This website is miserable..
This website is miserable... I see only negative experiences on the internet about booking an official ticket to Colosseum and everybody says "dont even try it on il-colosseo.it, buy via third party". Yeah which are 4 times more expensive... One thing is that once at a time only 2-3 places show up for each timeslot - yeah, this is certanly a way to reduce the website overload - but you cannot even add the tickets to the cart. I think this is because 2000 people trying to grab that 2 miserable piece of tickets at the same time. Okay, this is how it works with the underground tickets where the demand is so high - but this is the same with regular tickets as well with no high demand. You see that here is plenty of free places, but cannot add it to the cart "Error: error. Couldn't update quantity" You just cannot book a single ticket on the official website. Once somehow I managed to add the tickets to my cart, filled in the names, wanted to finalize the order and boom an other kind of error message. Shame on the whole Colosseum operator who lets this work like that. Also for that they make the access to the Colosseum - a fine piece of humankind's cultural heritage - a cash cow as they allocate most of the empty places for local turist companies who work like mafia, and charges you 3-4 times more than you would pay for the ticket officially. The lesser rest of the places are like lottery. This is not equal opportunity, and also very harmful to the judgement of Italy itself.
