I wanted a solution to view markdown files without seeing all the ugly formatting, this app was perfect, and the quicklook viewer makes it really convenient.

Does its job perfectly!

Finally found a great dedicated Markdown viewer application. It was surprisingly hard to find what I wanted. MacMD Viewer gives me a lightweight way to view a piles of markdown created in some personal AI agent workflows. I don't want an editor because I need to make sure I don't accidentally edit something I don't want to drift.

Great utility! Tried so many other apps for opening MD files and this one works the best.

As developer, what I would need ist that I can navigate similar to what I can do on github etc.

- Follow link (works most times already)
- Go back
- Go up
- View all *.md in directory and below

And simlar features.

This is a great app and fulfilling my use case well. It’s nice to have a modern and updated markdown viewer on the Mac. This works really well and I love the quick look integration in particular.
One slight grievance is since I have a production and development Mac, it’s annoying (and feels needlessly greedy) that my license only works for 1 Mac. It should be user based licensing, not per-device. No way I’m paying for a 2nd license of the same app for me to use on a 2nd computer part of the same development flow.

A great product that does one thing well: renders Markdown to a viewer window.

Really handy tool for viewing markdown with embedded mermaid diagrams, without having to fire up VS Code. Converting to pdf is simple as well, so covered everything I was looking for.

Simple, straightforward tool that works intuitively. Double-click the .md file, and it opens in MacMD Viewer all formatted.

A quite brilliant markdown viewer for Macs - beautiful design, active development, perfect Claude integration.

I've always written in Markdown (prose especially), but these days Claude Code writes even more. Plans, specs, docs. The challenge is ensuring you review all the docs without fighting your IDE or file system to find them.

Sure - for personal organised notes, Obsidian and Bear are terrific -and I use both. But those serve a different use case. Those are perfect for personal knowledge systems/PKMs. But what about single files, quick reviews of md files generated in codebases etc?

Yes plenty IDEs have integrated markdown viewers, but they are pretty ropey. You still have to search or wade through folder hierarchies to find the files, and then open split view or markdown views. Generally poorly designed viewers. And you end up reading the raw markdown half the time - which is terrible.

I've tried every standalone markdown viewer - Marked2, ViewMD, Typora, IA etc. Bought most of them.

But MacMDViewer has the edge. Why?

1. Beautiful typography & formatting.
2. Mac Native software - slick, native UI.
3. Rapid development - (I asked for tabs and frontmatter and within 3 days they were shipped).
4. (and most importantly) - a Claude (etc) integration that opens new or updated markdown files instantly.

That last feature is killer. I've a dedicated vertically rotated display that shows my docs/markdown files constantly. You actually read every plan/spec doc. It stops you being lazy.

Highly recommended. For $19.99 it's a total bargain.

Actually I don't think that worth the value that it costs, considering that free plugins on VScode or Obsidian can do the same (Obsidian actually does it without plugins).

The overall experience is good. The files readability is good, fonts and sizes as well. It makes what should be done.

Simple, fast, and exactly what you want when you double click on a .md file

I use MacMD Viewer as my main MD app now, associated with .md. It's light, launches in a microsecond, and the display is neat and precise. Great app for reading, and as a complement to AI toolings.

Great software! It's lightweight and makes working with MD files way easier. I am not a developer and dont have other software on my computer besides textedit to work with MD files. Diving into the AI vibe coding world though...this app is awesome and a great addition to my toolset.

It's very robust and bugs are being fixed fast. I'd appreciate a way to open the source somehow. Maybe with a different viewer or something.

AI loves producing markdown files during software development, and MacMD makes them easier to review.

I tried at least 5 similar Apps from the App Store and I was really upset about the poor output quality they produced. So when I came across MacMD I was hesitant at first, but I am so glad I went for it. The screen rendering is accurate and beautiful, the PDF’s are top notch and look very professional, and when I contacted their support they literally answered me within hours - and it was not an automated text - it came from a real person! If you need to gerate really nice looking PDF’s from MD files - I promise you that this app will not disappoint you!
