I confused Hughes with dish. Hughes is getting really all the time.
Installer installed. Left without ensuring internet worked. It did not. I called 5 minutes after he left, again 1 1/2 hrs. No installer returned. Called hughs net direct. They said id be called by a tech. 4 more calls to them later that day and still no return call. Called again next day at noon. No return call. I purchased the equipment, yet have no service, no calls.
I used this int-service since 2017, not by choice, but there is no other available/blocked for zip 32464. Contracted $49.99/m. Where should I begin!? Hughesnet is the definitive of "mafia-robbery."
* 33% of the time there is no service, or literally 30 to 40sec to refresh page, can't use for practically anything but checking email and some basic browsing.
* After six months, rate went from $50/m to now $129./m, for the same no service/"not guaranteed connection." If it's rain here, or a storm 500mi away, or anything = no service. Plus $11.99/m router rental fee; not allow to purchase out right $129., plus, plus...
* My home burnt down in April 2024. Called to cancel. Was told cancellation fee $189.00; alternative is suspense service with no monthly charge = agreed. Suspension commit 5/3/2024
* August 2024, uncovered that Hughesnet had been charging my acct. Called. Rep apologized and promised to refund - didn't happened. Called again in Oct 2024, same script was read, apology dispensed, no action...
* Every single time I called Hughesnet, I got a different number quoted, different thing promised, "I apology for the inconvenience, am sorry for your situation, and i don't know why they told you that, but here is what I will do for you..." It's didn't matter whatever they said, the same script will be read next time, and no action accompanied.
... time passed, called every two months, similar revolving issues, being charged for different fees... the cancellation fees changed each time.
* May 2025, called. Now, Rep., Shawn Smith says your cancellation fee is $100.00 plus act balance $42. For what, I have not used Hughesnet for 1 yrs.? Smith, "I don't know. I'm just inform you of the information... I'm not able to give you a confirmation yet, but I'm going to cancel your contract. You have a $146.80 refund need to be process by a superior. None is available. Can I schedule a call back?" Yes. Amir, the 'supervisor', "cancellation confirmation no. 164882645 effective 5/29/2025. Now, let talk about your refund." In Feb 2025, I was owed $186... never refunded. Oct 2024, I was owed $168.30... Every time, it's a different amount! Never mind that, "let talk about it... I'm sorry. I will process..." OMG; it's never stop! Hughesnet doesn't even bother to lie about it! Admitted over charged, will refund, but not... then dispenses this ever-repeating loop of lies while robbing, "I apology for the inconveniences... I don't know why they told you that... Here is what I'm going to o for you..."
* Hughesnet had been stealing from me $50-$70 every month since 2017/18 still 5/2025. I'll give this money to animal shelters instead.
* If you audit you bill every month and catch Hughesnet steals from you via auto-billing, you must call in, multiple times, go on a hamster-wheel/circular talks with them for hours to get refunded! This is how Hughesnet operates, steals from customers every which way it can.
* I'm going to do without, use library and other means * Hughesnet is corporate thief just like UHC.
* Blah, blah, blah... When hearing the word Hughesnet, hang up, don't walk - run... This is one of those UHC, you don't want to deal with ever.
