Unfortunately my experiences with Martin and Co Dundee left a lot to be desired.

As the manager of my rental property they had to be repeatedly chased up to make payment on bills and occasionally chased up to make payments to myself. My first three months were meant to have had the management fee waived, but I was charged them and had to proactively chase them up to get the fees returned.

When selling the property, Ian, was often unable to maintain professional conduct. He wrote emails like they were a text conversation, meaning I would often have to wade through multiple emails. He also struggled dealing with the other owners in my building, not able to maintain professional distance from building issues. He told me on a call, “I wouldn’t sell your property to my gran”. He chased up payment multiple times before my money had arrived, and also after I had paid him. He’s not a bad person, just frustrating and a bit useless

No wonder you just have 2*s on here. A plumber came round to fix a problem in our next door neighbours property involving a leak... They turned off an outdoor stopcock which serves our property leaving us with a one year old who we cannot give any water, a bath, we cannot use the toilet etc. Your agents said they were sending a plumber round within an hour - still waiting hours later. Rang the emergency number and no response. Awful. Do not use them!

I will never recommend anyone use this stat agent as they are unprofessional, the staff lie about everything, and the customer service is the worst ever.

Weymouth branch is horrible.
They are doing no fault evictions withouth any compunction. Would give zero star is possible. They lie as you read a book. Unpolite and rude.

Fraud Company! Please don't be misled by the positive reviews below; most of them seem to be written by their own people. If you want to save your money, time, and energy, stay away from this company. They are only interested in taking money from people while providing zero customer service or assistance with any issues you raise.

I'd like to highlight a few individuals who have been of absolutely no help and perfectly represent the company's poor practices:

These people will tell you that they cannot assist you with anything. They are just here to steal your money. Avoid this company at all costs.

We made a mistake by choosing this company to rent an apartment. After all the issues we've experienced, we are still waiting to get our deposit back. As usual, we're receiving nothing but excuses for more deductions and delays. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company and its people.

This letting agency is an absolute disgrace. I was left with no water and heating for TWO MONTHS in the middle of winter due to a broken boiler. Despite reporting the issue repeatedly, their only advice was to "boil a kettle" – as if that could replace proper heating and hot water.

Their negligence led to a leak in the bedroom, which then triggered my carbon monoxide alarm. This alarm, which I had to purchase myself, quite literally saved my life, as it resulted in the gas supply being shut off to prevent further danger. Without it, I might not be here to write this review!

To add insult to injury, I had to pay out of my own pocket to move my belongings while repairs were carried out, and was forced to sleep in the lounge. The bedroom was unusable due to the leaks and damage.

This agency clearly has no regard for the safety or well-being of their tenants. I would not recommend them to anyone. Their incompetence and disregard for basic human needs and safety are beyond unacceptable. Steer clear for your own safety!

I would give it a 0 if I could, the staff at this estate agency are appalling, not only did they cancel my viewing and didnt bother telling me until I rang them on the day as I was waiting outside the property! I got no apology, I was told that I’d get a call back and never did it’s been a few weeks so I rang them back and the guy didn’t even introduce the company name he went ‘hello’ like it’s a personal family member he’s speaking too, then asked my number because I rang on a no caller number and told me the property isn’t available when it’s still online. The worst part was I then received 3 unknown calls right after the call ended, when I have never received an unknown call in the 2 years of having this number as no one has my number, so I’m 99% sure it’s the agent that I spoke to as he took my number and decided to ring me and be on mute. How disgusting and unprofessional!

I worked with the Burgess Hill office for over 10 years. Jason Chandler and Caroline Wooden and the whole team provided first class customer service: friendly, professional, knowledgeable, flexible, with great commercial insight. They let the property for nine years consistently and then sold the property within a week of it going on the market. I cannot rate their performance highly enough. Thank you!

Very rude people .. I tried to book a viewing and the person of the phone was getting frustrated that I wanted to book two viewings .. they put me on hold and hung up on me , I had to call back regarding the viewing after being interrogated about my salary. Person on the phone said “ listen let’s cut to the chase can you afford it or not “ to which I said yes I tried saying this multiple times .
To which he said I have 20 years experience so I beg to differ .. really terrible .

