The platform is user-friendly and relatively easy to navigate. It offers a straightforward interface for preparing returns, and basic workflows are simple to follow. Integration with bank products like EPS is convenient when it works properly.

Cons: What did you like least about MyTAXPrepOffice?
There were multiple critical calculation and form issues during the tax season that impacted accuracy and compliance:

1.Repeated miscalculations on NJ returns, including Earned Income Credit (EIC) and Child Tax Credit
2.NJ SCH-HCC form was not properly generated or required, resulting in approximately 100 returns being filed without it
3. Federal SCH 1-A was not included in several returns early in the season
4. Incorrect exemption calculations on NJ-1040 after system updates
5. Rental loss calculation issues on Massachusetts returns
6. Lack of proper diagnostics or warnings (e.g., missing forms or inconsistent filing statuses)
7. Delayed or insufficient response to known system issues

These are not minor issues—they directly affect tax accuracy and can require amendments, creating extra work and risk for preparers.

Describe your overall experience with MyTAXPrepOffice
My overall experience this tax season was frustrating due to repeated system errors and calculation issues. As a professional preparing a high volume of returns, accuracy and reliability are critical. Unfortunately, the software failed in several key areas, particularly with NJ state returns and credit calculations.

The SCH-HCC issue alone impacted a large number of filed returns without any clear warning from the system. Combined with EIC and Child Tax Credit miscalculations, this creates serious compliance concerns and potential liability.

While the software is easy to use, the lack of reliability and quality control this season outweighs its usability. Significant improvements are needed in calculation accuracy, form validation, and system testing before updates are released.

This software is SO CLUNKY. So many issues. The online help is totally outdated, you end up having to call for help. The phone help is good, when you can reach them. But I should not have to call. Huge learning curve. I will not renew.
When I first bought the software, they more or less demanded I leave a 5 star review here. I don't remember if I left one or not (I don't see it.) There are SO MANY better programs out there.

Worst program with customer service; if you are thinking about a program, do not pick this one. They never answer and always make you create a ticket that never gets resolved. If their program is down no announcements are made; they never answer

Horrible help, bad system programming for anything pertaining to foreign tax returns.

Steer clear of this software. 2 years in row this software produced huge glitches that resulting in me losing dozen of clients. Program deleted Real Estate Taxes off of the Schedule "A" before e-filing the returns. This resulted with the IRS recalculating 43 of my returns submitted. Clients received reduced refunds or increased liability. Company would not give a refund, decided to hide behind the "small print". Did ZERO to offset the problem. Should have bailed in the first year - but no. Second year removed income from W-2 for NJ. Resulting in increased refunds that client was not entitled too. Bad Programmers. Bad Management.
