Caveat Emptor
I thought I was purchasing a map of the city of Boston dating from 1838. What arrived was a small guidebook in poor condition containing two very small and faded maps of Boston. I returned the purchase, paying for the original shipping, the return shipping and a "restocking fee". This was not my best purchase after acquiring over twenty maps from this shop over a period of almost 20 years.

We are very sorry to see this review, and we were not aware that you were so unhappy about our return policy. We wish that you had asked for an exception or communicated your displeasure in some way, rather than leaving us a poor review. We are a very small business, run by two people, and returns are expensive, which is why we have the return policy that we have. We paid $20 to ship two items to you and only charged $10, and the cost of the credit card fees for both the original purchase and refund are covered by the restocking fee. Regarding your surprise at receiving a book instead of a map, perhaps you did not see the description of the item, which is below the images, and that could account for the confusion? The description states in several places that it is an antique book with maps and also states that it is in poor condition and could be restored. We are sorry you are so displeased with this purchase. We hope we will be able to help with any future antique map needs you may have. And please always feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the items on the website. Thank you for your business.

Longtime happy customer
I'm a longtime happy customer because Maps of Antiquity has never let me down. I'm known in our extended family as a giver of unique gifts—an antique map or print of something that has meaning to the recipient, often newlyweds. (Here's your hometown in 1880! Here's a 150-year-old print of your favorite flower!)
And they're usually a bargain.
These guys make me look good—what more can you ask for?
