We had a business and all our employees got an SEP Retirement Plan from Met Life. When they sold it to me one of the key factors in the decision to go with them was they let you move into different funds, with a good selection you can move funds every day if you wanted to. Turned out to be a lie, they don't want you to change Investment Strategies very often.
They told me a lot of things that weren't true.
To make this short and sweet, we started this in 1988. They are just another shady insurance company that likes taking your money. Don't trust them. Their phone people are trained to say anything that benefits Met Life, whether it's to flat out lie or even cheat you.
If I could relive my life I would never do business with these people.
I canceled my Life Insurance with them which cost more because I was older but Met Life won't get a chance to cheat me again.
Be careful dealing with them. They know all the angles.

Update Sept 14, 2024: ZERO STARS HERE.
I learned today from Wells Fargo, that another WF member had a check paid by the same maker, MetLife.
Wells Fargo was unable to collect the funds due to that other member. Now I'm very concerned that the lump sum check on my account won't clear my account.
If you have a MetLife account, withdraw your account, immediately. I think they may go bankrupt. Demand a cashier's check, not a paper check.
The executives at Metlife could bother to return my calls. The executives are MIA (missing in action), my lump sum funds are MIA. I smell a scam. These people are crooks.
MetLife’s physical check of over $7K bounced. Wells Fargo told me the deposit is on hold for one full week, so I don’t overdraw my account.
Too late. I believed the MetLife check had to be good, when I mobile deposited it on Wed, evening. I made two transactions under $400, my limit for available funds. Waking up on Thursday, my account was overdrawn $-300.00! Friday, same thing!

The annuity complaint rep, and the Regional rep were unreachable all day. No out of office notification on their office phone or their email. What an incompetent, shade company!

Sept 10, 2024: Recently withdrew my 403b annuity account with MetLife insurance company on Sept 1, 2024. Their call center to facilitate my account withdrawal left several unanswered questions about my form submittal. Trying to communicate with their front-line call center was more than difficult. I persevered and finally received my physical check via Fed Ex, on Wednesday, Sept 11, 2024, which I mobile deposited immediately. Their check was placed on a temporary hold until next Friday, September 20, 2024, due to another Wells Fargo member check paid by MetLife that had been rejected and returned. Normally, my check deposit, would be available the next business day. But not MetLife’s check! How can a physical check drawn on MetLife not be good? My account is overdrawn because MetLife’s check won’t clear until Sept 20, 2024. I’ve contacted my local MetLife office, and their corporate headquarters in New York, today, but no one is returning my calls. It seems they are aware of this issue and are avoiding my calls. That’s my best guess.

I have a policy w/ them for term life. I recently received a premium payment notice with the due date. Something seemed array w/ this, so I called customer service. The agent I spoke w/ was very cordial & attentive. After she did some searching, she notified me thar my premium was already paid by my dividends. IF I had NOT called, I would have made yet another payment. Of course, I am annoyed about this, because I never received a notice of such. I just received the premium payment notice via mail. I feel & think this is ignorant & deplorable of MetLife. My thought is: are they may be seeking to double-dip? Mainly because IF I did not call, I would have made the payment.
