Great photobooks and first class customer support
I’ve used Motif Photos for photobooks many times over several years. The books are always excellent and the software is pretty good, particularly when used on a laptop (not so good on an iPad).
Today I had a problem soon after placing a new order for a photobook. I spotted a small but annoying mistake in the title which I hadn’t seen before. I contacted Motif via its chatbot, explained the problem, and was quickly transferred to a human agent, Fakhour. He was extremely helpful, told me he was able to cancel the order because it had only just been placed, and that I could then re-order the book after making the necessary correction. Great customer support - and even the chatbot (these things are so often ghastly!) worked well and efficiently.

Motif photo albums are the best...for sure. But...
I have used Motif/Mimeo for several years, for annual family photo albums, and occasionally albums for special occasions. And I have also occasionally used other photobook providers. Generally the Motif quality is excellent, far superior to others, and all my family are thrilled with them. For 2025 we finished with 61 pages and over 400 photos - our biggest yet!
To do it properly it takes considerable time, but worth it in our view.
There is, however, one shortcoming in the Motif photobook process: Motif could benefit by using text boxes that are less difficult to format and to place on a page, either on or between the accompanying photos. My suggestion would be to have smaller text 'boxes' that can be more easily sized. Or a popup window in which the user could key in the text and the program would automatically insert the text, set boundaries for the resulting text 'box', and then allow the user to move it intact to wherever it is wanted on the page, or in a photo. I hope I have described properly the process I envision, which would substantially cut down the required time to insert text into a project.

Projects like that are not small undertakings, and knowing your family looks forward to them each year is exactly why we care so much about quality.
Also, we love the feedback around text boxes. The way you described your ideal workflow is clear and practical, and we can absolutely see how easier sizing and placement would reduce friction during longer projects. When you are long into a 400-photo album, even small formatting hurdles can add up quickly.

Great customer service
I submitted a review of my Motif/Mimeo photo book saying how disappointed I was with the product as it didn’t match previous books that I had received. I had an excellent response from their customer support team explaining that I had received the wrong format of photo book and they would reproduce it in a hardcover format as per previous books I received at no cost! This is customer service excellence!

Das Einfügen von Textfeldern
Das Einfügen von Textfeldern ist sehr komplex. Wenn die Textfeldgrösse geändert wird ändern sich die Größen der benachbarten Bilder automatisch mit, was nicht beabsichtigt ist. Sehr aufwändig ist es auch den Leertext jedesmal zuerst löschen zu müssen.

Finished book June 3 couldn't get it to…
Finished book June 3 couldn't get it to print chatted with about 6 or 7 people, had to end up figuring out on my own. Had to go back create a book click motif- then put in tray photos that only transferred one at a time. I am making her book two because the photos I thought were there, and started over transferring again. Taking me weeks vs days. I haven't seen the book because it went to my granddaughter. I am sorry that no one could actually understand me, that's on me, but the old days were so easy and did 2nd granddaughter on Shutterfly. I thought I had to go back to Motif and so 3rd granddaughter was Motif. First granddaughters was so easy and made 3 books and they arrived all on time when finally could get rid of yellow and red triangles.Then paid for and shipped. It's exhausting.If I edited, they said pixels bad. So not happy but gave 3 stars for your effort and hopefully I can get this last book out in time. Thank you for listening.

Infuriating, expensive, but really high quality
We have been getting annual photo albums printed from Motif (and before that, Apple) for over 10 years. Print quality is fabulous. The ordering process in recent years is infuriating: clicking "buy" in the Mac OS app doesn't work, you have to try it a few times, then contact tech support, they say "oh yeah, it doesn't work" and tell you some magic sequence of keyboard clicks to export the right kind of pdf which you then upload to some secret bit of the website. Every year it drives me nuts and I'm on the verge of giving up and getting our album printed somewhere else. Which would doubtless be cheaper: Motif is expensive. When it arrives, though, it is beautiful. Please please please, how hard can it be to get someone to fix your website?
