After the recent storm I realize these mats are only good for moderate type storms maybe up to four inches. The mats could not keep up with a heavy snow fall of over a foot and required shoveling to clear them.

When they work they’re great, but they are obnoxiously over priced and too expensive for what you get and the company seems to realize this as they’re the only ones making a semi-useful heat mat product. Customer service ignores you. We have a total of 12-13 of these and two failed in the second season of use. We care for them well, store them indoors after the season, make sure they’re not damaged by visitors etc. Heat Trak a they also have a bad habit of doing a bait and switch, offering 10% off for your email address, only to want your mobile number after you’ve given them the email address. If you refuse to give that to them, guess what? They now have your email address and you get no discount. It’s just a shady company overall.

I really like the ease of use with these. They are very simple to ‘install’ and had already taken measurement of the area I was going to use them, so there were no unexpected issues. I also purchased two WiFi ‘switches’ to plug them into so I could control them manually or set a schedule.
The initial cost was a bit higher than expected, but I think the value outweighs the higher than expected cost. I haven’t had them a month yet but do not expect a surprise on my electric bill. I have been monitoring my electrical use by hour over the last several weeks and see a slight ‘bump’ in KW/h usage but nothing drastic. As long as they have the longevity as described by the manufacturer, then I would rate them 5*

Overall I would totally recommend, especially to anyone older that shouldn’t be out shoveling or worries about ice buildup on your entrances or steps. Perfect gift for the holidays.

The mats work fine if you get them in good condition. The customer service is almost as bad as it gets. Having to talk to a few against and sending over 15 email to get my warranty together is not accepted. I usually would not write a bad review, but just perpard to be on them as they mostly do not respond to there email. Now that I have cut my cords and can not use the mat they are ghosting me, not happy as I need a new mat as they make you cut your cords on your old mat.

We bought the 30" x 60" mat and required GFCI plug for $300. It looked sturdy and heavy duty. While it lasted it was great, but it failed after four years. We left it out in the winter and stored it indoors in the summer at 70F. Bought Oct 2020, failed Dec 2024. Warranty is 2 years. For that much money, my expectations were for it to last longer than four years.
