I don't why the average review score is so low because this is the best veggie meat product I've ever tasted. I've tried the sausage and the crumbled ground (Mexican flavor) and they're both delicious. I made chili with the crumbles and it was the best vegetarian chili I've ever tasted. The sausage goes great with eggs and even has a little spice to it. Low in fat and sodium and high in fiber and still delicious. So, I'll be buying this product forever... or as long as it lasts, whichever comes comes first.

This was and sometimes is the occasionally best Tempeh.
Capricious Quality Control

How do you know when it will taste good? Be safe?!?

Sometimes it is dark too dark with the Koji/ferment residue and sometimes it doesn’t tast fermented at all just pressed soybeans together and a faint taste of plastic. Then there is that one just right but by then you will have thrown out 6 out of 10 purchases.

No way to know because of poor quality control at the factory. Can’t depend on consistency here.
