Worst insurance company I have ever used (and I am 71 and have used a lot). Data entered onto the internet form was not transferred accurately to the proposal sheet and had to be changed. Long phone call (at my expense) and still not 100% correct. Issues with the transfer of the no claims discount (due to an overlap of 8 days which other companies have ignored but not this lot). Overly restrictive terms and conditions (has to be locked up between 10pm and 6am and locked/immobilised if left un-attended outside of that). Penny pinching. Poor service. Should have read the reviews. If I could give them zero stars I would. Do not use this company. Motor Cycle News - why are you giving your good name to a bunch of sharks like this?

Terrible communication, even after giving the reg of my new bike they needed to confirm the age of the bike, because it was a new '26 plate, only a week or so old, they had to confirm this before confirming the policy, which they have already sent me a schedule for! MCN proceeds to then tell me my insurance for a £2k bike has gone up another £76! Which i had to pay as I already paid nearly £100 for a non-refundable deposit. These guys are blatant crooks and should be avoided at all costs.

Actually couldn’t have been worse from start to finish, bought a policy with them because it was a lot cheaper than other places but immediately regretted it, constant phone calls asking to verify information, they asked me to send pictures of my motorcycle in my garage, I send 10+ photos from every angle over the course of two weeks and Everytime they came back with it not being “satisfactory” even though it is a standard garage on the side of my house , as was easily seen from the entire photoshoot I was asked to take. After it kept coming back as “unsatisfactory” they then said it was classed more as a “private driveway” and said it would cost *double* what I was paying originally to insure it. Could not believe it I have never had this much trouble with an insurance company before, I immediately cancelled it as I thought the £60 cancellation fee was worth not having to deal with them again. Please please please avoid it is such a scam.

If I could I would give less than 1 STAR! Absolutely horrendous service! Stay away! Took a policy out and got a text and an email to say it was at risk of being cancelled so I phone them and the guy had questions about my occupation (I am an admin assistant) told him my job role and what I do within it, he goes away for a couple of minutes and then comes back and tells me I’m actually something COMPLETELY different and that the policy will go up by twelve quid oh and by the way he’s charging me £45 for the privilege! ABSOLUTELY NOT! Cancelled the policy but they decided to keep half the deposit because reasons. Oh and when I said I wanted speak to a manager or someone higher up I was told that’s not a thing, we don’t do that! ABSOLUTE JOKE SCAM OF A COMPANY!!

Stay away , go elsewhere .Really wished I’d have seen these reviews before taking out a policy with MCN. Absolute nightmare company, poor communication , don’t deserve one star

Quoted online. Agent called and I explained CLEARLY that previous insurer was mce and they went bust hence no proof of ncd.
Obvious from my time of owning the bike with no claims registered that I was ok. Now cancelled insurance and want 125quid for privilege!!!

what a waste of my time , totally useless and a thorn in the side of what was a trusted brand ... i'm done with MCN & I'd suggest many more are that can't even be bothered ot leave a review. Sorry guys you are total toss

Worst company for insuring bikes ever. I was insured with them and bike sure Same company) for 3 years and yet they wouldn't uphold my NCD as they couldn't find it. The premium for the year was £126 with 5yrs NCD and then they said it would be £244 with no NCD !!! I told them just cancel it as ive had much cheaper quotes elsewhere (one Call) Because I was on cover for 9 days they wanted to charge half the years premium to cancel. Absolutely ridiculous what a rip of.. I will never insure my bikes again under Bike sure or MCN ever again.. plus I'm advising all my friends todo the same. Ive also just informed my 3.6m Googlers of the same.

Absolutely Disgraceful Experience Will Never Use MCN Insurance Again

I’ve been insured with MCN in the past and had no issues, which is exactly why I chose to return to them even though this time their quote was 30% more expensive than competitors. I was happy to pay a premium based on previous good service. What a mistake that was.

I had to cancel the policy within the 14-day cooling-off period, having held it for less than a week and never used it. To my shock, I was charged a £75 cancellation fee — an outrageous amount for a policy that hadn’t even begun to serve its purpose and was nearly %50 of the overall annual cost. When I called to question this, the woman on the phone was rude, condescending, and blatantly unprofessional. She laughed at me, as if my frustration at being ripped off was some kind of joke.

From the start, she was deliberately obstructive, aggressively going through every single security question like an interrogation, clearly hoping I’d get one wrong so she could refuse to help me. It was a calculated and unpleasant experience, and her tone throughout was dismissive and smug.

