Seriously, this is a good product that you acquired, and it's simple enough but it does the job. The people that use your product are in a hurry. We don't want to do a walkthrough of your new features every day, and while we're smart enough to disable this, we're too busy so we end up seeing the stupid tutorial 10 times before steerco meetings we're rushing to put together. This is an efficiency tool, not a social media app. After being annoyed for 2 weeks I finally took the time to write this and then post a negative review on whatever your version of the app store is...and I don't even pay for this, my work does! You really don't think project managers wont wonder "why does outlook take twice as long to open?" and then figure out that you have a bunch of stuff set to automatically launch? I don't like to curse, but Sheesh!

Shadow Renewal - Don't honor EULA
My annual subscription renewed on August 3. I contacted Lucen on August 17—just 14 days later—to cancel and request a refund because the cost was no longer reasonable for me.
They turned off future auto-renewal but refused any refund, explaining that their 30-day guarantee applies only to first-time purchases, not renewals. They would not offer even a prorated refund.
Prospective customers should understand that once an automatic renewal is charged, Lucen’s policy apparently provides no refund window. Given the subscription’s price and how promptly I contacted them, I found this policy unnecessarily rigid and disappointing.

Thank you for the honest feedback. We're sorry to hear the renewal cost feels like more than it's worth to you right now, and that our policy on this has been disappointing.
To clarify: our EULA's 30-day satisfaction guarantee applies to a customer's first subscription purchase, giving new customers a window to try the product risk-free. It doesn't extend to renewals, since by that point the subscription has already been in use for a full year.
We try to make this easy to manage: reminder emails go out 30 and 15 days before renewal, and users can switch off auto-renewal anytime from the account settings.
We recognize this isn't the outcome you were hoping for, and we genuinely appreciate you taking time to share it directly with us. We take feedback like this seriously and it's something we'll continue to reflect on as we look at how we handle renewals.

Less Features on Plus Plan
I've written a review before on Office Timeline (now Lucen) and again it's incredibly frustrating to find features that I use now as part of my Plus plan will no longer be available to me when I eventually update the software.
Whilst the software is useful, improvements have been made throught with improved UI etc, responsive customer service. I can't really fault these things, but the constant diminishing of features being hidden behind the most expensive plan is annoying.
First, excel refresh was taken and hidden behind the top tier and now I find other features have moved behind the most expensive tier - the project performance tracking features which overlay progress bars and I've only noticed this as it's due time for my renewal.
Please don't make this about to improve customer experience, you've noted down which features people use and have hidden them behind the top tier.

Lots of unrealized potential
There is no sync between the Powerpoint plug-in and the web app, plus you can't import Powerpoint. So you have to export to excel, then import to the web version. The expert version is so slow it's completely un-useable. Unless all users are premium you get a water mark on the web app, and unfortunately even once all users are premium you can't remove it without completely rebuilding the project. Lucen obviously has put more time in to monetizing the product than making sure it remains a value added product.
09/09/2026:
Now 3 months after buying the 1 year expert license, its just gone. No sync to PowerPoint, doesn't show up on my account page. I can no longer edit timelines in PowerPoint at all. I want a refund and will no longer use your products. Just terrible!
09/11/26:
A representative from Lucen contacted me. They were transparent and apologetic of the issues, which I do appreciate. They did also issue a refund. This product is no longer for me, but maybe they'll get the bugs sorted out and unlock the potential this system has.

Thanks for laying this out, and sorry it hasn't been the experience we want for you.
A bit of context on the sync point. The PowerPoint add-in and the Online edition are two separate products, so they don't sync directly, and neither one exports a PowerPoint file you can pull into the other. Improving how the two work together is on our roadmap, so it's something we're actively thinking about. In the meantime, both work with Excel and other project formats, and since they share the same underlying structure, timelines, milestones, start and end dates, exporting to Excel and importing into the Online edition carries everything across intact. It's an extra step, I know, but it's the reliable way to move work between them today.
On Expert, you're right, it's been sluggish lately and that's on us. The good news is we've addressed it in our latest release, version 14.8, so an update should make a real difference if you're on an older build.
The watermark you're describing doesn't sound right to me. If you wouldn't mind sending a quick note to timeline-support@lucensoftware.com mentioning this review, we'd like to be able to look into it further and get it sorted.

Office timeline expert slowed the whole program
Office timeline pro worked great, but when we upgraded to Expert the program runs so slow and sometime crashes to the point when sometimes I avoid using it.

At the beginning was a little bit difficult to use it (I didn't saw any training videos), but after keep using the tool, it works great, very friendly, I love it.

pretty good
It s a pretty handy tool, however I struggle sometimes to fit the timeline I ve created in a PPT slide for example...We often have to cxreate a screenshot of the schedule prior to insert it in a PPT page.

An excellent tool for visually compelling timelines and plans
Office Timeline is an excellent tool for producing visually compelling timelines and plans. The presentation capabilities are the strongest suit of this PowerPoint Add-On. It is a valuable tool but does take some time to learn how to operate in order to generate the display qualities that you desire.
One major limitation which should be understood is the page sizing which is restricted by the MS PowerPoint page orientation / parameters.

Great experience
Once you get used to it, it is quite easy to use. it looks great for HL timelines. Only downfall is the amount of info that you can fit on a slide, which is a PowerPoint issue, not a timeline issue. Very happy over all.

The templates are not user friendly
The templates are not user friendly. Also I find it difficult to move the plan towards the top once it's completed. I would just like to move the whole thing around without having to re-do the boxes and everything else. It quite time consuming.

I used Office Timeline at my previous job and have gotten use to the differences between editing an Office Timeline slide and a regular PowerPoint slide. Once you are comfortable with that it is a breeze to setup and maintain. I love the new features, with actual vs. planned and the timeline edit is much improved over a couple of years ago. Also, so many new templates to choose from. My co-workers at my new job are very impressed with the professional timelines I am able to produce.

We'd like to shed some light on the compatibility side — we do support Mac, however the add-in is built for Windows only, so the Online version would be the right fit for you.
We also noticed you've been trying the Online version and ran into an issue — we're already working on getting that sorted so you can get back on track.
