Disappointing walkway and a lengthy complaint process
I hired Leermans Tuiniert to renovate my garden in spring 2025. Unfortunately, my experience with the gravel walkway and the handling of my complaints was very disappointing.
After the work, I reported loose gravel, weed growth through the walkway and marks on the tiles. The gravel was intended to be bound together, but it remained loose.
An expert commissioned through my legal expenses provider inspected the garden in May 2026. The report identified defects in the walkway, including the gravel installation and edging. For balance, the expert assessed the fencing, planters and lawn more favourably. Leermans disputes the report.
The complaint process continued for more than a year, involving extensive correspondence through legal representatives and several proposed repair dates. The proposed remedial work was not carried out. After I indicated that I wanted the planned repairs to proceed, Leermans’s representative proposed a financial settlement instead.
We eventually agreed a financial settlement, and Leermans paid the agreed amount. This allows me to arrange repairs through another contractor. Although the financial dispute is now settled, the time, uncertainty and effort involved left me very disappointed.
Based on my experience of the walkway and the complaint-handling process, I would not use Leermans Tuiniert again.
