Living Scriptures Arvostelua 

I am extremely disappointed with Living Scriptures, particularly with how they handled my situation after I explained the serious financial hardship I'm experiencing.

I originally signed up for a free trial after receiving a promotional phone call. I tried several shows but found the content disappointing and decided the service wasn't something I wanted to continue.

I initiated the cancellation process, which the company later confirmed in writing. During that process, I accepted an offer for another free month, not realizing that doing so would stop my cancellation. I later learned that the additional month was simply added to the end of an annual subscription. I was charged $75 for a service I genuinely believed I had canceled and had no intention of using.

I contacted customer service repeatedly, exchanged emails with management, and requested a one-time exception to their refund policy.

During a phone call, I explained that I was struggling financially to the point that I couldn't afford groceries and had to reach out to my social worker for assistance. I told them I had to borrow money just to put gas in my vehicle to get my son to school. I also explained that I had to seek assistance from the Salvation Army to obtain medication because I couldn't afford it.

These are basic necessities, not luxuries. That $75 would make a meaningful difference in my life right now.

Despite explaining all of this, I was repeatedly told that their three-day grace period had expired and no exception would be made.

I specifically asked to speak with someone who had the authority to reconsider. I was informed that the person responsible for financial decisions had already reviewed my circumstances, including my financial hardship, and determined that the decision was final. I was told there was absolutely nobody else I could speak with.

What makes this experience especially upsetting is that Living Scriptures promotes itself as a Christian-based company. I would have hoped that a company built around Christian values would demonstrate some compassion, understanding, and grace toward someone struggling to afford groceries, transportation for their child, and necessary medication.

I understand businesses have policies, and I acknowledge that I misunderstood the additional free-month offer. However, I believe there should be room for reasonable exceptions when someone is facing genuine hardship.

I wasn't asking for free services. I was asking for a refund for a subscription I believed I had canceled and would not use.

Instead, I repeatedly heard the same response: the grace period had expired, no exceptions would be made, and the decision was final.

I hope Living Scriptures considers how its policies are applied and whether its treatment of customers reflects the values it promotes.

I encourage anyone considering this service to carefully review the trial, cancellation process, and refund policies before subscribing.

I wish they would send a warning email before they automatically renew an annual subscription but the good thing is they refunded it when I called. It’s a great service but I already had several other family/scripture based services and I just didn’t have time for a third.
