I've got a good plan and on checking am covered for all to date. Whether on line or personal phone call the staff are amazing and extremely knowledgeable in all aspects. Very happy I changed to Irish Life Health a couple of years ago.

A friendly helpful advisor that I had like Carl Counihan is the most important part as he was friendly,helpful and made everything simple and easy to understand and would certainly encourage me to recommend Irish Life to my family in the future

I have had a number of private health plans through work and Irish Life Health has been the worst to date.
The number one issue I have come across is that they limit the number of claims they will process per account simultaneously to 3. This means in a month where I have visited a GP, Consultant and Pharmacy in preparation for a procedure I have to remain out of pocket for the 4th and 5th receipt until the 1st 3 are processed and paid.

I have not had access to my plan during this period due to technical issues on the website and have been passed between different customer service departments who all seem to have limited remit.

For example, via the chat they can only assist with login issues.
Via email 1 - only customer service & login issues
Via email 2 - Policy questions
Via email 3 - Policy issues

Each email takes 3-5 working days for a response and only responds to the issue within their area of responsibility.

In one email, despite my specification that I was getting errors and could not access my account and urgently needed to check if a procedure was covered, I was advised that yes, in some cases but I would need to check my policy document via my online account to confirm.

Contacting them via phone was no different as they advised I would need to send an email, to confirm I was having account issues/errors and then they could process my claim, but on emailing I got a response saying that email address was only for login. Once again sent on a wild goose chase while out of pocket upward of 500 euro waiting to be claimed back.

I do not have a choice in provider as I am lucky in that my employer provides this plan, however I would not recommend this company to anyone seeking private health insurance.

An absolute shambles of a provider. It takes months, appeals, and complaints and still no claim returned, a few hundred euros and they have made a complete ba**s of it. Somebody screwed up and now they're giving me the run around. There's no continuity of service, you call somebody or send a mail and it seems like they are hearing about the case for the very first time. These people are getting 1000's each year for premiums and the level of service is with 1 penny, no more!!!

Poor service, customer service closes early and starts late

Unprofessional and unhelpful customer service team. Extremely frustrating and difficult to deal with.

The company that I work for have switched our health insurance provider from Laya to Irish Life.

I have encountered constant issues since signing up. The website is down, the app is buggy and fails to load my plan most of the time.

An AI chatbot welcomes you each and every time you try to chat to an agent.

I have been advised that my account needed to be deleted and that I had to sign up again. I have been advised to try logging into the website from a different browser. I have been advised to delete and reinstall the app. All in the space of the first 4 weeks.

I had previously been with Laya for 7 or 8 years and never encountered a single issue with the website or indeed the app.

On average with Laya a claim took 2 days to settle, with Irish Life it is taking up to 2 weeks.

This is mediocre to say the very least and especially even more so when you fork out €100's each month for this so called "service".

On a personal level I would avoid at all costs based on my experience thus far but unfortunately I am tied into this due to company policy,

After checking with an Irish Life customer agent I was able to go for my procedure with complete confidence about my cover. As an older customer I like to be dealing person to person and this was facilitated by Irish Life in a courteous, informative manner.

Irish Life is great because the way you're health policy is explained and the knowledge the agents have in answering any questions. Claims are easy to make and promptly paid. No complaints really.

In the past we had to deal with various health insurances in various countries - i.e. mostly my husband dealt with them - but being a widow I did it. I could not have been more satisfied and impressed by your service - thank you very much indeed.

Avoid at all costs. Irish Life are a despicable company to deal with. From the unhelpful customer support, to downright rude complaints handler. They are a company that are quick to take your money but very slow to return it. We had an absolute horrid time dealing with them and intend to shed light on our dealings with them with the ombudsman. Avoid at all costs.

A special thanks to Aine Gleeson for her prompt and professionalism in dealing with the mortage protection and financial review l needed assistance with. It was all new to me as a first time buyer and Aine explained each step of the process clearly so l always felt supported with areas l found difficult. Aine was always prompt in response to any questions l needed answering and worked around my working hours to facilitate same. Overall l couldn’t have done it with Aines support and assistance and l am delighted with the final policy. Thank you so much Aine.

Waiting nearly a month for a simple request on a pension status. Each response from “happytohelp” customer services takes a week. Finally they found my pension and direct me to a portal that is just marketing promotions personalised - no details, nothing what I asked for. Compared to all other pension companies they have taken a month so far. Basic information should be emailed and directed to me. Simply and effectively. Will probably spend another month now waiting for details. Update: Still waiting despite writing back to this reply. They will probably take 5 working days - no escalation - Think I need to move up the organisation and highlight via X.

I've been with Irish life I think about 10 yes, always treated very well with my hospital cover. Cost has gone up so much over the years
App could be more user friendly especially when searching for consultants etc but they are very efficient at repayment to be made

If I could give minus 10 for customer services I would, I have been trying for over two weeks to start the process to cash in my two pensions and Irish Life have made this very difficult for me by sending me out multiple complicated forms that only a broker would know how to complete, even when I tell them exactly what I want to do and my choices they ignore me. I am also getting multiple emails on a daily basis from different people in Irish life and tbh I am sick of it now.

This is my money that I am entitled to cash in and they are causing me huge amounts of stress and I am going to report them to the financial ombudsman.
