Metrum Acoustics™ Arvostelua 

Fantastic communication and products from the Metrum Team. I had the pleasure of dealing with Anjo and he was nothing but spectacular. It all started with a simple question on Facebook that turned into myself purchasing the Ambre and Onyx within a few days!

An excellent dac (Amethyst) but appalling service. I sent them my old dac for repair, and after the repair was completed they sent it to the wrong address. That was unfortunate, but what followed was appalling, as at no point did they suggest they would do anything to help me retrieve it, and they ignored email after email (roughly 6 in all) in which I asked what was happening. It was the worst service I have ever experienced with any reputable company I have dealt with.

As I would expect from Metrum Acoustics the customer service, product and packaging were first rate!

I have been a customer of Metrum Acoustics for a number of years, and consider myself incredibly fortunate to have found them.

From a customer service perspective, I have always found the Metrum team to be responsive, polite and helpful. On the only occasion I have experienced a technical issue, it was resolved quickly and to my complete satisfaction. I have to say that such great customer service is worth a lot; these products are not exactly cheap and it is reassuring to know that you are well cared for after the purchase.

From a product perspective, what can I say? I am a devoted Metrum Acoustics fan. I currently own a Metrum Acoustics Musette, a Metrum Acoustics Aurix and, until recently, owned a Metrum Acoustics Onyx which I have just upgraded to the Metrum Acoustics Adagio. Their DACs are genuinely World class. The build quality and finish is stunning, and pride of ownership is immense.

I do not believe you will find a better DAC from any company. Please, buy with confidence!

Great products but on a simple Question if it was possible to get a test product I have never got an answer. This was better before. For now only 3 stars. Should be looked at.

I bought Metrum lowest DAC model 6 years ago and until now it still performs well in transparency and musicality. I would not say on par with other high end non-sampling R2R tube DAC models and make which costs much more but if you hook it with valve gear, it is very hard to hear the difference. I cannot imagine how Metrum latest higher end would sound like but certainly more sensation.

While Metrum has moved on from its earlier DACs, they still rank with the finest DACs. In short, Metrum's engineers are far more talented than other audio engineers.

Other engineers dismiss NOS, No-Over-Sampling, DACs because it is just so much easier to filter at higher frequencies. Metrum keeps the signal pure and delivers an immediacy that far more expensive components cannot approach.

Metrum brings you closer to the music as it really is. Metrum involves you. Competitors may soothe you more, but you will listen to music less frequently.

The Hex has performed flawlessly for 4.5 years. It exceeded expectations in 2014 and continues to wow and impress. It has allowed me to upgrade my system around it. Quite literally, it is now the oldest piece of my entire setup. Which is to say, at this point, it still is not the weakest link.

My audiophile heart is set on Adagio next. Although the Hex may go, I wouldn't think of replacing Metrum. It is "a company you keep." They are a most ethical engineering-oriented company with a high-value line of products. ... and they manage to do it while keeping EU engineers, craftsmen and staff employed.

i have an onyx. excellent converter. when i discovered that the usb receiver is powered by the source and i mailed the company about that, they did not understand my question and my mail was blocked.
anyone knows that the performance of electronics start with a good power supply. so i think the service is very bad since there is a new eco

update : for the record i never asked them to modify the power supply, i just wanted an answer.
i do not need them to build a perfect power supply for the usbmodule, i build one myself with excellent results.

Metrum Acoustic is a company which produces excellent DACs.
They do not use oversampling or upsampling which which gives them a more analog sound.
These non-oversampling DACs are now led by Metrum Acoustic, which produces chips which are not only extremely fast, but have two times twelve bit decoders coordinated by an FPGA to produce real 24 bits down to the smallest detail. These chips are employed in double mono configurations for stereo and are precise and extremely fast. The Metrum Amethyst DAC which I own has "only" two of those, while higher models have more for even more minute details.
The resolution is only limited by todays USB audio standards being 24bit / 384 khz.
In combination with super highres recorded files as the Norwegian company 2L delivers in 24 bit / 352 khz the impression to listen to hifi vanishes and gives way to a live like experience.
It is like having considered the high fi journey as traveling a mountain - and now having reached the top looking down.
If you have the money get a Metrum Amethyst. If you are well of get a even better model. If you are poor get an used Metrum Octave.
Whatever you spend, you will get the best value for your money and be very happy.

Gaat diep in het laag en zijde zacht hoog.
Instrumenten klinken levensecht.
Meer hoef je niet te hebben of je moet heel veel meer investeren.

Heb een amethyst aangeschaft: mooi apparaat, goed geluid, snelle verzending.

Alleen de website: super commercieel, erg gericht om je over te halen tot verkoop. Ik kom op de website voor informatie/nieuws. Helaas staan de laatste ontwikkelingen/producten niet op de site. Informatie over de mooie apparatuur is summier en uiteraard meteen door gelinkt aan de webshop. Jammer. Doet erg Amerikaans aan, terwijl het een Nederlands bedrijf is.

TL/TR: mooie apparatuur, marketing technisch te commercieel.
