Najma The Maths Tutor Arvostelua 

Najma tutored me all throughout year 13. From receiving a B at the end of year 12 in A-level maths with the guidance of Najma and her revision strategies paired with her teaching I was able to finish with an A in maths, she was a great help. Not only is she a great teacher she is incredibly understanding and a great listener, no matter what level you are or the struggles you had she always had time to help. A true testament of character.

We are extremely pleased with the support our son received from Najma. One of the most valuable aspects of the tutoring was the consistent focus on reviewing topics he initially felt less confident in. This was done effectively through regular practice papers completed under timed conditions, which really helped to simulate the exam environment in the lead up to the exams. Najma then carefully marked the papers and used them to pinpoint the specific areas he needed to focus on, ensuring that each session was targeted and productive.
Over time, we noticed a clear increase in our son’s enjoyment of his maths lessons, alongside a significant boost in his confidence and self-belief as he began to see his grades steadily improving. Najma’s approach made a real difference not just academically, but also in his overall attitude towards the subject.
We also really appreciated Najma’s flexibility, whether it was adjusting lesson times or accommodating postponements when needed — this made things much easier to manage around a busy schedule. She also ran a very helpful Easter revision session.
On the advice of Najma, we set a clear goal of focusing on the foundation paper and he achieved a grade 5 in his GCSE maths in 2025, having achieved a grade 4 in his mock exam. We are delighted that this was achieved, with our son scoring 184 out of 240 marks. We have heard that it is easier to achieve a grade 5 in the higher paper as the grade boundaries are lower, so this is a great achievement.
It’s essential that students pass GCSE Maths and English, as it allows them to progress smoothly to the next stage of their education without the added pressure of resits.

In my work with Najma I found most useful keeping a list of the areas and topics I was less confident in and reviewing them regularly, even once a week, made me much more confident and helped me better remember what I needed for higher GCSE Maths. Najma explains things clearly and is patient too. She also gave me some assignments to do, but not so many that I felt overwhelmed compared to what I already had for school.

Previously, I never thought of myself as mathematical. I was more interested in humanities and the arts. However, Najma made me much more interested in maths, and I felt confident tackling harder problems and combining techniques. In my Year 11 mock, I achieved a 5, which was two grades below my target, but in the summer exams I achieved a 7 (my target).

Najma really helped me to feel competent and to enjoy maths, which I had previously neglected. She’s a kind teacher who is good at communicating with students, explaining concepts, and helping through problems when necessary.