It’s a real shame that a company I once trusted has stooped to such predatory, money-grabbing tactics, paired with appalling customer service. I can confidently say I will never use MCN Insurance again — and I would strongly advise others to think twice before giving them your business.

Got a grey import? nope, sorry. Had a really powerful bike and want something else? nope, sorry. want any bike at all? nope, sorry. Want a quote for anything? nope, sorry. Seems it hates me. I'm 51, live in an area of literally zero crime, locked secured garage, been on a bike since 16, have another bike as well, but computer says no for everything. Don't even bother wasting your time with it - it'll only annoy you.

Quoted insurance prices were 5x that of other comparison websites and since using this service I am receiving multiple spam calls.

Dishonest insurance company. My policy hadn't even started and they saying unless I pay more for a claim I did not mention, then they will charge me. When actually there was no claim, it's an error from a previous insurer they say I need to have removed. So why still try charge me more.
Read the small print before you sign, once they have your payment details they try scam you into paying more.

Never got as far as a quote their website app just locks up ?

I'm not one to complain publicly usually, but after reading alot of other reviews on MCN compare, I'm in awe this company is still on the go.

Like many others I did my insurance online, had all of my documents sent to me and then a day later received a phone call informing me there had been a system error and that they would require another £750 to insure my bike. I asked them to cancel the policy due to their error but they said there would be a £65 cancellation fee!! I argued to the ends of the earth with the young lady on the phone about me being financially penalised for their system error, but she kept saying that I could either accept the increase in policy price or cancel the policy facing the £65 cancellation fee. After being held on hold for a while she then told me she had spoken to her manager rand that they could reduce the cost to £35 to cancel or continue with the price increase. At the end of a very frustrating conversation with the MCN compare representative, who was rude and argumentative in a aggressive manner I told them my only option was to cancel and foot the £35 cancellation fee. I still can't believe after years of buying MCN and subscribing to their YouTube channels etc they're literally robbing their fanbase with their insurance company. Thankyou Swinton insurance for treating with respect and fairness following this debacle.

Be warned and unlike me, read the reviews on the product your buying from first, or whom you are buying it from. Really gutted that a company I've followed for many a year would stoop so low with bikers

Avoid, avoid, avoid. Nothing but hassle. Quote almost doubled from original one and insurance provider changed twice after requests for more information and proof of this, proof of that. Charged an admin fee of £35 before policy had even started after their online form failed to let me upload all information. Constantly getting emails for extra information otherwise I may not be insured even
after it had been provided.The final straw was after I was told they had everything they needed I then got a request for a photograph of my bike inside my garage because, and I quote, "your address is a flat and flats don't usually have garages." Google maps? Never in 44 years of biking have I had so much hassle trying to buy a policy, I can only guess at the nightmare ahead if I ever had to make a claim.
Decided to cancel on the grounds of no confidence. Was told there would be a cancellation fee of £65, when I questioned this and asked about my legal right of 14 days grace to cancel without penalties I was told to read the online terms and conditions (small print). All this before my policy even started. Absolute scam, avoid like the plague and I'm probably better off losing £65 now than riding around for the next 12 months worrying about the integrity of my insurance company.

I have used MCN compare for over 10 years, this year I have been let down massively. Double checked the details of the quote, making sure I am covered for other peoples bikes.....lucky enough to have been offered a bike for this weekend and thought I'd check my policy first, only to discover the policy doesn't include the use of other bikes!!!! I didn't take the cheapest quote, I took the one that had this included!!!!

The prices are no better than other comparison websites, and they cold call your mobile number afterwards even when you opt out of this.

Intrusive, unnecessary, no cheaper, and in breach of Data Protection rules. Poor.

The agent was very professional, calm and polite. There ends the good news.
I was asked some additional Qs after payment. Why after? If they were important, surely ask before. Are customers supposed to guess what they feel is importamt?
They raised the Qs a day after I paid and an hour before the bike was due to be delivered. If I accepted their amendments the policy would have risen in cost by aprox 550%. Obv no go so I cancelled. £95 admin charge to cancel insurance that had been theoretically in place tho not confirmed for one hour, and before I had taken delivery of the bike.
A cheap and nasty scam. Insure elsewhere.

Really difficult to deal with. Can’t phone, went round in circles with the portal, had to do a chat, answer a load of questions, wait in a queue for 20 mins for an agent, then answer the same questions again. Took over an hour for something that should have taken 5 mins if you got to speak to a real person. Not worth the effort.
