Extremely disappointing experience with…

Extremely disappointing experience with Ki metals and their chosen carrier, DX\.

Our order has now been damaged in transit by DX on three separate occasions and, despite the considerable delays, has never actually reached us\. We gave Kimetals several opportunities to supply the product correctly, but the latest replacement was again reported as damaged and bent while still in DX’s possession\.

After the first incident, we would have expected Kimetals to review the packaging and delivery arrangements and ensure that the replacement was adequately protected\. For the same problem to occur three times raises serious concerns about the packaging, handling and suitability of DX for transporting this type of product\.

These repeated failures and delays have caused significant disruption to our business and affected our ability to complete work for our own customer\. We have now completely lost confidence in the order being delivered undamaged and have requested a full refund so that we can source the materials elsewhere\.

A very frustrating and unacceptable experience from start to finish\.

Thank you for the feedback, and we're sorry for how this went. Three failed delivery attempts is not acceptable. We've cancelled the item and refunded the full amount paid for it.

For fairness to other readers, the background: the item was a 5.5-metre length of 100 x 6mm mild steel flat bar, cut to length from stock, hot-dip galvanised, and supplied straight. It left us straight, inspected and undamaged on all three occasions.

It was returned to us bent by our carrier on the first attempt. We cut a fresh bar, paid to have it galvanised again, and fitted a 40 x 40 x 3mm steel box section along its full length as a transit brace — at our own cost, not charged to the customer — specifically so it couldn't happen again. On the third attempt, the bar and the steel brace came back bent together. We have photographs of all three.

To put that in context: a bar of that size cannot be bent by hand. Putting a bend in 100 x 6mm flat bar requires a hydraulic bending machine. Bending it along with a box-section brace takes very considerable force.

We take full responsibility as the supplier and the customer has been refunded for the item. But this was not a packaging failure or a material quality issue — it happened in transit. We have raised a formal complaint with the carrier requiring a full investigation including CCTV review, and we have changed how we handle long lengths as a result. We have also offered to deliver a replacement in our own van, free of charge, so no courier is involved at any stage.

Our apologies again for the disruption this caused.

Lousy service

The metal slices were not cut properly. I was told my order is ready and when I came to the workshop over a week later I had to wait 30min as my order was not ready.

Above and Beyond

made 3 orders on line and missed off next day on the first one, the second one with next day was at the wrong length and one of the team called me to confirm the length which was appreciated as I hadn't notice the error. I placed a third order for the correct length and next day deliver and had both orders delivered. Great service, great attention to what is being ordered and great customer service. Thanks for being awesome !!
