Istanbul Obesity Center - Gastric Sleeve In Turkey Arvostelua 81

Last year, I decided to get a gastric balloon and after doing some research, I chose Istanbul Obesity Center. Looking back, I consider it one of the worst decisions I’ve made.

At the beginning, everything went smoothly. I traveled there, bought my flights, and paid around €2,900 in total including travel expenses. They told me the procedure would not be painful, although I understand that may depend on the person. Personally, I felt extremely unwell on the first day after the balloon was inserted.

I do want to mention that Mustafa was very helpful throughout the process. He translated everything clearly and treated us well.

Unfortunately, I did not see many results from the gastric balloon itself, but that part can happen and I eventually decided to try other methods.

What truly disappointed me was the removal procedure.

My appointment was scheduled for 9 AM, but when I arrived, the doctor apparently was not even there. They placed me in a room where I waited from 9 AM until midday without proper communication or updates.

When they finally took me into the procedure room, the experience became even worse. The nurses did not speak English and made no effort to communicate with me as a patient. After preparing the room, they spent their time laughing, making video calls, talking among themselves, and drinking tea inside the operating room where my balloon was about to be removed. I found this extremely unprofessional and unacceptable for a medical environment.

After the procedure, they placed me in another room and essentially left me there alone. I had to walk back by myself to find my mother afterward.

Overall, I was very disappointed with the level of professionalism and patient care. Mustafa was kind and helpful, but the behavior of the nursing staff seriously damaged my trust in the clinic. Unless these issues are addressed, I personally would not recommend Istanbul Obesity Center to others.

Where do I start I was so scared about going abroad for surgery and I cancelled twice but not once was I ever pushed to go mustafa deserves a medal for me and my 50000000 questions but I eventually went for it and from being picked up at the airport to getting to the hospital late at night and mustafa was there to welcome us, given the time I was expecting him to be at home like other companies mentioned but no he likes to be there to welcome patients which is very nice, and reassuring, everything went to plan with my surgery dr Kenan the surgeon is a lovely man he’s reassured me I was an easy job lol and you don’t even realise you are being put asleep 😴 when I woke I had bad gas pain which is to be expected so I walked straight away and it was away within 24hrs, you will be supplied with everything you need while there iv painkillers etc, my surgeon visited me everyday after my surgery which was good to check incision sites etc ,I left on the early hours of Monday morning so I didn’t go to a hotel I did have the option to but there was no point anyway my transfer arrived literally 5 mins early and of to the airport we went it’s been over 2 months since my surgery and I’m over 2 stone down, the language barrier was no problem either we had a right laugh trying to work things out before we resorted to google translate 😂 mustafa is amazing and will answer any questions you have he will also be in and around the hospital and if he’s not and you need him he’s just a msg away and he will come immediately, he’s been in contact with me from I came home and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this clinic to anyone 🙂

Fantastic service all round from start to finish ,Mostafa made me feel at ease even though I was in a foreign country .I landed at Istanbul and was driven directly to a hotel as my plane was delayed, and I couldn't go directly to hospital.lots of communication ,then the next morning was taken to hospital .my personal proceedure was 20 minutes and then I was taken to my 5 star hotel by mustafa himself picking up my medication on the way ( This hotel was my own booking ) 10 am the following morning i was picked up by a taxi punctual to the time for my return journey to the airport .ive no idea how he manages to reply to so many queries and install so much trust .hes an incredible human being ( respect )thank you for everything 🙏 and for the after care with so patience and understanding

I’m not really good writing reviews. This one be easy. Everyting went according to a plan. Everyone was very helpful, answered every detail of your questions and even the staff did not speak English, there was always someone who will translate for you or the nurses took a phone out and translate it for you. Medically, when something is not right, they know what to do and no need for communication. If you seeking for 5* hospital accommodation - it is not, but it’s clean, and have all what you need. You won’t eat, you will be recovering with amazing staff who is always there for you, smiling, and happy to assist. If I would be in different place - let’s say very posh hospital - I would not be able to do any more, than over there.

Had the best experience with this clinic. Mustafa was 100/10 at his job. From day 1, he made me feel super comfortable with everything and the procedure and even advised me on everything. He was forthcoming with information at all times. When I landed, he quickly answered his phone and arranged for transport to come and get me. I stepped into the hospital and he was already waiting for me. Excellent customer service. The hospital was great too. I had an awesome team working day & night to make sure I was okay. Even with the language barrier, my needs were attended to. They encouraged me to walk to feel better. Always with a smile on their face! My surgeon came to see me more than once during this time too. Best experience so far. So much support esp coz I came by myself.

Great experience ….. With Mustafa . He really went above and beyond to ensure that I felt comfortable and happy. The procedure was quick and painless. He explained everything in full details and gave me tips and tricks to ensure that I get the best out of the procedure.

