Hercules Moving Company Arvostelua 

I reached out to a number of moving companies to move a piano. Some wouldn't give me a clear answer. Another seemed to, then more than doubled the cost and sent me 6 emails in 2 days. Simon at HMC was straightforward and polite. He quoted a flat rate, with a clear extra cost if tilting was necessary (it wasn't). The movers were on time. They were efficient. Cleaned up. 5 stars.

TL;DR: overpriced for quality of service; my shipment was split up; they lost my bike (eventually recovered) and two boxes of irreplaceable personal items; they do not scan items at different points when your items might be unloaded en route so there is no chain of possession; QR code and labelling system is useless and all for show; you’re paying for good marketing re: only using their own trucks and personnel - it doesn’t matter at all. All marketing; no substance. I am so sad to have had their carelessness result in losing treasured items. HIRE ANOTHER COMPANY.

Long version:
I had high hopes for this company, when I hired them for my cross-country move in late summer 2025, based on reviews, initial customer service, the fact that they do not contract out to third party van lines, and Hercules staff would be with the shipment at all times. WHAT A MISTAKE. Despite being small move (from a 10 x 5 storage unit, no furniture, a bike), it was very expensive - and I presumed I was going to get the service I paid for (spoiler alert: I absolutely did not). Aside from the cost, they LOST my bike and two boxes. The bike was recovered, the two boxes WERE NOT. How do you boast about having such a great system and even have every item labeled and scannable on a tablet and still lose things? Is it theft within the team? Why were any of my items separated in the first place? It took them weeks to “investigate” (the air quotes are because I suspect the items were either stolen and they didn’t want to admit it or they were covering up how useless their fancy system is and had no chain of possession recorded at all) and because I had declined extra coverage - as it was already so expensive and I made the mistake of trusting their reputation - I received $42 for both boxes combined. It’s not about the money - the items in the boxes cannot be replaced. I am incredibly disappointed by their complete ineptitude with a relatively small move with a hefty price tag. Any team is only as strong as their weakest link so they might want to take a look at who is moving their clients’ items between trucks, containers and storage facilities. It is incredible to me that with their system something can go missing. That tells me more about the true quality of the Hercules operation than any review ever could. Lived experience. Hate to be the outlier in the positive reviews but beware; if they lose your stuff, you’re most likely SOL because nobody I spoke with had a clue where any of my lost items could be. I strongly suspect the only reason I received my bike was because of the goodwill and conscientiousness of one of the movers who delivered the rest of my items. He personally went and looked in the warehouse for my missing items and located my bike. As for Hercules, give them a pass and shop around. Very disappointing. And before anyone from the company responds saying they can’t find anyone by my name in their records, I don’t post online with my real name for privacy reasons but I assure you I was a client. Seriously - shop around. Not worth the headache. I am so sad to have had their carelessness result in losing treasured items.

First, what went right. Working with the move coordinator went great. The movers showed up on time, toted all the furniture and boxes and then packed the high value items insured with replacement value insurance (12 settings, total of 60 pieces, of fine bone china and some valuable art work). The cargo was moved from Ontario to BC.
Now, for what went wrong. One box, containing replacement value insured items, the 12 place settings of fine bone china with precious metal detailing, did not arrive. There has been a lengthy process where they have implied that the items were in fact delivered in spite of a box missing from the manifest, then that the packed items were only 4 place settings not the actual 12 (effectively implying I am lying about owning the items and their own team not having reported the discrepancy when they packed the items), that the items are “an average dinnerware set” rather than fine china, and other insinuations. They are unwilling to commit to replacing the china set properly, saying that “our obligation is to provide replacement items of like kind and quality”, and “we would use closest matching pieces available”. Effectively saying some pieces might not be of the same pattern as other pieces. At this point I asked to speak to a supervisor, which has not happened. The claims officer says that “management” has been consulted, but I cannot verifiy that. The claims officer then offered an alternative resolution of a cash settlement, with a totally insufficient amount that would not cover the full purchases needed, relevant taxes, shipping costs, and possible customs duty and tariffs and broker fees for having to source the china set from a US source.
In summary, the move of most items went well, the move of insured items was a fiasco with a box going missing and a horrible experience trying to make an insurance claim, and the company not honouring the replacement value insurance policy.

