Very upsetting service. Not what I expected.

I was gifted some vouchers by my late mother’s Neighbour to replace a magnolia tree that I was unable to take from my mother’s home. After she died while I was organising my wedding.

I had no clue that these vouchers would expire. Absolutely did not expect this from garden centre vouchers.

At the time we received them, we didn’t even have a garden, then post bereavement admin, post wedding admin and a house move took over life.

We finallly moved last year and come spring decided to buy the magnolia…but the vouchers expired in December. I certainly wasn’t garden shopping in December.

Given the circumstances, this seems pretty cruel.

As other reviews have said considering the audience for vouchers such as these and the type of people that might buy them some leniency should be offered when genuine mistakes have been made due to circumstances

Absolutely pointless buying these vouchers you might as well give money.

Excellent service from Bev at HTA Service Team. During a house move, I misplaced the National Garden Gift Card that my late mother had purchased for me. I explained the situation to Bev and she very kindly issued me with a new card. So, that I could buy the fruit tree in memory of my mother. Thank you Bev.

My mother did not know her gift card would expire and asked for a replacement.
They told her to email...she explained she does not use email.
Why are the HTA so money grabbing, just replace cards and stop trying to keep over £3m of people's unused cards.

Bev at HTA has been brilliant. I lost one of their vouchers with about £36 on it. I called HTA and they asked me to put it in writing via email. Within a couple of minutes of sending the details, Bev responded saying she was looking into it. Then a few minutes later, she confirmed they could lock my lost card and issue me with a new one. Great service. Thank you!

Awful company, no morals from the very top down.
Will only communicate via email to avoid personal involvement. They are happy to take your money without any consideration for your unpredictable personal events and losses. Their Garden Gift Vouchers should be avoided like the plague, do not purchase them under any circumstances. The company retained £3.2 million for their own use from vouchers not redeemed in 2021. This is a line from their accounts submitted online "Based on experience, the directors estimate that at 31 December 2021, £3.2m of vouchers, and cards in circulation are not expected to be redeemed."!! Clearly they had funds available, yet it appears their own personal comfort and/ or enjoyment fund couldn't be relieved of just £75...unbelievable, we are so, so sad to have lost the gift of a dead relative! Only give cash, or make bank transfers to your friends or family as gifts to spend in garden centers, to stop the Horticultural Trades Association behaving so wickedly. As a polar opposite example of how it could, and should be, Marks & Spencer exchanged our vouchers without hesitation, and followed up our emails with a telephone call. A perfect example of an established company which is clearly customer facing and focused.
