Recently there were some problems with MAXQDA's artificial intelligence on my computer, but very quickly the support team solved the problems and in the end I learnt more about using the software.

Ich bin neu bei Maxqda und hatte Tailwind als Zusatz abonniert. Es gelang mir aber nicht, das Abo zu aktivieren. Das Serviceteam hat in fünf sehr freundlichen Rückmeldungen eine Lösung des Problems gefunden. Hervorzuheben ist, dass die Rückmeldungen seh schnell kamen. Klasse!

The response from Support was immediate and detailed. They made an effort to understand my situation and questions, and they proposed an individually tailored solution.

With a view to the range and especially the mixed-methods tools included in MaxQDA, it has been the go-to Software for me for qualitative and mixed-methods analyses. However, I am frustrated by the priorities that seem to have been set recently. The switch to a subscription-only model and the emphasis on AI tools and additional statistic packages runs counter to what I perceive to be a need to overhaul the base performance of the software. Two issues in particular have plagued my experience with MaxQDA for a while. First, often arbitrary and usually unnecessary word limits for document names, codes, and paraphrases. Second, and more fundamentally, the performance of MaxQDA is still underwhelming for a professional, full-price software (at least on my Apple Silicon based Mac). This regards frequent and unexpected crashes and data loss. Regarding the latter, it is disappointing that MaxQDA does not have a full version history feature; if, which happens frequently, rather large parts of transcripts or other documents are deleted, they cannot be made undone with 'undo' and the new project file overwrites the original one; automatic backups can be set to run at maximum (!) once every 24h. These and other performance issues make MaxQDA feel like an unreliable platform to work with more complex projects. I hope that updates, also for recent versions such as Max2022, will address these performance issues and that security features can be reconsidered.

I was struggling to find a right pricing plan as I am no longer a student but a graduate who applied for multiple PhD programs and was waiting for admission results. I tried Chatbot service, which wasn't helpful, and the timezone difference wasn't helping either. I somehow was able to get in touch with customer service, and am so thankful for the service I received.

Sehr gutes Programm für die qualitative Forschung (Literaturverwaltung bis hin zur Analyse). Es werden Einführungskurse angeboten, zudem ist der Kundenservice sehr hilfreich und schnell, wenn mal etwas nicht klappt. Absolut top!

I have been using MaxQDA for my courses and my own research. It has been a trusty tool for my work and the company has continued to upgrade and improve its product - the most recent was to integrate the Gen AI tools as part of our research process. Furthermore, they have been very helpful with providing free teaching licenses and that has allowed me to teach more effectively for my qualitative courses.

MAXQDA is a leading software company. Through the three versions of the Software, Researchers can select the numerus tools adapted to their needs and methodology. Beyond that, MAXQDA has great and responsive personel, ready to help and give guidence and guideline.

The software is, in my experience, one of the best qualitative analysis tools available. I’ve tested many others, and this one truly stands out. It offers a wide range of data analysis options and an impressive suite of visualisation tools, making text analysis both engaging and insightful at every stage.

The customer service is equally excellent—very responsive and proactive, with support provided within just a few hours if needed. For those new to qualitative data analysis, MAXQDA is a fantastic starting point. They provide numerous online tutorials and host annual events, making it easy to learn and grow as you use the software.

This programme is really great. It might be a bit cheap for students.

This program is very useful. It speeds up our work and makes it practical. We save time.

I used MAXQDA to code the interviews I conducted for my master's thesis. My university provided me with the software, and I was really happy with it. I didn't know the software at all, but still, I was able to familiarize myself with it quickly thanks to its ease of use and the numerous free webinars.

Mit dem Erwerb der Lizenz habe ich ein funktionierendes Programm erwartet, welches ich für die Auswertung meiner qualitativen Befragungen meiner Bachelorarbeit nutzen kann. Leider haben einige Funktionen (wie AI Assist) nicht funktioniert, sodass ich mich Anfang Dezember zur Behebung an den Support gewendet habe. Bis heute habe ich keine brauchbare Rückmeldung in Form einer Lösung erhalten. Wie sagt man so schön? Danke für gar nichts!

Bietet viele Coding-Möglichkeiten (ich habe nur Freitext-Antworten aus Survey-Daten vercodet), aber:
1) erstaunlich ist, dass die vercodeten Daten nicht weiterverarbeitbar exportiert werden können: SPSS-Exporte umfassen nur grobe Zusammenfassungen und auch Excel-Exporte sind ganz offensichtlich nicht möglich. Ohne Exportfunktion auf Fallebene (also jede Zeile ein Befragter, wie die Daten beim Import vorliegen) und pro vergebenen Code eine Datenspalte (mit zB 1 bei Befragten, auf die dieser Code zutrifft) ist eine sinnvolle Datenweiterverarbeitung nicht möglich.
2) AI-Funktionen noch sehr unintelligent: ich würde erwarten, dass zB für Längsschnittstudien oder Neu-Importe das bisherige Coding-System mit Hilfe der AI lernt und selbständig codieren kann, aber das Codesystem hat nix lernendes, Autocoding-Funktion leider noch eingeschränkt und fehlerhaft.
3) Hilfesystem ist Träge: warte seit 4 Tagen auf Antwort. Aber ich werde mein Kommentar anpassen, falls MAXQDA mir Lösungen aufzeigt.

Ich habe mir MAXQDA für die Transkription meiner Experteninterviews für die Bachelorarbeit geholt. Habe die 14 Tage-Testversion ausprobiert und muss sagen, dass es zur reinen Transkription absolut nichts bringt. Das kann man genau so gut alleine ohne Programm machen. Das aber schlimmste war, als ich meine Dinge nach den 14 Tagen aus dem Programm ziehen wollte gesperrt war. Man hat nach den 14 Tagen keinerlei Zugriff mehr auf seine Sachen. Daraufhin habe ich den Support angefragt, die mir nicht ein Stück helfen wollten und nur meinten, dass die Test Version auch nur zum Testen der Funktionen sei und nicht für die Arbeit von "Forschungsarbeiten". Ich müsse mir das Programm nun vollständig erwerben um wieder Zugriff auf MEINE Sachen zubekommen. Ich wollte nicht weiter arbeiten sondern lediglich meine Texte die ich in ca. 5 Stunden mit dem Programm niedergeschrieben herausziehen. Also nutzt gerne die Test-Version und schaut es euch an, ABER speichert alles direkt auf eurem Rechner ab. Und der Support auch eine völlige Katastrophe! Viele Grüße

Studentenlizenz mit 6-monatiger Laufzeit erworben, Aktivierungscode erhalten und nach 4 Monaten eingelöst. Zeigt nur 2 Monate Laufzeit an, MAXQDA Verbi GmbH sagt: "Laufzeiten unserer Lizenzen immer mit dem Kaufdatum starten und nicht erst mit der Aktivierung."

Nicht branchenüblich, siehe Microsoft Keys etc.
Laufzeit-Beginn solcher separat als Code versendeter Lizenzen erst ab Aktivierung akzeptabel.

Verbraucherschutz kontaktiert und restliche Laufzeit wird vermutlich eingeklagt, mal sehen was sich ergibt.

Zum Codieren und Transkribieren sehr gut geeignet, allerdings sind die codierten Daten wertlos, da die Exportfunktion noch unnützer ist als die Analyse-Funktion. Einfache quantitative Auswertungen sind möglich, allerdings hat selbst Excel hier mehr Funktionen. Sinnvoll wäre ein direkt Export in SPSS gewesen, was jedoch nicht möglich ist. Schade.
