Scammers
Scammers - be careful - they take a 25euro toll deposit and never refund it - i have had several bookings and chased endlessly with no luck. They also debited 40 euros randomly from my card weeks after I had returned a car with no problems. They are cheap. Their cars at Lisbon are decent. But too much hassle. Zest, who I rented through, were not interested so I will get a chargeback from my card company

I booked a car with Master Kings and was duped when I returned it. They have an out of hours charge of Euro 30 if you return before 8am which I was informed of when I picked up the car.
I booked for an 8am return so turned up at their kiosk before 8 to return at 8 to avoid late return fees. This sounds sensible.
A rep from MK arrived early for work and after dealing with another customer in the queue he approached me at just before 8 so I returned the car.
I have now been charged an out of hours charge and the contract I signed has been updated with an incorrect return time. Needless to say MK are not budging so I have been duped.
You need to sign a contract to get the car but the return time etc is obviously left blank until the return so they have your signature but you do not see how they finalise the paperwork.
I am also still waiting for a toll refund - 40 days since my return.

Master Kings is TERRIBLE!!! STAY FAR AWAY!
I have rented cars in Portugal and always had a positive experience, so I guess I was due for a terrible one. Master Kings succeeded in delivering that beyond any reasonable expectation I could have had. With the exception of the fellow who collected the car from me, the three other representatives I dealt with were consistently rude and combative, almost like they'd been trained to it. I paid about 250 E to rent the car through Enjoy car travel and I purchased comprehensive insurance. When I showed up to collect the car, I the M.K. guy told me that they "don't care" what Enjoy said, the car is theirs and they do not recognize the insurance. To get the same coverage, I was asked to pay 20 e per day, which more than doubled the cost of the rental. The vehicle was fine, but when I called the night before returning it to ask about the return of the vehicle, (they currently have no office at the Lisbon Airport), I was told that if I returned it any EARLIER or LATER than the appointed time, I would be charged an extra 50 e. When I said that I did not think it was right to be charged for returning the car an hour and half earlier, the phone rep started to berate me and got hostile. I finally asked her to watch her tone as she was speaking to a customer, and that made her worse. She said she was working while I was vacationing and that if I returned the car any earlier without going their through THEIR return procedure, they would call the police! At that point, I actually started laughing and asked her how that would go...sticking the Portuguese police on me for returning their car earlier. Then she really lost it and started to insult me. The whole thing was a joke. Stay away from this outfit. They deserve to go out of business, and Enjoy car rental is foolish to associate themselves with this company.

Forudbetalingen går igennem på Visakort, der kommer ikke en advarsel om at kortet ikke kan bruges ved udlevering - men der bliver lige taget dobbelt op for forsikring.
Den tegnede forsikring hjemmefra er ubrugelig.
Og man har som kunde ikke en chance - man skla jo bruge en bil - og biludlejningen udnytter det 100 % -
Så der blev købt dobbelt forsikring - og en udgift udover - måske til vejskat på 75 euro.
Flabet betjening - ingen hjælp/service - ej heller til at finde bilen - "bilen står ude bagved"
Efter de ca. 100 ekstra Euro - havde det været billigere at have benyttet et "kendt biludlejning".
Har meldt sagen tilbage til virksomheden - i deres feedback - men ikke modtaget nogen tilbagemelding.

DO NOT use this scam company!!!! We were stranded on the A22 for 7 hours due to an error with fuelling. Petrol/Gas pumps very confusing . We were told by MasterKings that we were negligent and that we would be charged the tow unless we tell them we don’t know why we broke down. It took all day on the busy highway after MANY conversations with Sofia to finally have a 2nd vehicle come out to us at 6pm. During the 7 hours we had several good samaritans stop. Finally two police offers assisted and communicated with MasterKings directly. They did not offer MasterKings any kind words and were appalled the company did not come to our aide earlier (first call to MasterKings was 11:17am). The guy that brought out the 2nd vehicle after 7 hours even had the audacity to sarcastically ask if we can drive automatic. We were automatically charged a hefty fee without car being properly diagnosed by mechanic which was to happen two days later. I had read reviews prior to booking with zest and did not want to finalize with MasterKings but was assured that they were decent.
Also to note when we were picking up our vehicle, a lady came to ask why she did not have the pre booked SAT NAV in her car. The agent rolled his eyes, made some sarcastic comment and then continued to laugh with his colleagues. This was the same man that came out with our 2nd car!!! Customer service goes along way and they have none!!! Read the reviews on this company and trust your gut!!!!
They do not keep their word - use Centauro instead
I used MasterKings for 2 years for over 16 weeks of car hire. I thought I'd found a local company that actually did car hire sensibly. The service was always good.
I've been told multiple times when inspecting the car at the beginning: "We do not charge for cosmetic damages". That was until there was cosmetic damage on the car when returning for my most recent hire.
Then, they do charge. In fact 1 scratch = 385EUR.
I even appealed via email for them not to proceed with the damage claim on the basis that they said they didn't charge for cosmetic damage, and I was a regular customer.
The best part: They didn't respond to the email, but I know they received it because then used that email as evidence to back up the fact I accepted there was some damage when claiming against the company.
Just like most local companies, they are after your money and will use any means necessary, even deceit, to get it.
Wouldn't use again
I had paid for a car from Lisbon airport. I had to wait an hour for the representative to come to the meeting point. Then it took an hour and a half for them to sort out my car. No GPS as ordered, they had to find one. Also told a Fiat Panda was an upgrade from a Peugeot 108! The car was damaged on the rear nearside wing, plus all the tyres a different pressure when I checked them during my stay, so it wasn't even road worthy. I was in Portugal on business and visiting friends and travelling from the Silver Coast to Tavira. Not impressed. You also have to leave the car at Terminal 1 not Terminal 2 where you depart from, so allow plenty of time to get across. Wouldn't use them again, but the staff were helpful even though disorganised.

Car was dirty, little gas and we had to wait another 30 minutes to report a small scratch. Saw on another review that others had this situation did not see a scratch in the dark garage and wer charged an DD thought it was a acam. This feels like a fly by night operation.

Charged extra costs that are covered in contract! Handing in keys at airport was only allowed when paying extra. Threatening with theft and penalties: will not pick them ever again.
150 EURO Fine
On returning the hire car to Faro Airport, we were charged 150 euros for missing "insurance papers" that were supposedly in the glove box. For 10 years we have been hiring cars from Faro Airport, mostly with Masterkings, Never has the glove box been checked for paperwork, never has the guy glanced at the car and then gone straight to the glove box. And how does it cost 150 euros to replace a piece of paper. BE AWARE.