Absolutely Not Recommended
First of all, they will charge you for things that are not real. For example, they add charges for both “shuttle pick-up and drop-off,” but then show up with a very massive truck that they also use to serve multiple families at once. When you question this, they justify it by saying they were not able to send the “largest possible truck” to your address. When asked to show what that means, they even sent me a photo of an oversized truck with multiple containers—something I’ve never actually seen used in real life.
They also lost the most expensive item we owned, and then told us that since we didn’t purchase insurance, they couldn’t do anything about it. It is hard to believe that out of everything, the one item missing was the most valuable.
If they use an elevator, they charge you for elevator use plus an additional large fee, claiming it’s because they have to wait for the elevator to stop on your floor multiple times.
Their quotes are consistently the highest compared to other companies. We assumed the higher price meant better service, but instead, they charged excessive amounts for nothing and still lost items.
Bottom line: They are overpriced, unreliable, and careless with your belongings. Be very cautious—they will overcharge you and most likely lose your items.

Two men showed up, one was complaining the entire time, and muttering in a different language. I assume that he was muttering unpleasant comments about my husband and I but he was speaking Russian or Polish so we couldn’t confirm with 100% accuracy. Once the house was packed, we spoke with the mover (the nice one of the two) who had an eta at arrival of 1:42PM, they advised they’d take a coffee break and meet us 2:00PM, we agreed. They showed up at the move destination 2:49PM, claiming “trucks are slow” which is true, but not to the extent of over an hour later. They dragged their shoes a trolleys over our cream carpet staining it, our couch has wooden splinters in them? When it came time to assemble the bed, which was previously agreed on, they fussed it, stating it was an extra charge if they were to do it, I advised their manager Simon said they’d do it no problem and they advised themselves they’d assemble the bed at the previous location. They assembled the bed, the fuss was for nothing. They defecated in our brand new toilets(never been used), leaving fecal splatter, didn’t bother cleaning up after themselves. The angrier mover also made an issue of readjusting the carpet and realigning it as it was not assembled and laid out properly. When it came time to pay they charged us overtime of two hours, one hour was fair the other hour was their coffee break… ultimately the job got done but all of the above took place.

The company lives by low quote and high invoice. Don't fall victim to this scam.

We hired this company to move our items from BC to SK. The deposit was paid, and we were told our items would be delivered approximately 3 weeks from pick up. We were reaching the end of the 3 weeks and I had not heard from the company. I reached out to inquire about the arrival date and was told now the items would be an additional 4 weeks before delivered with no explanation.

Upon the arrival of our belongings at the end of the 4 weeks the movers on site told us that in error of the company our items were shipped to Toronto. They also told us that our mattress did not arrive, and they were unsure where it was. Once we had the opportunity to go through our inventory check list checking each item off, we realized additional items were also missing. Three large utility bins did not arrive. We immediately contacted the company to notify them of this.

We were told the mattress had been located but not the bins yet. Over a week passed and we had not heard back. We reached out by phone numerous times to no call back. When emailing asking when our mattress would be delivered and the update on locating the other missing items, we were told the mattress will arrive in a few weeks, no set date provided, and then to look more thoroughly though our items as they could not find the bins. We have asked if they are still looking on their end for the missing items, this has received no response. We have asked what the next steps for reimbursement of lost items are, again no response.

The company made an error resulting our belongings to go to additional unnecessary warehouses and moving trucks, ultimately displacing, and losing our belongings. Items lost are their responsibility because of this error.

We lost thousands of dollars of items and they offered 10c/lb, amounting to 60 dollars of reimbursement. If you care about your belongings, I could not recommend strongly enough to never use this company.

When you are planning a move and need someone who is really "IN"...this company may seem to be what you are looking for.

They are INtransigent, INsulting, and, whether on your premises or in their offices, INcompetent.

