for hours only for it to disconnect twice when it was my turn and then they bypassed the stage anyway! They bypassed other steps of the process like the demo lesson after learning I was a native speaker with a TEFL certificate, but then were immediately ready to reject me as soon as I sent in my video and profile picture. I've heard this is a racist company which unfortunately is not uncommon in Japan, whether it be against people of color or other non-Japanese Asians. A company like this has no place in the online education space and I hope it shuts down soon and stops people from wasting their time.

I registered as a teacher and was accepted.

However I did not start working immediately, and now that I am ready...
When i login I can do nothing in my account. They use very silly bots to act as "Customer Service Help", and after 3 days have not responded to a message I managed to send them in their messaging system.

Not impressed.

With their incredibly strict rules, I had to try think if I was interested in working with them.

Decided no, but you cannot delete your account.

Also cannot unsubscribe from their regular emails begging me to come back and teach.

I'm writing this as a native TESOL-certified teacher with a degree in English literature. After completing all the steps and demo, I waited for their email to be informed about the final result. They rejected me thus: "Our basis for Native Speakers does not solely rely on one's nationality but also one's ability to provide English education to our students as an English native speaker. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide additional information about the criteria we are using to determine who are native speakers and who are not."
I replied, insisting on a more sensible response, but they told me the same thing.
How could you tell someone is not native enough?? This is just preposterous!
I got a glimpse of their teaching materials and their overalls philosophy: the lessons are literally scripted, leaving no room for teacher creativity. Also, they will always take the students' side. Native teachers should avoid this unprofessional company.

Beware. Native Camp failed to pay me, closed my account, and then claimed they "cannot pay me because I do not have an account!"

I have filed a complaint with the authorities, but I want to warn everyone I can to avoid dealing with this sleazy company. They break US independent contractor laws by apparently using AI that detects if you are smiling enough (and then pushes a pop-up to tell you to smile), tells you to ask the student's permission to have a sip of water, etc. The pay is extremely low, and less than the minimum wage in the area I am from. Native Camp may steal part of your pay, claiming you cancelled a class when you did not. This is not something I agreed to in my contract. When you try to communicate with them, you get the run-around. There is no phone number to call, so your only recourse is to go to the authorities. If you have been mistreated by Native Camp, please file a complaint. This fraudulent activity must be stopped.

I passed all their English tests. However, after I sent my intro video, they told me "you're not a native English speaker" despite being born and raised in America, having a neutral accent, and holding a US passport. I also have years of experience teaching English in Asia as a native teacher.

I searched online and found out other Asian-Americans got the exact same racist message from them.

Anyways, the company wanted me to register as a Korean and not as an American (I'm not even Korean by the way). I agreed just to get online teaching experience, but they still never activated the account despite repeated document submissions and email messages to them.

Avoid them unless you want to work for a racist company.

I applied here almost 1month ago. and after I worked less than 10days they deactivated my account for no reason also conducted my payment.
They keep asking for nonsense excuses like passport and ... which I sent them anything they asked but couldn't access to my account and my payment either.

Sadly a real disappointment. I wanted to apply as an English teacher. I was taking the 40-question quiz, but on the second, third, and fourth pages, there were nonsense questions and options. I also found the questions repetitive. In short, a mess. Very unprofessional platform. I who have been teaching English online and offline since 2004 have never seen anything like it. And when I completed that crazy and all messed up test, he gave me 60%. Consequently, the minimum percentage to be reached had to be 80%. It was really a test with repetitive questions and options that had nothing to do with the question. Then I found the same question with other options on the third or fourth page. Absurd.

One star is too little.

I started an application like many will have said and I did not like their questions so I decided not to go further. However, I was spammed by them to this day. You cannot delete their "account" nor unsubscribe and even if you ask them not to email them the answer comes back in muddled English and no action (ironic considering they are meant to be teaching). Avoid this crowd of scammers at all cost.

Awesome people, I discovered a new culture, very honest, polite, and clever. Though the salary is low I enjoy my lessons. Thank you so much

Normally it ought to be a 0 star review. So this company is very biased and managed by extremely racist people. Imagine how they pay people from different nationalities. You pay $2.2 for an hour lesson. This is utter slavery. Paying someone with a bachelor's degree. Why hire someone in the first place. If you are a student on here please know that some of the teachers on this platform are just slaves. Thanks for reading. I will keep writing this untill the management of native camp get a heart and treat teachers as humans.