My experience is with the pontefract branch
The staff call for late payments before the due date, tell lies and try to steal deposits. They are extremely rude and will only answer the phone if it’s regarding payments. Will refuse to speak if it’s regarding issues. They leave maintenance Issue for months and refuse to send anyone. They use old photos to submit to deposit schemes. They show up to houses unannounced and try to make tenants pay for issues that the landlord is liable for.

I rang Martin and co for the second time for a viewing on a property I was interested in. The lady on the phone asked me what my situation was. I explained that I already owned a property on the street and would probably look at selling it. Ten minutes later I get a call from another woman telling me if I’m not in a position to move they can’t grant me a viewing. Didn’t even bother to ask , just assumed I had to sell to buy ! What a way to treat people, disgusting as I had the cash !!

If possible i would give minus five stars!!!

Martin&co letting unit in Banbury cost me great stress.
Lack of any professionalism.
Not answer emails and reports.
Sending the bad contracts even after let them know it's wrong one.
Then took six months to get it right, after which you must sign six months back.
Pathetic!!!

Have no respect for one's privacy at all.
BEWARE of unannounced visits and catch you IN THE SHOWER!!!

When you cross the company threshold:
No way for a private face-to-face conversation,
just big chaos with no chance to be heard.
Rude behavior and lack of any compromise.
The tenant is always wrong.
You are just number and a loser at the entrance.
That's how I was feel every time at them office.

However they are very professional in reaching out for funds and lying about tenants to the landlords
Like: it's mess, badly smell, have zoo indoors, vermin and a lots more.
Shortly say's, you're not looking after the house.

Shame on you.

Totally horrible experience.

House looked like it’s abandoned during move in day. Place was a mess and was not even cleaned. Moulds in the bathroom. Windows dirty. After signing the contract, keys were just left in a key safe. Washing machine cannot be installed due to plumbing issues.

Workers were in during the day of move in and left the house in a hurry.

They were very eager to get the deposit but after they got the money, they were not helpful at all.

Was a tenant with this property manager for 2.5 years. Took care of the place, worked with them any time there were issues and always paid my rent on time.

They try to pay me in full by trying to pocket my £1k deposit and not responding to any queries regarding return. I now have to go through the faff of going through the DPS.

Martin & Co Huddersfield - the melting point property to be precise. Cant say much on the property itself because I never booked it, which I’m glad I didn’t. The problem was the lady behind the phone representing the company and presenting the property, absolutely disgusting no communication skills what so ever, huffing and puffing at me while I’m trying to comprehend what she is trying to say to me. It was utterly disgusting that she was speaking down to me as if I were somewhat beneath her. Clearly she woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but that is no excuse to take it out on potential future tenants. These aren't worth the money or headache, so save yourself!

Martin and co Nottingham are absolutely shocking from start to finish. Absolutely ridiculous moving out charges such as fingerprints on chrome light switches that need cleaning and a £33 to change a light bulb that had gone, and for replacement locks to be done as ‘I had not returned the keys’ they then proceeded to include a picture of the keys in the check out form, these are just a few examples, they have tried to charge almost £2000 in checking out expenses. I wanted to move out of my flat due to it becoming an unsafe place to live I.e. constant break ins to the building, human poo in the corridors and people smoking drugs in the hallways. Martin and co plus the landlord were no help at all waited months for responses. I made the decision to move out due to the conditions I was living in and from then on forward the company was a downright disgrace. Do not move in to a Martin and co property. They are horrendous to work with.

I contacted Martin & Co Plymouth on a Saturday morning at 10am. The phone line explained the office was now closed and that the opening hours were 9-2 on Saturday. Poor start. I went on to the Chat system and allegedly got a human who took all my details and would pass them to the relevant team. I also emailed them.
The following THURSDAY, as I’d heard nothing, I telephoned and the attitude I received was unprofessional and appalling. I wouldn’t deal with them and would urge anyone using them to switch agent if they want their property sold.