Let's review this:

You are planning to have renovations done and need to have furniture removed, stored for a brief period, and then be returned. Everything has been discussed and agreed upon weeks in advance. A contract is in place.

You have retired after a lifetime of office work and are now 80 years old. You are divorced and have remarried.

Fifteen minutes before the truck arrives to begin the work you get a phone call and learn that Toronto police just called your ex-wife and informed her that your son is dead.

The truck arrives and your wife tells the men what just happened and that you are deeply upset.

The two men get to work, wrapping everything in blankets. They are slooooow and they apparently left their competence tool kit and instruction book back at the shop. Things sloooowly go out to the truck. Then comes the queen-size bed. The box spring gets stuck between the stairs and the overhang of the ceiling at the bottom. They jam it into the ceiling and the side wall, damaging both. They cannot move it and ask how it came in.They are told Leon's delivered it with no problem. Multiple times they tried to force it out, failing and jamming it each time, while also causing more damage. They took it back upstairs to see if it would go out a window, and after seeing the windows were too small, they brought it down again. Finally, after more than twenty minutes of repeated failures, they jammed it hard in place, called their company on their phone and then announced that it could not be done, so it would have to be left there.

Remember....you are an 80year old retired office worker, but despite the shock and intense upset you feel from just learning that your son is dead, you may still have a more active brain than these pseudo- "professional" movers, and you cannot deal with a box spring blocking the stairs after these twits depart, so you look at it for a few seconds, decide which angle would work best, and then ....in less than one minute, and working without their help, .....you extend your hands and use those aging office muscles to pull it free from its jammed position and out the door.

You pay the outrageous bill where charges are counted up for the time these men wasted and complain to the company by text message.

Then, enter someone whose quality of writing indicates a barely-passing grade for a Grade 10 student and who tells you that the "professional" movers disagreed with your description of events and that because of the problems those same "professional" movers had with the mattress they will not be returning it upstairs.. Apparently this student does not understand or recognize contracts., but he/she causes you immense upset as you are dealing with funeral details and now they are not only refusing to return the mattress, but he/she also says they will not accept any damage claim!

It turned out a different crew brought everything back and, after taking advice from you as to angles needed, they were able to get the box spring upstairs in only one minute.

They assembled the bed and mirror/dresser , were paid and they left. Good men, both of them, but they left behind a problem.

The next day, when you attempted to move the dresser/mirror to clean behind it, as you had done dozens of times before, the mirror fell to the floor, breaking a small section on one side. Upon examination it was seen that, where total eight mounting screws were required to properly mount and retain the mirror, only four had been used and those were not only of mixed head types, they were all smaller in both diameter and length than needed. This was the reason the mirror came off. . (All were #6 screws of one inch length)_

The break was about three inches in length, but you already knew the insulting grade 10 student is intransigent, so you accept that any claim will be denied, and you put the mirror back, using eight screws of correct size (#8 and one and a half inches in length) that all fit perfectly.. The cracked mirror is again secured in place and the dresser can again be safely moved.

Their pricing is about the same as a real professional moving company so, if some similar deplorable experience is what you are willing to pay for, go for it!

We used Hercules for a home move. Initially the move went well however afterwards we discovered some damages and initiated a claim.

They damaged a wall cirner, bent a chair, damaged our $1500 couch, piled so muxh on our bins marked fragile that they busted apart, list a chair mat,misassembled furniture.

Their idea of resolution was to try to shame us for having purchased from Ikea as it is poorly made and that they do not take responsibility for that type of furniture.

They used parts that did not belong to our furniture and comprimised its integrity.
They offered $70 to repair the wall and denied wrecking the couch but offered $120.00 (for a 1500.00 couch even though one of their workers came to my house and made it clear that they messed it up.

I included Igor and Vidas in all my emails and neither of them had the decency to contact me.

We offered to settle for $500.00 but this company would rather be taken to court, reported to BBB and reported to CRA for cash transactions then pay a claim.

Good job team Hercules Moving Company!!!