First off Melissa was absolutely amazing , nothing was too much for her but personally I think she’s working for the wrong people. My sister and my self had the gastric sleeve. The level of care wasn’t great , fine up until you had the operation and was left to fend for yourself . Hospital wasn’t the cleanest in my opinion. Language barrier was definitely a problem with the nurses and every so often they would talk and laugh while looking at you , which made me uncomfortable . With other hospitals you are given medication and protein shakes within the price . We were given nothing and had advice from a different hospital on what we SHOULD have been given . My brother had the gastric balloon which was put in with a stomach ulcer . That was a big NO NO but we wasn’t to know as the information was not given to us there . He was going to have the sleeve but was terrified as you can imagine it’s a big operation. The surgeons came in calling him a chicken and doing chicken noises and impressions ( very unprofessional ). And on having the balloon removed yesterday after just 8 days, one of the medics basically said it was over inflated hence why he was in constant pain and constantly vomiting. Mustafa on arrival had his son with him but yesterday when my brother in law had it out he came with his wife and child to collect payment (again not very professional) all after having my gastric sleeve he came into my room with another lady who was about to have it done without asking me to tell her how easy it was etc which I didn’t find very professional AGAIN. It seemed a case of you’ve paid and we have done what we needed to do and then the care was bare minimum. Also my sister has a latex allergy an was wearing a red band to show nurses there was an allergy, which then resulted in my sister having a severely swollen hand for two days as they used latex on her. Which could have been a lot more serious. No gloves were worn when they were changing my IV . Blood was seeping in to the IV and I was looked at like an inconvenience. I won’t be recommending to anybody …..
Last Friday before leaving Istanbul to come home , Mustafa told us that the balloon removal would be 250GBP as we were already clients of the hospital , but we were told 445GBP including one night in the hotel , when he asked Mustafa about this before removal yesterday , Mustafa brushed it off and said Melissa deals with finance and took the 445 and went .

I started speaking to Alyin well I should say pestering her because I was forever asking questions and she had the patience of a saint right up until I have had my gastric balloon procedure and she still is looking after me while I’m in hotel (it’s absolutely beautiful the hotel) non stop care before and after I can’t thank her enough for her support I would highly recommend this business thank you so much aylin ❤️

Can’t thank zeynep enough for her looking after me while I was getting my gastric balloon procedure the care was the best I have ever had she such a lovely lady , I flew from UK and was abit nerveous I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to come here.

I travelled from London to have my gastric balloon placed here, and the entire experience was seamless thanks to Mustafa. From arranging my appointment to organising all transfers and the hotel, everything was handled perfectly. Mustafa is warm, friendly, and genuinely happy to help. He is extremely knowledgeable and guides you through every step of the process, which made me feel completely at ease. His communication is swift and clear, and he was always available when I had questions. I highly recommend this service, especially if you’re travelling from abroad.

This is my second time with Istanbul Obesity Center, and once again I had a great experience. I had the Endoscopic 6-Month Gastric Balloon procedure, and from the very beginning I asked hundreds of questions. They never once got tired of me and were always patient, reassuring, and honest, which made me feel very comfortable and informed.
On the day of the procedure, the hospital was very clean and well organised. Mustafa was there to support me, especially when I got scared about the needle (I really hate needles!). He was calm, kind, and completely non-judgmental, which helped me so much. Everything happened very quickly, and before I knew it, it was done.
The nurses and doctor were incredibly friendly and supportive. Even though their English was limited, they made a real effort to communicate and reassure me throughout.

I’ll be honest, the first three days were uncomfortable, but they checked in on me regularly to see how I was feeling and made sure I was okay, which I really appreciated.

What really stood out to me is that they are still checking on me now, even after I’ve returned back to London, which shows how much they genuinely care about their patients.

I would genuinely recommend Istanbul Obesity Center to anyone considering a procedure. They are honest, straightforward, and offer amazing care at very affordable prices.

I came from London to get my gastric balloon placed here. Mustafa, my agent set everything up, from the appointment, to all transits and the hotel. He is very warm, friendly, happy to help, and efficient. He knows his stuff and will guide you every step of the way. His communication is swift (it's like he never sleeps too lol). The procedure was quick and all hospital staff were good. The balloon will be uncomfortable for about a week but will settle in and will do it's work by occupying space in your stomach so you physically cannot eat as much as before. It's still important to have a healthy diet and exercise after a few weeks to get the best results out of this. In this 6 months really try and curve your bad eating habits or the weight will simply just return after and this investment would be worthless. Other than that good luck and definitely use Istanbul Obesity Centre.

Everything ran smoothly and well planned. It was very nice to meet Mustafa he’s a great help , ever since I spoke to Melissa I knew that things would go well. If you’re in doubt just do it you won’t regret it .
